Absolutely! It is better to stick on less sugary foods and avoid colas/softdrinks, choose water over those high in sugar drinks. I gained weight drinking sodas and i was surprised that even zero sugar colas can make you fat, well it says it can make you fat twice than a regular soda.

Sugar and sweets in general are empty calories. You should try and keep track of how many calories you eat a day and you'll be suprised how easily they add up. A diet high in fat, which most sweets are, will make you gain fat also. I say fat because if you exercise on a regular basis you can increase muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. Muscle increases the way your body can get rid of fat. so it's good all around.

Hi pp earn, sweets and also sugar drinks are nothing more than empty calories and you will gain weight by consuming these if its not in moderation. I think that the drinks are actually worse as things like coca cola will rot your teeth in the same way that sweets will but are also so packed with sugar that they will dissolve metal, so you can imagine the sort of damage they are doing to your insides.

Yes sugar can makes you easily gains weight like in my case for the past 3 years I gained so much weight because I love eating sweets. I have a difficulty to lose weight now. It easiy to gain weight than losing weight. It is hard to avoid eating sweets because I always craving for sweets or chocolates. Right now I'm losing a bit but I want to lose more. My problem is holidays are coming it is hard to fight the temptation not to eat to much when foods are around.

Yes, sugar increases fat. I have the kind of metabolism with which you can't get fat and even so I got 5 kg because of eating too much and not doing any exercise at all. Once I changed my eating habits and stopped being lazy I got back to my normal weight.

Calories do count so if you've increased your intake of sweets or any other food for that matter, you will gain weight. I don't think that sugar in and of itself increases fat but it does have a lot of calories. Eat as you normally would for a week or so but keep track of the food that you eat and see how many calories you're eating. I think that you'll find your answer there. Eliminate the sweets and replace them with fruit, exercise for 30-45 minutes a day and add weight training to your exercise routine and you'll take that weight off in no time. Good luck
