If you were given a choice of living permanently in either the Arctic or Antarctic or the burning desert of say, the Sahara, Kalahari or Death Valley, which would be your choice and why? Remember no other place in the world except these locations.

Well i would rather choose the poles. there are various reasons behind this. 1. The poles got water but the desert does not 2. People can cope up with cold by wearing clothes but cant with heat by taking them off as doing so in the deserts means sun burns 3. We can find food(fish) it the deeper waters where the water is warm whereas we get food rarely in deserts 4. We can hunt for seals, penguins, bears(hehe) and so on 5. If we are fortunate enough we can discover a hot spring even in the poles 6. And lastly the skin tone changes from white to blackkkkkkkk

dude not much of it was from Man Vs Wild. However the sunburn thing and the hot spring thing was from man Vs wild. Other things was just from my common knowledge. Anyways thanks.u also have a good day ahead.

and yes also forgot about the fun part there. In my opinion there'e much fun in the poles. skying can be done and similarly igloos can be made.hehe.and poles doesnt mean that its severe cold all year round.poles also have summer and winter seasons though summer seasons are shorter. however we can make the best of the seasons. Also as i am from a mountainous country, i am habituated to cold climates rather than hot climates.I also love cold climate. thus i prefer the poles rather than the deserts.

Well I would have to pick the sahara desert because as can't stand the cold weather and know matter how many layers of clothes I put on I will still be cold. So the desert will be good for me. I would just wear a bathing suit and drink plenty of liquids and be find. I hope!

Where will you get the liquids in a desert?

I'd chose the desert because I don't like cold. At either of the poles, one would have to stay inside or wrapped up to the point that one might as well be inside. It gets cool at night in the desert. Also, it does rain there sometimes, and there are oasises.

Oh my.... this is a very hard question! I think I would choose a desert location, although I would not be very happy about it! It would take a lot to get used to it. I can barely stand Texas heat. I can't imagine what a desert must feel like in the heat of summer! LOL - let's just hope this doesn't become a reality!

It could very well happen if global warming became more intense. So be prepared for whatever outcome !!!

Thats fine Gayathri, but suppose you were forced to stay there in either place because every other place in the world was destroyed, then where would you chose to live?LOL.Thanks for the comment.

I would choose the Arctic. I figure that I can always put more clothes on when I am cold. Yet in the desert you can only take so much off when you are hot. Then you are still hot. Plus if you dig yourself into the snow enough it will help keep you warmer. Yes I would choose a pole any day. Plus there is plenty of water from melting the snow, which you cant find in the Desert.

You will be in a position to survive in the next Ice Age as and when it comes but what if the opposite happens and the world turns into a dessert?Blame the global warming.LOL.

I prefer to live in the Poles. As there are almost no creatures in the desert. And it is so hot and especially it is quite difficult to find water in the desert. It is suffering to live there. Whereas I can see some animals in the Poles. The disadvantage is it is cold there. But at least you don't have to worry about the water. I like there much more. I love China

Would pick the Arctic or Antarctic! You can always dress warmer and there will always be water available there so you can survive. You can only take so much OFF clothes-wise and then you sunburn and run out of water in the desert. At least that is how I am thinking of it.

It, as all things, would depend. If i have the right clothing for the extreme cold I would probably go for the Antartic since the temp would be more level and not extreme and then change. But, if I didn't have the correct clothing I would go for the desert although I don't care for the extreme heat and then cold at night.

I don't know how far I am saying is right.. But, if that situation have come, my choice will be, aortic or Antarctic poles not in a desert.. because, we will have some plains in poles.. bet, we will not get rain drops years to gather in desert... and also, there are so many poisonous insects and reptiles are in desert...

I would choose the desert because I'm much immune to the heat than the cold. And in the middle of the desert there's always an oasis which has water and some trees for cooling off during the day. And it's cooler at night. Just beware of the sandstorm. And I guess there are people living in the deserts than people living in the arctic or antarctic except for a few who are in for research or in the army sattioned there. Nomads have been living in the desert for years and have been suriving.

I would chose the poles , cause they have food and plenty of water ..despite the harsh cold which I can easily counter by building an igloo. If you have ever been in an igloo , you would know it's pretty comfortable and warm. For clothes I would have to improvise , I would probably hunt a few mammals that live there and use their thick fur coats as clothes , this would make life bearable ... I think I would survive much better in the poles than in any desert ... there is more life at the poles than in any known desert.
