Hey all, I've heard some pretty out there way's of shedding the pounds like the cabbage soup diet, the zone diet and even something as crazy as putting a tape worm in your body. (yikes) What extremes do you go to, to lose that extra weight? The craziest thing I've done is not eat any thing for days on end except for water and these crazy diet pills and exercising like a maniac, this isn't healthy and I don't recommend it.

I've been over weight all my life. I've tried everything under the sun and nothing seemed to work but LA weight loss, which i lost 96 pounds on but the results didn't last... i gained it all back and than some. After that i was really depressed and decided my only chance of getting health and being happy was to get the gastric bypass which i got done 2 years ago. I have lost 150 pounds so far and am very happy. I now am i size 11/12 and want to lose about 20 pounds more to reach my goal.

Good job in doing something about it! Congrats on the weight loss, and i hope your next 20 pounds are a breeze! Although it does seem that the last pounds are the hardest to get rid of, exercising alot will help you to tone up.

Thank you. Its funny loses 150 was easy and losing that last 20 is soooo hard! You'd think after losing that much weight 20 would be so easy. I do need to exercise more thats for sure. I just hate doing it sooo much. I still feel kinda awkward working out in from of people so a gym is out.

I would like to congratulate you with your weightloss, and that you actually decided the way was to get a gastric bypass, respect from here... I tend to see overweight people complaining that they cant loose weight and just find bad excuses for why they are overweight. You did admit it, and did something about it because it wasnt impossible :D 10 points from me to you. Kudos!

My husband and I both drink Slim Fast. We don't cut down on our eating though so it's not really working. I've started to exercise with the wii fit, it tracks your bmi and weight, and gives you an "Age" for which your body is. I'm only 6 years difference now. I do need to work on the wii more but find that I hardly have time!

That sucks you don't have alot of time, my suggestion is that while you're doing things like chores do squats as your doing them, squats are a great way to tone up your thighs/glutes. And when your watching a tv or a movie you could hop on the exercise bike or do some sit ups!

I tried what you've done except for the pill part. The older we get the harder it is to shed off those extra pounds. The best solution I found is to eat smaller meals and cut off carbohydrates especially rich (asian) or bread. It also helps to cut off your sodas or juices, so it is better to opt for water. Exercise really helps a lot to tone the body, so don't neglect it. When you go to malls, use the stairs instead of elevator or escalator. These are simple ways that helped me. I hope it does you good too..Don't go with starvation because the weight loss in that is just temporary because the body is not designed for starvation. You metabolism slows down when you starve then eat, so it makes you gain even more when you then go back to eating. Good luck.

Yeah I recently cut out carbs and sugar, and I'm seeing awesome results. Binging/purging I learned has no rewards and actually slows your metabolism.. haha but thanks for the advice!

I eat whatever I want, I don't pay a lot of attention to nutrition, or calories or anything. But, I don't have a car, I just walk wherever I need to go. If it's far I'll take the bus, but I try to walk everywhere. I think this really helps, because when I get lazy and sit around too much, or when my friends give me rides places, I start to gain weight. But, if I keep walking where I need to go, it seems like I stay in relatively good shape. I read an article a few years ago, that said Americans were statistically more overweight than Europeans, and they related it to the fact that more Europeans walk or bike to work, stores, etc... Whether that's true or not, I thought it was a good idea. So, I started walking everywhere, and it really helps.

I lost 70 lbs in 1 year with no exercise simply by cutting my meal portions in half, eating 4-6 smaill meals a day and not drinking my calories. All of my meals were balanced with protein (30%), carbs (40%) and fat (30%). Our bodies not only need fuel but they need all 3 of the above mentioned type of fuel to stimulate different parts of the body in the battle to burning fat. Here's a tip: the liver is one of the most important organs that contribute to metabolizing fat. So your best bet is to do some research on what is good and what is harmful to the liver.

2hrs a day @ the gym & a low carb diet.... sadly I can't afford a gym membership & if I could the child care expense would bury me in debt.

One of the best methods I have always found is first by starting to exercise more, second increasing my liquid intake. Yes, that means more water. It really does help flush out your system. Next, I work on changing my eating habits. I am terrible. I love food. You name it, I will try it at least once. But, alas, this has started to show in some health issues like high cholesterol and weight gain. So, today, I vowed that I would try once again to get my weight back under control and start to get back into shape. This morning, I had some toast with cheese on it and a half of a grapefruit for breakfast and a cup of coffee. For lunch it will be steamed rice with veggies and turkey, an apple or pear and then a large cup of water. Snacks, I try to eat pretzels or fruit. But, it isn't easy. For dinner tonight, I am not sure as to what I will be having yet. But, I want to make sure it is as healthy as possible. I know it is all going to be a challenge but, I also know in the long run it will be beneficial to my health and well being. Good Luck!

Changeing minor things in the eating habits can make you acchieve weightloss, but if you want a faster weightloss you certainly need to exercise. I changed my eating habbits into smaller meals, but more often, this help increasing the metabolism. Also i eat more vegetables than meat, and also take a look at the calorie contain, eat the food with higher fibers as you will feel filled for longer compared to less fiber food. I also changed from the regular milk to 0% fat milk and other diary products also. So far i have lost about 5kilos this way. (Note im not overweight, but was close becomming overweight if i didnt change my lifestyle, food wise) Also keep in mind Muscles way more than fat...

Hi snafushe, well i have tried quite a number of things too, like eating vegetables and fruits only for meals and running everyday in the morning and night. But soon after i lose my motivation to do so. the wierdest thing that i have heard and done was to drink pure lemon juice straight out of lemon early in th morning. Yes i know it sounds crazy. but this was what someone told me and the person who did it actually lost alot of mass. well therefore i gave it a try and i do not know if i am imagining things, but i think there is quite a difference. Well but i was told to drink it the moment i wake up without brushing my teeth. It does sound gruesome indeed.well after considering for awhile i did not do that step of drinking pure lemon early in the morning without brushin my teeth though but tried it afer brushing my teetth. It was really quite bad a taste intially especially having it on a empty stomach. but i guess after awhile one would get used to it. Well i guess if it works then why not. But nonetheless i believe that running is the best and effective way to lose some pounds of. But again something like running has to have alot of motivation, consistency and time. Well if one has all these three, then i think the best way is to run. Have a great day ahead.. Best regards, alvingb

I've heard of all those "diet" methods, too- though a tapeworm is pretty much cheating and extremely risky... I was vegan for a while, and I lost a ton of weight without really trying; I'm just vegeterian now. I'd say the best way to lose weight is to cut out carbs, replace them with vegetables and reduce the amount of fat in the foods you eat.

I never go extreme to lose weight because i know the price will be high. The most effective and healthy way is to do more exercise and have regular meals.Don't just see the instant benefit, the two elements i mentioned will bring you greater benefit in the long run.

For most people, losing weight is issues not easy. You need to understand that the most fundamental of weight loss program is combination among energy revenues or eating with energy expenditure or exercise. You need to make permanent changes in behavior and determine how changes should be made permanent. For that, follow the following things: 1. Make Commitment The reduced weight permanently takes time and effort. This requires focus and commitment for life. Make sure that you are ready to make changes and assure yourself that your path is correct. Nobody can lose weight. In fact, it was pressure from the outside, though it was the people closest to you just make things worse. When you start these changes, try to solve other problems. The focus of the program clearly needed energy. So, make sure that your focus is not split. 2. Seek Emotional Support Only you can help the success of this program on the responsible behavior is expected. But that does not mean it should be lived alone. seek moral support from spouse, family and friends. Find someone who really pay attention to you and able to provide support. With whom you are expected to be consistent with all the changes about to run. 3. remained active and continued to Move Just do diet don't change your weight. To every 3500 calories (half a kilogram) that enters the body, you have to throw it with walk for thirty minutes every day for five times a week. This will increase the weight. You must reminder. The purpose sports basically burn calories, even though there are other benefits too. And how many calories you burn depends on the frequency, duration and intensity of activity. One of the best ways to remove fat is to keep doing aerobic exercises such as walking more than 30 minutes. If possible every day. Although regular aerobic schedule is the best way to lose weight, the extra activity will help burn calories. In this, Your Daily lifestyle can help you, for example by trying to choose the stairs rather than elevators. Or biking when you go and leave office than use a motorcycle or a car

Hi snafushe I have never had too many troubles with my weight(until last year). Once i lost some weight becuase i got very sick and i could not eat anything. I lost something like 10 pounds. Its not the most advisable thing to do though. Now you can try what my brother does. He counts his calories daily and he has erase sugar from all of his foods. Other thing you could do is doing good exercise daily. Running or swimming might be a good choice.
