Do you use the preview option when responding or commenting?

There is always the preview option when we start, respond or comment in a discussion. But do you really use it? I hardly ever use it. While responding to messages, we do not have any other alternative but to preview our message, but in case of a discussion it is not mandatory. I do not use it because I feel it is a waste of time. Does any of you use it?

I have to admit that I dont use it often enough. That's because I try to proofread my post before I even think of submitting it. That way I dont have to hit the preview and go back just to edit. Though I use it when I feel like Im forgetting to say something. So I hit the preview response button, read it again, and if everything seems fine then I submit. If I remember what it was I seem to be missing then I edit. Then submit it. I dont hit the preview button again. The preview page can be a great help when you're posting links to a news article or a video. Sometimes the link just get broken especially when they're too long and you dont shorten links. It can be a hassle, so previewing it first just to see if the link works saves much effort of reposting the link and for the readers/responders/commenters to find other links that work. Its just a suggestion.

I agree bj, the preview option is a great help while posting links. I have found that when we write something after posting a link, mylot usually takes that word into the hyperlink. The preview option does help us to edit such a situation. Thank you for the response.

myLot does put it into hyperlink but there are also times wherein the hyperlinks are disabled. Im not sure if there are only select link formats for this or its the way that members post them. You're welcome.^_^

I also do not understand how this happens, because I have not found any option to enable and disable hyperlinks. Do you know about them?

I've used it in the past, but haven't used it recently. I always take the time to re-read my responses and correct any errors. Still no matter how many times I check myself, what I write always looks good...until I post it. What I'd like to know is why are so many errors visible only AFTER you post?

Well, obviously it's not US making those errors. It's computer gremlins. If we could just convince them all to move over to another site, like Facebook or something, then there would hardly ever be errors here...

Seriously, I find myself making so many grammatical errors while posting. But when I read it before posting, I do not find any mistakes what so ever. It is so irritating.

Hi, Sagnik! Sometimes I do use the 'preview' button because when I type long enough and I need to re-read what I have typed, the page will remain idle. Therefore, when I press the 'post' button it will suddenly jump to the 'sign in' page because of this. It can either be a waste of time or actually save a little of my time. So, I sometimes use the 'preview' button and read from there before I choose whether there is something to edit or post ahead.

I do not know about that. For some reason I never log out of mylot. Firefox saves the password and remembers it. If I come to this site even after a week or a month, I can still see my homepage instantly. It is great. You should try it.

I actually never use the preview option. I know that when the comment that I make is published, it is going to look slightly different than it does when I am actually typing my comment, but when I am using the preview option, I am not able to correct the spelling errors that I might have. So, particullarly I leave it on the add a new comment window because I am able to correct the spelling errors that I am able to see. I think that preview windows are especially good for posts when you are adding pictures and such, but I don't think it is something that you need to use all of the time.

I hardly use them. But, yes. Previewing your post when there is a picture attached to it is a good option. Due to all these bugs in mylot, it is very necessary.

...Hi sagnik, I think that it is a good feature to have for the obvious reasons, but I do not use it that much. I really think thst I forget it is there. I pay attention when I am sending a message to a friend, but otherwise for some reason I don't. It is useful for corrections and changing a thought or adding one if you need to. But for me, I don't use it normally. Take it easy.

Welcome back goodday and it is really a good day. I think you know what I mean. Anyway, have a great time. Looks do matter but I really do not think the others really care about looks that much. Members care about quality and that is what you should be concerned about. Best of luck, mate.

Keeping a backup always helps. I have also started keeping backups. Sometimes the net disconnects and I used to lose my post. But now I always keep a backup of what I have written and never lose a single thing. Thank you for your response, May.

I never noticed that option! Can you believe it? Thanks for bringing it to my notice. :) I wish they had it the other way. I mean the post response knob towards the left, and preview response knob towards right. But when we send mail through PM we get edit option, so I always wondered why dont we get that here. Now I know. :)

That is right, icecubic, that is a nice reason to use it. I do not preview anything ever. But I sometimes use it just for the fun of it. Do you use it just for responses? I mean when you are not starting discussions, do you use the preview option?

At first when I was new to myLot I used to use the PREVIEW option before posting response but as time went past I directly post the responses. I too feel that it is the wastage of time but one good benefit is if there are some spelling mistakes, tense, grammar or some other mistakes one can rectify it before posting because there are no other way to rectify once it is posted.
