Lately I have been getting a lot of calls around 8:30 in the morning. I hate this and think it is rude. Do you think it is rude to make phone calls to people's homes before 9 AM or after 9 PM?

Yes, I do. We must remember that the person we are calling has a life of his or her own and we should do our best not to interrupt. Calling when someone is likely asleep or tired or eating dinner (I would add dinner time as another "do not call" time) is definitely disruptive and rude. Part of the reason I like email so much is that it can be answered on one's own time...it's never a disruption!

Yes, I think it is very rude, especially if you have children. Usually I would be getting them ready to go to school, so I definitely wouldn't want to get a phone call that early in the morning. My family knows that if they call me that early, it had better be important. The same goes for calling after 9 PM. The children have to be in bed, and that would be very inconvenient for me to answer the phone. The only calls I want to answer at those times are emergencies.

Unless I know that the person is going to be up and awake I do not call people early or late. My sister it is hard to tell with her sometimes though. I have called her at noon before and she was sleeping and other times if I call her at 8 pm she is already asleep. She keeps strange hours. 8:30 is not quite so bad, but I have gotten calls as early at 7 from people before and that just annoys me to no end.

I think people forget what time it is and they call when they have a phone in their hand. I try to think of calling times as business hours, 9-5. If I need to reach somebody after that I'll wait until the next day. Just turn your phone off until you get up and after you go to bed.

I definitely think it is rude for people to call you that early. I guess they figure they are up, they might as well make sure everybody else is up as well. I try to avoid calling people that early. I will only call that early if it is an emergency. I won't answer calls that early either, unless it is from someone I know.

yeah I personally do, not too bad in the morning but I think people should never ring someone after 9pm at night unless its family or friends.

Hi, Lady! Yes, I do think it is quite rude to make phone calls as early as 9.00 a.m. unless there is emergency or something urgent comes up, but after 9.00 p.m. I think it's still consider okay for me and not an hour later. In my previous job, we have this practice to call the guests only from 10.00 a.m. onwards.

Yes I find it terribly rude to make phone calls between these hours - actually, my preferred hours for NO calls are before 8am or after 8pm with the exception of emergencies, of course. I really detest calls during the dinner hour which inevitably turns out to be telemarketers anyway.

Hello Lady. I think it is rude to call someone before 9am and after 9pm. We don't give out our home phone number to anyone. We turn off our cell phone at 8:30pm and don't turn it on till after 9am. The people that know us know that we won't answer the phone before or after these hours. The only one that has our home phone number is family and they don't call that number except when it is an emergency.
