I think soaps are the guilty pleasure of the masses, unbelievable plots, impossible recovery and ageing or lack thereof and finally lots of love stories, that rarely end in happily ever after for long. This is the second long term soap to end in the US do you think it's a trend in the way people watch television or just that show that didn't work any more? What or who will you miss most from ATWT?

I dont watch this particular soap, but as soon as I saw it was canceled, I thought the same thing. Two just this year! I watch Days, and I hope it lasts, I would miss it (tho I would survive lol).

Days of our lives is pretty secure but one that is holding it's breath is One life to live.

Rumors have been circulating for a while about the demise of Days. Hope you are right! lol Never saw One Life To Live either.

I think that game shows and talk shows are cheaper to produce, unless your host is Oprah. Then there are the other cheaper shows like all those court room shows.

I think that is definitely happening and with Oprah leaving too, it seems that even that era is ending.

Regarding talk shows, I think there's a never ending stream of people who will try to do one. Like even Tony Danza. Regarding As the World Turns, that was one of my grandmother's favorite soaps and she passed away 30 years ago.

When I think of As The World Turns, I think of my grandparents. Every day they would put two pieces of candy out and sit and watch their soap. If you stopped over to see them at that time, you had to sit and be quiet until it was over. The only time I really followed soap operas, was when my son was very little and I was home during the day. I'm really sad for all the people that have followed the stories all these years. The characters become part of the family. I wonder if they take the fact that a lot of working women actually tape these shows and/or watch in the evening. The show will be missed by many, I'm sure.

Does CBS really think that more game shows and more talk shows is the way to go? Dr. Phil is very bad and not worth watching already so just what will they put on instead of ATWT? They already have the worst and most biased national news shows and now they are heading toward a really bad daytime schedule.

I know, it wasn't enough to kill guiding light and insult the time slot with yet another talk show, now they are going to free up another hour to fill with stuff no one wants to watch probably. At least the Young and the Restless is still popular enough they will keep it. Other than that I think about all else I watch on CBS is CSI

Television in general is changing heavily, it has been for the past few years, and what seems to be winning out is non-scripted shows because they are cheap and easy to produce.

You're kidding me? I haven't heard that yet. I'm still not over Guiding light being off the air. I will miss it peeriod, I can't believe that this one is ending too.

At least they are giving a better heads up than Guiding light did, I didn't have much time to adjust to that before it was gone. Thanks for the info
