The last good book I've read was "Shopaholic and Baby" by Sophie Kinsella. But I'm definitely looking to branch out and see what everyone else is reading, and what's good to them. I love memoirs, historical fiction, mystery, chick lit, political nonfiction, some supernatural..Pretty much anything goes with me, so long as the writer is a tad bit skilled in the "writing" department and the book is interesting to me.
What was the last (good) book you've read about? What's it called & who's the author? Would you suggest someone to read it?
To answer my own question - the last good book, as I mentioned, was "Shopaholic and Baby" by Sophie Kinsella. I did like it, but I feel like you need to read the earlier books of the series before reading this one. It only makes sense if you read what happens before what happens in this book! But it's pretty much a continuation of what happens in her previous books. An eccentric "shopaholic", Becky/Rebecca, deals with being pregnant, her & her husband's trust issues, dealing with pregnancy "urges", and trying to turn around her flop of a job.. All t while remaining light-hearted and funny. It's not necessarily a book that will increase your IQ, but I liked it enough to recommend it.
So. What's the best book you've read lately?

The last really good book I read was All over creation by Ruth Ozeki. It was a really captivating story about a mixed raced girl born into an unwelcoming setting, for her, of a rural middle american small potatoe farming town. The book also follows a couple other well integrated story arcs some mostly for comical relief but all very important to the developement of the story. I really enjoyed and i dont think i did it justice in this three sentence description.

I wish I had time to read a good book. I really do love reading. I believe that the last book I read was by Stephen King. I love his books and think that he is a great author. I try to read everything that he comes out with. Well except the last couple of years I have had my hands full with everything else I have not had the time to read anything longer than a magazine.

I love Jeffrey Deaver's books. Specifically his "Lincoln Rhymes" series. The first in the series is "The Bone Collector". It was made into a movie with Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie. Each book in the series can stand alone though, so you don't have to read them in order to make sense.
I also like James Patterson's books. My favorites are the Alex Cross books. A couple of those have been made into movies as well, "Kiss the Girls" and "Along Came a Spider".

I would say the best in quite a while was actually a series. the "Camaloud Chronicals" by Jack Whytte. It is basicly a series on the Authurian legends. However, he takes a lot of actualy roman history and weaves it in to the storty, so I guess one could consider it historical fiction. Great stuff, highly recomend it. I am stalled at book 5 right now, because I can't find book 6 at any used book stores, I have the other two waiting for me to read, but I don't want to read them untill i have read number 6.

I just got done a while ago with "My sister's Keeper". That was an awesome awesome book! I am currently reading Goldie Hawn's Autobiography which is very interesting. She is a really good, down to earth writer. I always have a good book going so it is good to hear what other's are reading. I keep a list of books that I'd like to read so that when I go to the library, I have somewhat of a clue.

I am currently reading an interesting novel called "Amazonia" To open, it discusses a man coming out of the Amazon forest. The man had been missing for 6 years. When he went into the jungle he only had one arm, when he comes out he has both arms. It keeps you on your toes, you want to find out how this happens, etc.
Sorry can't recall the author's name right now, but if you go to Amazon.com or one of the other sites it will pull it up. :)
Happy Reading!

The book that I'm currently reading is Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot'. I love reading horror books and Stephen King is my favourite author, his imagination is wild! I generally love reading fiction and don't enjoy reading reference that much. There's another good book that I read before 'Salem's Lot' and that is 'Once' by James Herbert. This is a very good book and I definitely would recommend it as a good read. It takes you into another world and allows you to experience pure escapism! It's about this chap who is involved in a car accident and he returns to his childhood home, a castle surrounded by woodland, anyway he experiences wonderful things that just cannot be explained! I'm not that interested in political novels or anything like that. It's great to read and it really does the mind the world of good! Andrew

Hi maezee, I just finished reading a superb novel - 'The palace of Illusions' written by an Indian writer Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, who wrote 'Mistress of Spices' which was made into a film. I find her style of writing very absorbing and witty.I read two books together at the same time. The other book that I read was Devil's Alternative' by Frederick Forsythe, which was also very very good - All the best, have a great day
