hi every one I've noticed these days our kids and even adults are crazy about playing video games shooooting , killing , stealing and all the bad staff that is unacceptable !!! and the thing is that we don't know what would happen to us or to our kids who play these games , actually most of those games have messages but in the way round that harm our kids means what behind every game is could be something dangerous !! so I guess they become more violent it would increase thought the likelihood of getting worse and worse, they could become more aggressive as well . so ,what do you think ????

Well how violent a game a child plays is up the the parent ultimately. Yes, there are a lot of violent games but its up to the parents to buy the correct rated ones. If you don't want your child playing violent video games then don't buy any with a mature rating. As for the shooting? Thats been around for years and doesn't phase me. Most of those games for kids that involve shooting is a pretty basic protagonist versus the antaganist. But I will say, yesterday I was at Walmart and I was paying for my stuff in the electronic section. And I am pretty sure the sample game was rated mature. Because there was a significant amount of blood when a character shot another. And there was an boy playing this game and he was definitely about 8 years old. The thing that really got me was his character would sneak behind the bad guys, I guess and snap their neck. I mean the sound was there and everything and so was the graphic and the mother was standing right there watching her son play this! So first of all I was upset with Walmart for having a violent game out for anyone to play and then flustered that the parent wasn't bothered by what her son was playing. He evenknew how to play so I'm assuming he had played this game before. But otherwise I don't have a problem with video games as long as they are used for the appropriate ages.

hi phoenix well , ya you are right as long its for the appropriate age then its ok !! you know when were kids we used to play games like Mickey mouse and Seamba the lion king jump here and there that was so pure and innocent coz day's games are even about stripers !! I guess we need to do campaign to stop that !! coz parents would pay more if they didn't look after their kids from now !! thanks

There are many kinds of videogames, not only violent ones. Puzzle type games help them to develop their minds making them to think how to solve the situation. I don't think videogames are the cause of kids getting aggresive, but parents are. Parents should take care of the education of their kids, also regarding to what they watch on tv, or to tell them to tell the difference between right and wrong.

i doubt a violent game woulde make many kids as violent as the games are.I would imagine a child who can't tell the difference between games and reality would have trouble anyway and the games won't make much difference

There are many kind of games nowadays, I know many children of my friends are good at playing games. Their parents often complain about it. But they do not have more useful ways to deal with it.

like movies video games also have ratings like 10,13,teen etc,as a parent u should check that the video game played is appropriate for the childs age.Video games can also help a lot when used properly, they develop motor skills, and consoles like Wii help children learn and play at the same time :D

They introduce kids to a lot of things they will possibly need to know in the future, not all games are violent, if you need to know

Today's video are far more complex and detailed than the games most of us grew up with. The hardware keeps getting more, and more sophisticated, and the games have followed suit. The real problem is parents not being responsible with the content they allow their chidren to see. Games of today are made for every genre imaginable, and geared towards all age groups. Just because I choose as an adult to play a game like BioShock, Doom, or Resident Evil for example, doesn't mean I would ever allow children in my household to play those games, or in most cases even be around when I'm playing them. Like films there is a reason they put a rating system on video games. If a game is rated mature than retailers are obligated not to sell them to children under 17. However If parents buy these games, and allow their children to play them it defeats the purpose. The gaming industry will only deliver what sells to consumers, so I wouldn't count on games getting any tamer. It's up to parents to do their jobs effectively and say no when they need to. Regardless of whether or not little johnny is happy about it.

well, I love video games and so do all the kids. Its a boom to the small kids who are deepen into studies and dont have anything on the Tv other than the boring old cartoons. I am with the kids and think that videogames are made for the kids but yes, I agree that the addiction to anything is bad and excess of video games is bad too.

proper parental control for kids to play video games is a good thing as long as they are not addicted to it and get sucked into playing video games every minute of the day. They can learn if some creative and educational video games are introduced. of course we must avoid those violent video games where they can learn to be like the characters in it.

There are video games which seem to focus more on blood and violence. And some of them are based on stealing and other vices. Most of these video games have an age rating. So that parents can know if a particular game is suitable for their child.

video games on kids have great impact to them since they are addicted on playing with it. Some of the school kids, never went to school or skip classes just to play around with their playmates on video games. Some video games are warshock which is not a good influence to kids, they may become brutal too in some other ways.

I will speak from personal experience and tell you that I used to love to play video games when I was younger. In fact this continued all the way up until college. I was never so addicted, though, as the kids are today. My brother can play video games for 8 sometimes 12 hours straight. That has got to be bad for the eyes. The content nowadays is much more violent, as well. I on the other hand was crazy about sports games, so I never got into the violent games. I was also playing sports throughout college so I balanced my recreation time. That is another problem in that kids who are glued to video games don't get much exercise. It also seems to affect their social behavior, as well.

Surely the impact is bad.................. but actually the fact is that the parents in most of the cases buy the kids these games.......... and so by this way they encourage the kids............. And another thing......... most of the FPS games are for kids over 13yrs............... but you tell me how many parents really follow these rules??????????????? Before trying to stop the kids the parents should change themselves...........

playing video games and shooting and killing and stuff like that is better than doing it for real. And if not that, what else are video games going to be based on, it would bore people senseless. Also video games help develop good hand eye coordination :) Obviously if you're spending every waking hour playing video games it is not good for you though

not all of the games are like you mentions before...there are also an educative games like puzzle, sports games, speed car or anything else..but you're true that the most playing games are games contains shooting, killing, stealing or a hard habit... So, we have to filter/select the games which not played by kids...

I think that there are certain types of games that will have an obvious effect on kids as they are so impressionable at an early age. However, I think it's the responsibility of adults to take charge and make sure that their children and not playing games that have a specific age rating. This is only one side of the coin though! On a positive note, some games can be very beneficial and encourage learning as well as getting the mind to think. Strategy games where you have to figure something out in order to move forward and progress, these types of games can improve intelligence I think. Moving on to the adults that play games, I'm certainly one of them!. The games that you speak of that contain lots of violence and are quite graphic in places, I love to play them! Everyone has their choice and I think it's safe to say that whatever is experienced in the game is not likely to be portrayed in the streets! There have been cases in the past but it's generally safe. I like to play these games when I am angry or feeling rebelious, I can then do what I want in the game and it's a great form of escapism. Kids must be monitored though and should not be given games that have an 18 rating! Andrew

I agree with you. Not only video games, but also films that smells violence, crime, these items are not only a bad influence for children, but also adults. For video games, I like to play on the computer, because I don't have PSP, playstation, etc., because the price is quite expensive. And fortunately, my kid were little, so he still did not know anything. If he's an adult, I'll keep him for those games that smelled of violence, and later, as best I could give him lots of physical activity, so he did not get to play in front of the computer, because there was a time. I usually watch movies on TV with my wife after my son slept. I have read the news, a teenager committed violence against his friend, after he watched the movie The Punisher. There again, a Chinese child, taking oil for almost 2 years without the consent of their parents just because he wanted as Bumblebee in Transformers. As a result, his brain suffered memory loss, and his body was emaciated, as well as kidney and gastrointestinal problems. Crazy, huh?

I am with you on this one. The video games now a days are so terrible, and there considered normal! This one game my friend's little brother was playing, he's about 8, he was playing this game where you have to kill Nazi zombies, what kind of game is that for an 8 year old kid? It doesn't surprise me one bit how every generation is getting more and more tolerant of violence, because they grow up with these games, and they think it's normal! They might as well see their Dad beating their mom, that's the message these games are sending. That violence is okay. They are so unrealistic too, you get a piece of your body chopped off and you just keep going, that really teaches safety. Magazines have passed the law to not be able to photo shop their pictures as it sends outs a negative body image to girls, how are these games any different?

A game I just can't resist is Assassins Creed! Look at the title - Assassin! The game is very popular title and even children like it! To assassinate is a big crime in real world, even threating one's life is cruel, but then why did the game become a big hit? Well, first the game's extraordinary user interface and graphics art design, but the main thing is the concept! No one likes a corrupt politician or a celebrity who is a different person in the underground..so then we can't do anything in real life and that's why people are crazy playing Assassins Creed, assassinating people!
