Don't you find that playing board games reveals a lot about a person?

Yesterday my company had a bonding session where there were 10 board games available, and we had to form teams to play. It was interesting cos I got to meet a lot of people for the first time. And it was also interesting because I only knew how to play one of the 10 games. The rest were new. So I played 5 in total, learnt 4 of them on the spot. They included Loot, Saboteur, Tumbling Monkeys, Cloud 9 and Ugly Doll. People's personalities really came out during the board games' sessions! The most obvious one is that you can see who has a competitive streak, who has a more live-and-let-live attitude, who will do anything to tear others down so he gets ahead, who works well in a team, who will take risks, who will try to help others, who's mr nice guy etc. It has helped me 'get to know' the person more easily than if we were in a meeting, and everyone wears a mask and says things that are scripted. since there was nothing really to lose from the games, I believe most people were true to themselves. I enjoyed the session very much! When was the last time you played a board game?

Heh heh... I never knew that one could read so much from other people's action during a game play! Wow! Since there was nothing really to lose from the games, like you said, most people will be true to themselves when letting their hair down!

Wow. I need to do that at my company. I think I will arrange a board game day. As we get closer to the holidays our work slows down a lot. Thanks for the tip. Great suggestion.

I think board games can tell us a little bit about a person also. It can tell us if they are aggressive, permissive, smart and a few other things. It can also tell us if they are childish also if they do not win.

Indeed true that board games does reveal a lot about one - more evident if the player gets too engrossed and is losing the game... The only adult boardgame that I have played so far is Cashflow and it is years back.

Out of the 4 u mentioned, i know none of those!! lol =D BUt i do agree, playing board games or maybe any other kind of games, will allow us to see the personality of others.. haha =D NO matter how well they hide themselves during work, they will always give themselves away, for it's a time to relax and be their true self.. haha =D It's just the same like playing mahjong.. SOme will be grinning and talkative when they keep winning.. BUt, when they lose a little, they will show a very black face, and be scolding anybody who's in their way of winning big.. lol =D I think the last time i played board game, was about 2 years ago, during my ICT.. haha =D

Wow...i never knew that games could reveal the personality of a person. For me in every games there's always two person involve... the loser and the winner. You are a very observant person because you happened to unmask your coworkers attitude just by playing games. How I wish I can have that ability.
