Even you are alone, you can play chess using the internet. The good thing about that is you will be able to play against people from other countries where it's hard to do offline. There are a lot of sites where you can be able to play chess live, but as of now I only play chess in two sites. One is in YahooGames and the other one is in chess.com. Chess.com is my favorite as of now. It also has rating, stats and other stuffs for you to enjoy and improve chess more. You can also chat with your opponent while playing. I dont know how to play chess. That's one of my frustrations because Im really fascinated with the game. Its a very good strategy game that can really enhance one's skills in critical thinking. I tried to learn it on my own as a child but I didnt get to practice as much that I forgot even the basics of it. I know some of the possible moves and restrictions of each piece but when it comes to playing it, Im like a deer in headlights.

Hi! Learning things is not really that difficult nowadays, by the presence of internet. You can always search for chess tutorials online. I suggest that you also watch video tutorials such as in youtube. You can find chess basics that will give you idea how chess is really play. After knowing how to play, you just have to continue reading and watching tutorials and keep on practicing. I hope you will be able to learn chess and learn how to enjoy it to the fullest. i don't play chess on or offline..but my husband do! whenever he's on the computer, its either he's playing poker or chess...
right now, he plays chess on yahoo as well as on come2play. and i think he's really enjoying it, playing with people from other parts of the world, and he was able to improve his chess skills... and what makes it more exciting is that you can bet against you opponent...using those tokens...

You're husband must be a good player now having played a lot of times. Yes playing online makes us a better player and improve our skills. Tell him about chess.com site, I'm sure he will also like it. Coz when you are playing, aside from your username and rating, the flag of your country representing is also indicated, that's why it's like playing in a tournament. Beginners are also welcome there because there's a tutorial section there. It's really a good site for chess players, I recommend it. i can't say if my husband is that good no in playing but i know that he has improved a lot...
i already told him about the chess.com but it looks like it don't work here... i just don't know why but maybe he will give it a try again...coz he's just so addicted in playing chess on line! but you know, its a great help coz he even improved a lot in playing chess in real...haha and he actually beats already one of his friend that he can't beat in the past!
yeah, poker is also addictive, i am once a poker addict, but now i already passed it to my husband! hehe he's a chess & poker addict!

I love playing chess. I play it in real life. I have played it on my PC also with a pre-loaded stuff. However, I have not tried to play it on-line ever. Thanks for telling us about the sites, where one can play on-line. I can understand that it would be a great fun playing the game on-line, as it would give you a feeling of a real match between the two opponents. Whenever, I get an opportunity, I'll try the game on-line.

Yes it's better to play in actual but in my case, I cannot always find someone to play with, that's why internet is handy and a good substitute. Yes, you can play against computer, but sometimes it gets boring, and playing chess live in the internet against real people is really as exciting as playing in real life, sometimes it's even better. But from real chessboard to monitor chessboard, you will need a little adjustment. If you are already comfortable with it, then playing chess online will really give you fun and excitement. I have played chess online before. But not that much. To be honest, I'm not really that good at the game both virtual and with the physical game. So I don't really play it that much. But I might check out that chess.com site sometime. It sounds interesting and fun, even if I'm not that good lol.

I am just an average chess player. I believe that to improve our chess skills, we just need to keep on practicing and playing chess. Chess.com is a good site not just to play chess but to learn and improve chess as well. It has tutorial section which include articles and videos. I love playing any games online. Chess is one of my favorite game online. I hardly play at Chess.com but I do play almost everyday at my computer or at Play E4. It is an online gaming website where you need to download their software for free and it will update every minute. You can get to play with anyone this word but for fun money or real money only. This makes chess not only interesting but also competitive.
I do use lot of websites which supports playing chess. I dont remember all those sites now as I do play only using Play E4. Do come to PlayE4 and enjoy new way of playing games.

Hello markoney this is checkmail and long time no see, where were you.Anyways i like to play chess online, but required an high speed to run on mine computer.The site 24X7GAMES.com is an good site to play chess, its good for learning as well as playing real chess tournaments, yeah there are also cash prizes for it.I also played some practice chess games over there, but actually couldn't play due to low connection.Its an quick chess thing, also improves our skills to interact in short time in the game.There was less lose and more wins for me in the online chess at 24x7games.com site.I enjoyed playing chess online and also wish to upgrade the net con so will be able to play chess online again.Overall it improves our ability to think as well an increase our intellectual means.Anyways Happy Mylotting.

hi,i often play chess in the internet,sometimes i will play chess with computer whose level is relatively low ,i can win most time ,it is a entertainment for me .but sometimes i will play with other people to complete with them to gain sense of content .if you are beaten by others,you can learn from them ,there are superior in the internet ,they are so shap that they hide them in the life.when you play chess in the internet ,you will focus on it to forget other things.
