A Freebie Christmas

We are so broke right now, would you ever considering searching freebie sites and if you see something a loved one might like, getting that ordered for them instead since it's free??? Or would you feel bad?? I mean Christmas is about giving, not about money, anyway...so I don't feel too bad, but at the same time, I just wish I could do more for my family.

I wouldn't feel bad and I have done it when I knew it was something the person would absolutely love. It's truly not the cost of the gift..a true gift should reflect how well you know the person and that you care enough about them to know what they like and care about, the cost shouldn't factor in to it. I have never worried if I spent more on one person or another because I give things people will love. I try hard to anyway. We were pretty broke one year and I knew Christmas would be hard months in advance, for the stocking stuffers I started going to the local macdonalds and burger king and would just buy the toys from the kids meals, usually for under a 1.00 each. By the time christmas came I had enough stored up to divide them between 3 stockings and 2 gift bags. My 27 year old still remembers that as one of the best christmases he ever had. If you are with your family, you have already done for them what they truly want, don't let money keep you from enjoying them or the holiday. We do what we can.

I wouldn’t feel bad; it is supposed to be the thought that counts. I learned that again just tonight. I bought a simple five dollar box of chocolate for as friend as a little token for Christmas only to receive a brand new handbag and a nice gift for my daughter! I felt bad at first that she spent so much more money and I had to remind myself that it is not about money but about giving from the heart what you can manage and a true friend would have no problem with that at all. If you have children remember that it is the time they have with you that will treasure in their memories not the gifts you buy for them!

No, I wouldn't feel bad. I do that also and my family knows that I do and sometimes those freebies come in handy when they need the thing/stuff. Many more people are starting to do that now for the bad economy, laid offs and unemployed. Some of these freebies you can find are just as nice if not more.

I wouldn't feel bad at all about giving or getting freebies as presents. I'd know that the person who ordered it would have made an effort on my behalf. Its not the cost of the gift, its the love that its given with.

I wouldn't mind or feel bad, I actually wish I could spend more time and find more places to get freebies because I have always told my husband that I thought it would be neat to be like that one couple that was on wifeswap or trading spouses that would do all of the sweepstakes and/or freebies and save all of that money. How is one to know the difference?
