What do you give to your postal or newspaper carrier for Christmas?

I'm wondering what others give to their postal carriers or newspaper carriers for Christmas. I always wrap a batch of Christmas cookies and give a gift card to a local restaurant or coffee shop. I think it's important to remember them and to say thanks for their service throughout the year. Does anyone else do anything to show your appreciation, and if so, to whom and what do you do?

Yes me and my mother would also bake cookies, fudge and stuff and give a plate full to the postman/woman along with a greeting card. It makes them feel good about themselves and what they do. I wouldn't like to be them during the winter months and bad weather they have to go through. I am also sure their job isn't easy, especially when some get upset that they didn't get their "letter" or "box" they were to get. I don't have a newspaper carrier but know of many who deliver the papers.

I'm sure their job isn't easy, not only having to deal with the changing weather, but the animals along the route, also.

I usually give my mail man (not being sexist because he is a man) some kind of $10.00 gift card for somewhere, one year it was Burger King, one year it was for a book store, last year I got him a certificate good for 2 free movie tickets. I think I have lost my regular mail man though that I have had for 10 years. I have not seen him for over 2 weeks, unless he is just taking a long vacation. He was a really good mailman, he was really nice and went over and above. I am about to cancel my newspaper subscription that I only get on weekends until next spring when there are garage sales again so I probably won't get the carrier anything. My newspapers are always soggy anyways.

We have a new mailman this year, as our old one retired earlier this year. I haven't had the opportunity to get to know our new one yet, but he seems friendly. Too bad about your paper delivery, we have a great lady who delivers very early, no matter what the weather, and the paper is right at our door.

I just give them a nice huge assortment of homemade Christmas cookies, and a card. Personally, I'm not in a position to give out presents for somebody who earns way more than I do and a pension plan and benefits to boot lol. Not that I'm not appreciative of what they do, but it's not like their a wait staff earning minimum wage and dependent on tips to get by. I do thank them and give them a little something, but I keep it within my own means. At restaurants and such, I leave a bigger tip than my usual 15-20%, but again, within what I can afford that isn't earmarked for bills. When I did get the paper, they got more because their income from delivering papers is just as low as wait staff. Happy Holidays deannad:-) I see you're fairly new..welcome to myLot!

I was really thinking about that since last week. Our postal carriers is already like a friend to us because he bring letters to us regularly. My mom plans to buy toys as presents for his children this holiday season. And I plan to give some chocolates too.

how nice to think of his family, also. I'm not sure if my carrier has kids, but I figure if he does, he can share the cookies. :)
