There was a difference in qualitywise, quantitywise in responses posted by members to new mylotters and senior mylotters.. For new mylotters, the responses they are getting fot their discussions are precise,simple..some info.. For regular mylotters, the responses they are getting by co members are eloberate, timely, appropriately and with quality.. Have you observed this difference?

Yes. I have noticed this alot with new members. they do not know that they need to post a quality discussion and a quality response to be valued here in Mylot. I have noticed some of the older members, do know, and they post alot better.

I do not see that difference. But some members are regularly giving detailed responses and some are accustomed to give simple responses. Your responses are always in detail with good points.

I have observed that the older members seem to elaborate more while the newer members are uneasy and type less. Though soemtimes even I am an uneasy and type less, I try to type as much as possible to clarify, and to keep a discussion going... One liners are frowned upon so I try to follow protocol so to speak and type more.

hi,cow,at one stage, everybody feels uneasy..but by and large i am discussing amd some times few words also sufficient if they are effective. But for all discussions,it is not applicable and we have to write atleast 3-5 lines... Have a nice time.

I have noticed this. Being a new mylotter myself i sometimes find myself unsure what to write or how to go about replying to a topic. More experienced mylotter might not feel the same and more easily reply to topics.

That true and newbie like me is not really into long response as i would like it short and more concise as lot of lotters reply with elaborate just filling the space with lot of non sense replies.peace!:)

Well being precise does not count. you have to elaborate on your replies if you want to earn more. Newbies could be precise but some are still on the process of learning on how to elaborate their posts to discussions. One liner won't earn you much or probably nothing at all. It's all in your choice of words and how you explain things in detail that counts. As the say "Practice makes perfect". Cheers!

hi,ybong, you are absolutely right. Many members see their numbers only..but not concentrating on quality responses, especially in new biews..i think it is lack of experience and guidence.. Have a nice time.

No, I don't observe that kind of things. What I've observed is that you have so many spelling errors (yeah, me too). My responses are short, since I'm a slow typer, but I'm not a newbie here. Happy mylotting then!

I know that most of the responses to this discussion have been about the responses that newer members give on discussions compared to the responses that more experienced members give on discussions. I agree that the responses of a member generally improve over time, because users not only realize what is expected of them but also become more familiar with the site, which makes it easier for them to go into more detail and be more comfortable with their responses. However, if I read your discussion correctly, you were actually talking about the responses by other members to the newer user's discussions versus the responses by other members to more experienced member's discussions. I believe that sometimes the responses by other members to newer user's discussions are shorter and more precise, because the newer member does not provide enough detail in the original discussion to really sustain a good back and forth dialog, such as with one or two line discussion topics. Also, as people become more familiar with each other over time, it is easier to relate to each other and know common interests or talk about things they have said on past discussions, etc. The bonding that comes from repeated interaction with other users provides greater opportunities for more detailed and extended discussions. This does not mean that newer users will not receive lengthy and detailed responses to their discussions but rather I think that if they try to provide more detail and "quality" in their discussions, then they will get more detailed responses, which in turn foster more back and forth dialog.

I haven't noticed. I mostly notice the spelling errors and grammar. It doesn't surprise me though. Can you tell I'm a newbie?
