Do you type gently on the keyboard?

I have seen people who learned typing on the typewriter, type hard on the keyboard. It seemed like they wanted to break each and every key. I prefer to type softly. What about you?

how I type really depends on a few things A) what mood I am in (if I am angry I type harder) B) whats going on around me (if people are still sleeping then I am more likely to soft key it rather than pound) C) how much time I have (I tend to type hard if I am rushed)

Oh yes, I too type gently and it is so much better to the ears, though the keys keep tapping even when we type gently. So those who type real hard are a pain to my ears. The tapping of keys in a hard way grates my nerves and very often I politely go and tell the person jokingly whether he is bent on breaking the keyboard. Putting a little sense into his head the joking way.

Hey Vanillarey! I first learned to type on a typewriter many many years ago! But, I have been typing on computer keyboards now for many years too! I definitely don't bang on the keys! It is true that different keyboards have different touchs so sometimes some keyboards require lighter or heavier keystrokes! But, I have never found any that require banging! I guess it also depends on the person typing! If someone has a heavy hand then they may just have a heavier touch then someone else! But, typewriters have been extinct for so many years now I find it hard to believe that they are to blame!

I try to type as gently as I can. But admittedly, sometimes I don't really pay much attention to how hard I'm typing. Especially when I start typing fast. I guess I probably type a bit harder than I should when I don't really think about it. Even as I typed this post out, I kept having to remind myself to try not hitting the keyboard so hard lol.

My touch is like a feather. Well, not actually. But I do type softly. I learned typing at home using a software and never said to go easy on the keys. Thank God, it was a quality I always had. Otherwise, there would be no keys left to press in my keyboard.

I think it depends on the individual. One who writes hard will tend to type hard. I am one hard typer. Not sure why, but the harder I type, the faster I can go, and the more accurate it is. Perhaps the soft touch does not have the right appeal. LOL.

When I see people typing hard on the office keyboard, I will tell them not to type that hard as to ruin the keys. I am a gentle typist. I think that it is because I have been used to typing gently on my laptop keyboard. I take very good care of my keyboard as I know that it is hard to get a replacement for it once it is damaged.

I think people who learn typing on typing machine, they have a habbit of hitting the keys a little harder than usual but people who learn typing on PC itself, they have a habit of using gentle fingers on keyboards. For me, I like to use gentle hands on it. I have learnt it on keyboard itself.

Hi vanillarey Hm, if before type in laptop or computers they usually type in typewriter, then it's understandable. You know, the keyboard in typewriter is hard, it really need to be hit in order to make clear alphabet. Type softly is the best in laptop/computer, you can't type softly with typewriter, because the alphabet won't appear clearly and still, can't erase its loud sounds! Of course, in computer or laptop, type slowly is the best. type hardly can attract people's attention and damage your keyboard! For me, it depends on my mood,,hehehe If I'm angry or in bad mood, I'll type hardly and super fastly (with many typos, of course), If I'm normal, I'll type gently..

Well for me it depends....Usually I'll type softly.I don't really care if someone is sleeping or not.I'll still type the way I usually type and that is softly. But when it comes to gaming that's when the beast in me is unleashed :D.I'll start hitting the keyboard and banging the mice on the table pretty hard.Usually when I'm losing or there are hackers in the game.Hate those hackers.....

I prefer tp type softly also but it does not always work well. some of the keys have to be tapped just a little bit harder to make sure they register. I try to type softly and quietly though, but make sure to tap firmly to make sure it registers.

I learned on a typewriter also. But if you type to hard on my keyboard you punch out to many letters therefore spelling words wrong, so I have to be careful. I have been on the computer long enough now to know how to type faster and not harder.

Hi Vanillarey, I am used to typewriters and i am one of those whom you are referring as someone who almost wants to break the keyboard. but right now i am taking my slow phase to prove that i can also make it--the soft way of typing. it's more harder when i am upset hehehehe. you will know that i am still up in the wee time of night with the kind of keyboard touch i make. i am trying my best to do it light and i am starting to do it now!

I don't really know, I think I type softly but sometimes I type harder. I would just say that my typing is in between soft and hard. There is never a need to bang the keys and I don't think I ever type softly, either.

hi vanillarey^^;; i do type like you. soft and gentle with the keyboard and almost no sound because i bought a keyboard that needs only soft touch. i am easily annoyed with the sound of like typing in a typewriter. i have a friend that types using the typical way, i mean just using only 2 fingers on each hand and whenever she press the enter key, she do it with full force..as if it will not "enter" if it will be done softly. it's like "tik-tak-tik-tak...TACK!" i don't know what wrong with her and with that "Enter" key. sometimes i wonder if it will last long either

I was the same as you, type softly.I had seen some boys in cyberbar. They play games and type the keyboard hardly. I was afraid if they break the the keyboard, they should paid money for what they've done. I had asked one of them why they type so hardly, they said they feel they are full of energy if they do so.How werid!
