Negative discussions can get you lot of response.

I will give some examples of negative discussions. Example 1] All Americans like to have war. This makes the Americans respond by saying that it is not true. Example 2] Why do Muslims support terrorism? It is obvious that all Muslims do not support terrorism. The Mylotians who are Muslim would object to it and respond saying that he or she is a Muslim and does not support terrorism. The idea is to play on the sentiments of people. Trigger them a little in such a way that it does not get reported and compel the reader to respond to it. Some of the discussions have negative or wrong titles. When the person reads the content they realize that the content is totally different from the title. Such flaring titles make the people read the contents of the discussion. Majority of them tend to respond to discussions which they have read. Responding to such discussions makes it more popular. I prefer not responding to such discussions. You can find such discussion in Mylot. I hope after reading this you will be able to recognize such negative discussions.

It is a personal choice. As I said one can get plenty of response by using the trick or avoid it.

Frankly I have also responded to such discussions. It was after responding to such discussions that I understood the trick. Also understood the human tendency to respond to such discussions.

If the Lotter who starts a discussion sets it out so that it receives lots of responses, hats off to them whether it is negatve or positive All interesting discussions are welcome and receiving responses alone is not goiong to earn for the user who started it but will be an opportunity for all those who wish ro respond. Only if the user who started it foes back and comments on the responses will they then earn from it. I started one almost two weeks ago and it was along the lines that you suggest and indeed it received many responses! I commented back to every single one of them otherwise I would not have earnt for it. It is up to us to choose where we respond but if a discussion is successful, whatever the methods involved, I say 'well done' to the user who launched it every time!

Your discussion titled 'MyLot IS a scam! tell everyone!' is a good example of what I said in the discussion. And you also got a lot of response. 166 is amazing. It reminds of calling a woman a b1tch Beautiful Intelligent Talented Charming Housewife

lol Reverse psychology right? I can understand now why it happened, but when I started that one I had absolutely no idea that it would be so successful!

You could call it reverse psychology. Reminds me of a classic example. I think I will use the age old trick and make some money. It certainly worked for you.

hi vanillarey people respond differentlysome will respond to something that irritates the hell out of the, while others will by pass it for the same reason. I see nothing wrong with negative discussions if they make sense and furthermore do not break the mylot rules. If you do not like these discussions you are free to go to the ones where all you have to do is say what flavor of ice cream you like. me, I like to respond to any discussion that makes me use my brains. Furthermore I do not like anyone telling me I should not respond to this or that. Let us all just mind our own discussions and get on with our mylotting.[em]ninja[/em

Before I started this discussion I knew that people can use the above trick to start more of such discussions. The discussion is sort of a guide. Such tricks can be found here and in other forums. One can start a discussion using the above tricks and get plenty of response. Or people can recognize such discussions which are posted here in Mylot and other forums. Responding or not is up to each member. I had read a discussion similar to the first two examples I have given. That is what made me start the discussion.

Hello my friend VANILLAREY Ji, As a positive thinker and approach I do not encourage such negative discussions at the cost of getting more rsponses, In fact I avoid discussions and pray that I should not get more than 10 responses, as it is very difficult for me to honor everyone's feelings here. I think I should discuss where our society can improve by living together happily. Why to create such discussions. Why not we make some positive research. Wishing you a very happy Chrismas and New Year-2010. May God bless You and have a great time.

Hmmm…yes, you’ve got a point there alright but then what’s the use! As far as I know, you don’t get paid for the number of responses to your discussion, rather the people who are responding get paid for their participation…you get paid only when you respond back and usually in such negative discussions, there’s nothing new to write about apart from the same old and oft-repeated story.

I do not often respond to this kind of discussion either, especially when it is just a ploy to try to trick people into generating more pennies for the perpetrator. It strikes me as a bit dishonest, and when people on my myLot friend list start discussions that are clearly just meant to shock and annoy others I delete them from my list. In fact I just deleted on such "friend" today.

I wonder if the popular ‘negative’ discussions were intended to be so. A clever discussion will attract a lot of responses I guess no matter whether it is negative or positive and it is up to individual perception how it is viewed. I respond to most of my friends’ discussions which appeal to me and I feel I can make a contribution to. I suppose there are MyLotters who start controversial topics in order to receive varied and rich responses.

Well controversy sell right? its the same as the journalist that tries to make a polemic from something to sell( in this case to get more answers).

We have a habit of checking the persons mistake rather than the good deeds. If you have made 10 good but have made one mistake, people would only see the negative once. This maybe true also to those who responded to negative discussions wherein they can respond immediately.

Hi Vanilla, I can see most negative discussions like that but that doesn't really mean that it will get a lot of response from users. One cannot tell once he read the whole discussion. If it has good quality, then people would really respond to it. But if not, it doesn't deserve to be responded at all.

There are two possibilities on this line of thought: Either they want people to respond more, and therefore they can make more money, or that they genuinely believe what they typed up. I mean, it's all prejudice and stereotyping people though. I don't like discussions like those though. :( And I usually don't participate in them.

I do not like conflict to so won't respond to a discussion unless I feel really heated about the topic. That being said, discussions with silly titles are the ones that I feel are most appealing to people, not serious or negative titles.

I have actually seen some of the negative discussions that you mentioned, and I will respond to it whether it is a joke or not. As long as I have something to contribute, I will just go right on and post a response. If it is serious, and I disagree, then I can go in and have an argument. If the title is indeed misleading and the rest of the content of the discussion is totally different, then I would still respond, based on the content. The "MyLot IS a scam..." discussion would be a real good example, as was mentioned above me It sure attracted a lot of people, and the title was deceiving. . .

hi,friend,it is one of the techniques of marketing a product, and in many cases,it will be success...in my view, this discussion also come under this category...and it is human psychology,we try to do,which are suggested not to do,am i right? And what you mentioned as examples are i think become under violation of rules[ your examles + like racism, comments on cultures, personal comments..]..but what @mys posted is classical examle for your discussion.. Good discussion, have a nice time.
