While typing on keyboard, I skip letters and come back. It is boring.

I type very fast. I have done higher typing and also studied typing in college as one of the subjects. Hence my speed is really good. Of late I always skip one one letter in between and everytime I have to come back to add that letter. This is literally a time waste affair. My husband says the keyboard is not taking feather touch any more and we have to change it. Is it true or is it a problem of my not pressing the key properly in a haste? Should I change the keyboard? If so what keyboard do you suggest? Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm also a touch typist and I type very fast. In order to type effectively especially if you have the proper skills well, it takes constant practice but I suppose we are getting this when we type regularly on My Lot. However, this may be related to the keyboard. Underneath the keys there are two types of contact, metal and foil. The foil tends to be the softer of the two and thereby makes it easier in terms of the keys being very flexible! I think new keyboards can definitely support your typing ability and you should be able to type lightening fast! I'm pretty pleased with my current keyboard, it's fairly new and I don't make any errors in terms of missing letters and things like that. Good luck anyhow! Andrew

That is a nice information. I didn't know that! I thought it had something to do with my carelessness, and possibly frozen fingers. :) I admit I lost touch with typing for quite a while. Therefore, I tended to eat words and letters. :) Well, that is something for Santa to provide. :) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, just in case we dont come across each other before that. :)

That is so nice of you to give such useful information Sir. I never knew that. All these four years, I never faced this sort of problem. May be on constant usage, the keyboard has become obsolete and the feather touch has gone. I will buy a new one. Thanks for the information given.

the same happens to me. that's why i dont look at my spellings during my typing. when i finish typing, then i look at the monitor and correct all spelling mistakes. i use mozilla firefox which highlights all my spelling mistakes so its easy to correct them.

Hi, What does "feather touch" mean? I think a keyboard also has limited life. For example, it can endure a fixed number of hit, or a fixed pressure hit. So you really hit so fast, of course the keyboard will be broken in a short time. I recommend Logic Keyboard and I use it for about 5 years.

Feather touch means you do not have to touch the key with pressure. If you just touch the key lightly also, the key will type. Much pressure is not required for typing it. I have been using this keyboard since four years. When I buy a new one, I will ask for Logic Keyboard. Thanks for the information.

Hi buchi bulla, I do the same thing as also type fast and blame it on the keyboard as some of the keys seem to stick, plus the C key fell off which means extra prssure. I wouldn't be able to replace the keyboard as its part of the laptop and I tried plugging the Greek /English one into it but it wouldn't fit.

Oh God! You cannot fix another key board in the laptop is it? For a small keyboard problem, how can we change the whole laptop then?

Even the same thing happens to me too. I too have passed senior typewriting and also have worked as a secretary to the Sales Manager in a reputed firm before my marriage and can even now type 120 wpm very easily. Of course me also facing the same problem. May be this is due to the rubber below the keyboard keys might have worned out by using repeatedly or we might not be pressing the keys properly.

May be it is true Vathsala30. Due to constant usage, the rubber below the keyboard keys of some of the letters must have been worn out.

if the keyboard is very old i suggest changing it. but the problem may lie wit your typing speed too. in a hurry your brain works slower than your hands and you miss out letters in words. you feel like you have typed those letters but actually you haven't

I agree with you cookiebaker. My typing speed is fast and thinking speed is still faster. May be this also contributes to the problem.

I too feel very angry when I miss letters and have to come back by the mouse and stop the continuing of my response which deals with more time in one discussion.

For typing each comment, do you know how many times I am coming back and typing the missed letters? Will it not be boring coolcat123? I think I have to immediately change the keyboard.

I'm not typing fast because my keyboard sometimes strange and press one button out of three key. We can not rely solely on the ability to type, but the keyboard must also be true. I think the keyboard adjusted to the size of our fingers that we feel comfortable when using it.

Hi Aunty. Earlier even i use to skip the letters at office at timing and always i use to come back and it was getting bored so after complaining on the problem we got changed to the new keyboard. The problem was tying fast makes the keys harder so it happens like that. For this issue it was changed to a new one at office, Have a great day.

I know exactly where yur coming from! I type really really fast. Especially when im excited or really have something to say. I skip letters and type so fast i miss a letter and it ends up behind another letter. Its so annoying. I don't think mine is because of a type board i think i should just slow down sometimes. If i'm on here or emailing someone I'll reread everything and fix my mistakes but if im texting or iming people then i just send it anyways... its liek a joke between my friends sometimes they cant even tell what im trying to say! lol p.s- there was 15 mistakes in this small post!

Oh God! 15 mistakes and 15 rectifications. Do'nt you think waste of time? In my case though I am fast at typing, I was typing in this speed since four years. No problem so far. Only now this keyboard started giving problem. In your case, go slow, may be you can avoid this problem.

It may be your keyboard or you are really typing too fast. It depends on how long you have had your keyboard. Keyboards don't cost much to buy. That's good you are very good typist. It gets alot of work done faster if one can type fast. I usually take my time. Have a great day.

i also type really fast, about 60wpm or more. i guess this came from playing a lot of online games, where messages are needed to be sent asap. my keyboard keys are already a bit hard so sometimes i make an error or two while typing but it doesnt bother me much since i got used to it. i already memorized the keys where i should press harder and stuff. i also learned how to type without looking at the keyboard itself so i know whenever im already having typographical errors. well its nice to have a new keyboard but i think getting used to the keyboard is easier. and cheaper.

i think the problem has something to do with the keyboard buchi_bulla. knowing that you studied proper typing subjects, im sure you know very well the how tos on striking the keys. (fingers should be moving a little inside the palm and not totally downwards)but structures of keyboards nowadays tend to misuse it the proper way which lead to its immediate breakage. i myself has a very high typing speed and experienced such a hastle so many times. happy mylotting.

I have been typing in this keyboard since four or five years. Till now it was good. Just recently this problem started. Either dust accumulated or keyboard became obsolete. Tomorrow I will clean the keyboard and see. Again how to clean the keyboard is also a problem. Anyway thanks for the post drakesuyat. Happy Christmas.

that's very easy to check whether that's problem of the keyboard or just your typing error. you can typing on another keyboard and if the error still happen so i'm afraid that's the problem of your own typing . by the way i'm also can type very fast and i often missed some letters and typing some letters wrong also.

I do not have another key board to type and check. I have been typing in this keyboard only since four or five years and I never faced this problem before. I will buy a new one. Thanks celebratelifeh for the post.

Hi buchi, even I have passed out in typing higher. It may be both that your keyboard is not accepting feather touch or that in your hurry to type out the words you miss. After all the key board and the typewriter do have their own functions although they are the same and I also skip words often.

I'd think it is stiffness with our fingers because this is winter season. :) May be keyboard wires also have something to do with it. I have the habit of swallowing words. My thoughts obviously run faster than my typing. Initially I used to feel terrible about it, and I used to have an errata kind of box there. But it is does not really feel ok. Because if I have something more to add I need a third box. LOL.

My fingers go on the keys but the letter does not appear on the screen. Again I have to go to the key and press it. Then it will appear. I feel the keyboard has last it's feather touch capacity. I will change it. Thanks Vandana. Your angel avatar is cute.

If this problem was not there before and you have not changed your typing style then it has surely got to do something with your keyboard. Chuck it out and get a new one is my suggestion. It does not cost much but you will have to adjust with this new keyboard as you have got into the habit of typing on a sick keyboard!!
