Do you own a lot of clothes?

A very unoriginal question, no doubt, but as I'm doing many many loads of laundry at home here, I have to wonder if having THIS many articles of clothes is NATURAL and NORMAL. With all of the clothes I have, I could probably make about 1,000 outfits. I have too many clothes, obviously, but I just can't seem to get rid of any. And it's not like I'm a pack rat - they all fit nicely and squarely into my dresser drawers with ease (but I DO have a huge dresser.) At what point do you go through your clothes, and give some away or pass them down to someone else? Do you do it often enough? Or do you ever find yourself asking the very same question I am: how on EARTH did I get THIS many clothes?

We tend to buy without throwing anything away. My mom used to buy one piece of clothing, but only if she had a wearable piece to donate to charity in its place. That way her closet never became overloaded and someone else received some very nice clothing to wear. Did I learn her valuable lesson? Not until this year. I thought it was necessary to have several evening gowns, business suits, slacks, blouses, hosiery of every shade and several pairs of shoes. On top of everything I inherited several white and brown mink stoles - which I never had occasion to wear. We lived in central Florida, a bit warm for fur. This year my husband became ill and requires 24/7 care. I've noticed I now wear the same slacks and pullovers every week, because they are comfortable and they look nice for him. The gowns, business suits, dresses, fancy blouses and slacks are all gone. I looked at them one day and laughed at how foolish I had been to think any of it was absolutely necessary. The fancy shoes have been replaced with sandals, tennis shoes and a warm pair of boots for the two feet of snow we are expecting since we've moved to Pennsylvania. As long as I'm dressed in a way that doesn't embarrass my family and have sufficient stretch to handle any situation my husband's health requires, nothing else is necessary. I wonder how we ever convince ourselves expensive clothing is an absolute must.

Lol. When I was in college, clothes were one of my priorities since we didn't have uniform in the university. I had to buy a lot of clothes every so often just so people wont notice I am wearing the same clothes but when i graduated, I shifted to the real priorities in life. i still have those clothes though but i rarely buy new clothes. i am home-based so i dont really need tons of new ones and i dont go out a lot. My sister and I share the same closet but we are accustomed to giving out old ones after buying new ones ever since. We sometimes share clothes but if there are clothes we both wont be wearing anymore, we would surely send them to the province for my grandmother to give away. During Christmas however, we give our old clothes to institutions, street beggars and we also give some to the garbage boys for them to use or recycle. It's been like that since forever and i dont mind giving away my pre-loved clothes knowing that they will surely be loved by new owners. :D

Since doing my clutter clearing I don't own all that many clothes. I have got rid of any clothing that no longer fits me or is old looking. I have bought some wooden coat hangers. I have hangers for tops plus hangers for skirts and trousers. I have color coded socks. I wish to get rid of more old looking clothing and replace them with a few new clothes. I have a wardrobe and a chest of drawers.

I don't have a lot of clothes actually. I used to have a lot of it but then I just stopped shopping. Why because I got fat. I didn't get really fat but 10kg more than I used to have and I was pretty skinny so I was used to the fact that everything looked good on my...I am tall and I was skinny..but now with my 10 extra kilos I really don't feel good, when I put nice clothes I see that it doesn't look good on me any more so I just hate to spend money on something that doesn't look good on me. I lost 2kg in last 3 weeks but that's still not enough. What made me come to my senses was actually the lack of clothes in my closet. I realised I had not more than 30 items all together so I really need to go shopping but I still hate to spend money on the clothes that I wouldn't look good in, so I am trying to loose a few kg. It is not easy at all but I am trying. I gave most of the clothes away when I couldn't fit in it any more but that made me end up with the clothes I have now.

uh, my clotes are flooding into my little bedroom. Underneath my bed, clothes are stacked full. In the closet, in another closet and other places. I bet I can sell them as a wholesaler actually. It's very releasing to give away dozens of clothes. still I buy clothes, around 10 pieces every two or three months.

Hi maezee! I'm a person who easily gets bored of my clothes. I just wear clothes for a few times and when I don't like wearing it, I just keep it on the dresser. Sometimes I send them to my cousins in the Philippines so they can wear them since these clothes are still like new. I'm the only girl among my siblings so I don't have someone to pass my clothes. I know its a waste buying many clothes but I surely use them just not use them again and again. Happy mylotting!

I also have a lot of clothes, but i can not keep all, i clear some of them which i think i can not wear it again. Then i can continue to buy new clothes and keep them in drawers. Otherwise i do not have enough space to keep them.

Hi Maezee,I buy clothes every other alternate week and i am crazy about those and i have an separate closet too and my parents often complain me about buying so many clothes and i have some favourites jeans and shirts may be lucky too so i would wear them on special occassions and more often my mom would pass on my old garments to the building watchmen in here coz i have gained some weight over the years so i no longer fit into those so atleast someone would use those rather than placing them in the closet.gud day.

Hi friend. I am a person who likes buying clothes every time I have extra money without noticing that I already have plenty of clothes in my closet. I am sometimes confused what kind of dress I am going to wear for a certain occasion because I have a lot of clothes to choose to. I even gave some of my unused shirts and pants to my cousins and nephews. They were really glad upon receiving it from me as a Christmas gift.

i think it's really normal for woman to buy tons of clothes, ive experience going with a girl out on a mall with a sale, she bought around 12 clothes in a matter of 3hrs and she still crave for more.. so having thousand of clothes is normal i think. i suggest you donate those clothes if you don't use or want those clothes anymore, more people will benefit from it rather than keeping it in your closet. :)

I really do not have that many clothes. In fact I need to go out and do some major shopping especially for work clothes. I've never been the type of person to really dress too nicely and now that I'm working more in the public eye I'm quite visible to many types of people on a daily basis and I need to look quite presentable. I need to get more pants and more shirts. A lot of my shirts are mostly for weekend wear or home wear at this rate.

Right now I do, but I really need to purge. I know for sure that about 1/4 of my closet is full of clothes that I will never wear again. I just have not had time to clean out my closet otherwise they would be gone. I really need the room my closet is crammed and my close are smashed all the time. I am hoping to have a little time after the holidays to clean it out.

In my eyes, I don't own enough clothes! And I have a lot of clothes. Some I have never even worn. I really wonder why I bought some of them. Like this hideous bright orange T-shirt that says "ms.complicated" on the front. It's terrible. Anyways I am a clothes horse I have to say. I love shopping! I get high from it. I don't have nearly enough hangers to fit them all. I also get so sick of my clothes so fast, I will wear something twice and then never wear it again. Which is good that I have girlfriends to swap clothes with, or else I would be BROKE. Have you ever heard of that store platos closet? It buys your gently used clothes, and you get cash for whatever, for me new clothes!!

I do not have nearly that many clothes. In fact, I'm in serious need of purchasing pretty much an entire wardrobe! I go through at least twice a year and get rid of anything that doesn't fit or that I just don't love.
