The number of beggars have grown, why is it so?

Beggars - The beggars have increased in number over the years.

In the recent years, the prices of food and commodities have grown up, but the number of beggars have grown eccentrically. And the way these people beg also has changed a lot. People asking for money for kids, and people with physical handicap. People knocking on the doors and asking money for orphans(But you never see them) who they are taking care of. There is always a lot of cheating that helps these beggars make more money. Will the number go down? What can be done to prevent to lessen?

I think that begging has increased because of the world's economy. I think that now that the economy has gone down in so many places, people are losing jobs and have to resort to begging. I realize that there's people out there who really do not need to beg but still do because they are lazy or for another reason altogether, but I think there are some people who beg and may not tell the real reason why they are begging, but nonetheless still truly need the money.

Ya rightly said, some people beg, eventhough there is no need for them to do so. It is more because of lazyness, and the other thing is nowadays a beggar earns more than a daily wages worker.

It is sad if that is so, that is to say, that beggars earn more... as if you think about it the beggars are receiving someone's hard earned cash... maybe even SAVED cash. Well I hope that there will not be a need this holiday season for people to beg, but I most certainly believe that their will be a few beggars out, sad though it is.

Weird thing is that beggars are one of those few occupations in life that you you actually earn more if you are good at it--dramatically so.

Yes you are saying the truth b4balaji.But some of this people are real beggars while others are fake.So it will be difficult to know who is real and who is not since its not written on their faces that this is a real beggar and that is a fake beggar. For me the only way to stop the is by creating a community wher all beggars and those who need help.In that community the teach them and at the end of the instruction or studies the give them a means of leaving and send them into the world back and see how the will react and how the use what there have studied.

I also noticed during Christmas there's a lot of beggars asking for alms. We are also gets annoyed to the people asking donations for church or for orphanages they taking advantage of the Christmas season. It is hard to trust someone because we never know if they are telling the truth or not.

Hi b4balaji, Yes you are absolutely right.Beggars have been increased considerably.Government also should take some serious actions if government also feel so.Many reason may be behind this. I think population is one of the biggest reason.Even we see that a couple with nothing will go for more children. And at last they will start begging.Individual person can't do here much.

Hi mtvmtv: Maybe it's not just because of the population. China hast the biggest population in the whole world and at least i think they don't have big problems with beggars. I think the more important things against begging should be done in our government- economic politics that make people able to have a normal life, a job, something to do and so they will not be in the streets. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day.

I believe that the reason why the beggar population had increased reflects the situation in society which is the increase in poverty level. If there were enough job opportunities for everyone who would beg on the streets right? The government plays the key role in solving this problem. The citizens also have a role to play. However, unless the government makes the first step, then this problem will never be solved

There will always be beggars. For some, it is more profitable than a real job--others are simply not suitable to be hired in a lot of ways.

Hello, Yes and this number will grow. There are even kids that are begging for money on the streets. You have some parents here where I live am that allow their children to do this because a child will more than likely receive money than an adult. I don't like that a parent would put her child up to this. Very sad....

The thing is beggars are always going to be around whether or not the economy is in a bust or a boom. There was actually one guy in my area that who instead of having a job just stood in the corner in the name of Jesus because he made more money that way. I think for the problem to go down people need to stop giving them money. Maybe once they see its not going to work they'll actually work to find an actual job. Also, arresting them isn't going to help because then they're just getting free food and a place to stay on the tax payer's expense.

Hi b4balaji, You're right, I've noticed this in my country too. the number of people resorting to begging has considerably increased though time. It seems to be a global problem now, and the reason is glaring - it's because of poor economy that has hit all countries rich and poor. I would count the people's attitude towards work as another reason, some just don't what hard work and prefer to feed on other's pity. It's a sad situation and I hope the coming year will be a better one for all of us.

actually where i'm at the number of beggars have decreased because of the holiday season. there are lots of shelters open for the homeless this time around. Plus the police have cleared out the streets of the homeless to make our city look "cleaner" for the olmpics. Basically we open up lots of free buildings for homeless people to sleep. Needless to say there are still many beggers on the streets because what the government is doing is not addressing the problems of our poor and mentally ill.

Because many don't have work and they have many children to feed for food and no other way they do just to be a beggars.

Hi b4balaji: I think there's no way to fight against these but to give people opportunities of working and don't give them money because if we give them some money theyre will always more and more persons with needs doing this. I think the governement should fight against this problem a lot. Thanks for your question. Have a nice day. -Alvaro.

increase in price of food will never make a person beggar.I have seen beggars having cellphones and debit cards. At the same time there are beggars who don't even have food to eat everyday. The reason for increase in beggars is that beggars are having more kids than the middle class people.Their attitude is that if they have 5 kids then they can send 5 of them for begging and thereby earn some more money. Our govt is also not doing much to reduce the number of beggars. All they can do is to provide them free education and reservations for govt jobs. But the beggars are interested in begging only.

Global economic recession. As this problem gets worse, expect that poor people and poverty will really pop out of the society

Because many people are too lazy to work for a good life. They just rely on pure lack and mercy. One thing more is the problem of unemployment, instead of going into a decent work, we can find them on the streets begging by no choice, a very sad fact.
