Wild Elephants are in Human Habitation

Wild elephants are destroying fruits gardens. - Trees of the forests are being demolished by men. So the wild animals are coming in human habitations in search of food. Wild animals are also being killed by men. So natural imbalance is creating. The consequence will be dangerous for our future generation.

Wild elephants of various hilly regions of Cox'sbazar district of Bangladesh are coming in human habitations and destroying crops and fruits gardens. One forest officer said, trees of the forests are being demolished and the wild animals are coming in human habitations in search of food. This process of destroying forests are going on through out the world. When wild animals come in the human habitations many of them are killed by men. So we are loosing forests and at the same time wild animals. So natural imbalance are creating. Now World Environment Conference is going on in Copenhagen. Change of climate is the main topic of the conference. Environment and Climate both are interdependent. So I hope the world leaders will also focus on changing of environment.

Hey bhanu, this is indeed a very sad state of affairs. We in our thirst to develop are forgetting the basic principle of live and let live. Where then can our poor animals go, but to move on and find whatever vegetation is available so that they too can survive. This is indeed a dangerous trend, for they are huge animals and can crush anyone who stands in their way. When will our politicians wake up and stop the developers from encroaching forest. I sincerely hope there is some talk of re-forestation at the Conference.

Yes just making new rules and throwing money at the problem will not cure it. Humans need to learn new ways to live and let live on this planet.

I too feel the same way bhanusb. We need the land to grow more food. We've tried to find a new way to increase food production but that is long way off. We are left with no choice but to opt for deforestation. In process, there is nothing to stop rain waters gushing into seas and increasing sea levels. Earlier, the roots f the trees and the soil in them formed a soaking pit kind of arrangement, which held back substantial amount of water. We search for cures. There might be something from one of these likely to become extinct animals. I am for saving animals, and forests. If necesssary, I'd say stop increasing number of mouths to feed.

Yes vandana, I agree that to solve the problem it's necessary to stop increasing number of mouths of food. But it depends on poverty and education. Poverty stricken people are mostly illiterate and they are not aware of population growth and its consequences. So first elimination of poverty and educated the people should get priority. Campaign should also be taken for awareness against deforestation and stop killing wild animals. Thank you.
