I just wonder if how many people today that still awaits christmas just like when they were little... the thoughts of Santa Claus, opeing of gifts, having a vacation or visiting friends and relatives- makes us all excited-!!! But what about now that we are grown-ups. Maybe some of us are away from our family, maybe some of us just lost a love one, or maybe jobless... The cruelty of our world today makes most of us "down"... so now that the christmas season is here... do you still get excited???

When I was a child I loved christmas because of the presents, and I was really excited. In Denmark we open the presents when we have eaten the christmas dinner, and I never really enjoyed the food, I just wanted us to finish eating as soon as possible so that we could start opening the presents As an adult my perspective is different. The presents are not very important to me any longer, I appreciate the presents that I get and I enjoy picking out presents for others, but it is not the most important thing. It is much more important to me to spend some time with my family. Both of my grandmothers are quite old (84 and 92) and I don't know how many years I will be able to celebrate christmas with them, so every year is precious

You have a point. Me too, now that i have my own family and a son... my views on Christmas change. I am not excited for the gifts that i will be opening but i am excited on buying gifts to my son and husband. I want to see them smiling and enjoying Christmas... for me Christmas is being with them and that alone makes me feel happy. By the way, i live in Sweden, Gothenburg... quite near from Denmark. Have a MErry Christmas!!!

The excitement of Christmas for me is through my grandson's eyes. I love his excitement over out putting up the tree and how he wants to look at every house that has Christmas decorations on their lawn. I love how he tells everyone what he wants Santa Claus to bring him and how he recalls Christmases past. I love how he still wants to make his artwork for his loved ones rather than buying gifts because he wants to give something from his heart. That to me is what Christmas is all about. I know that for many people Christmas is a most depressing time because of the things we cannot do or the things we do not have. I would ask those people to please try to step outside of themselves and try to concentrate on making someone else's Christmas a little brighter. It does not have to be with anything monetary. They might find they themselves are a little happier.

WOW!!! Christmas is indeed the season of joy and being with our loved ones. Material things does not matter as long as we see our loved ones happy and glowing with smiles. I like your comment!
