I saw in the news how one family lost everything they were shopping for Christmas. After shopping they put all the stuff in the back seat of their truck. They parked their truck in a very busy marketing complex. When they get back to the truck it was gift rap and broken glasses from the truck window lying in the snow near their truck, and everything inside the truck was gone.It was was worth almost $2500.00. Thats lot of money to lose like that. Also it is not all about money. They put lot of effort and love while doing the shopping for the loved one. They lady was so upset about a item she found for her daughter. I think people should be careful, please don't put any items in your car where everyone can see it. I hope this never happen to anybody else. Are you careful about your belongings?

There is no way that I would have left that expensive of stuff in a vehicle without it being out of sight, if I would leave it at all. That is alot of money to be spending and just asking for trouble. It is a shame that you cannot trust people, but you have to use common sense and be safe.

I agree, it is so sad that we can't trust people and we are not really safe out there. We have to be careful to be safe.

Aw that is sad. I worry about stuff like that happening especially around this time of year. I think people are getting desperate because of the economy. They feel bad when they can't provide for their family so they steal. I wonder if they would replace her items since she would have the receipts right there.

No, they would not replace the stuff, as they were done with shopping and left the store. I think to get replaced something like that you have to have insurance.

Wow, that's really bad. I think such people( I mean the burglar) must be punished very harsh so they can learn not to make such a things any more. To steal from somebody on Christmas it is not only a misdeed, it is also a sin

But it is hard to catch them, once they get caught they will get punished for sure.

In this day & age, we do need to be careful. It seems that crimes like these go up during a recession, along with muggings, robberies, & things like that. I know someone who had their car broken into, & their GPS system was missing. If the place is busy, it would take a lot of courage, because it also means more of a chance at getting caught. However, things should be done to safeguard your vehicle & belongings. In my vehicle, I have plenty of "garbage" - paper coffee cups, ragged papers, plastic bags that has obviously been in the vehicle for a good while, stuff like that. I usually bury my "goods" underneath all the junk. When looking into the vehicle, people probably see a huge mess, not realizing what's hidden underneath.

There are people stealing Christmas all over the place it seems, and it's so sad. Even if they can't afford to provide a Christmas for their family, there are still places they can turn to for food and toys, so it's not necessary to steal what someone else has. How about the marine that had just returned from Iraq who had all his gifts stolen from his truck? Or the church that had worked so hard accumulating toys only to have everything stolen? The true spirit of Christmas?

Is really sad that some people are looking for an opportunity to steal items from people during the Christmas shopping season. This is why I'm very alert while shopping during Christmas.

One of my friend kept his camera in the car, The light was on unknowingly, but the car was locked and went to rest in a place. After returning we realized that somebody stole the Camera! and Car is still locked. We wonder how come somebody else can take a camera from a locked car!

Hiya sweetlady, Indeed that is a terrible thing to have happen to them poor things. This can happen to anyone even if they are very careful. But you have to be careful anyway with everything even your everyday Shopping can go for a walk when you least expect it. I once left my Shopping well half of it downstairs and I had to go up walking to the second floor. There was no one around but when I went down to pick up the second half it had gone. In that time no one had had time to steal it really as I left it well hidden in the shadows. It was a matter of seconds. However a couple from upstairs saw me go down and look everywhere for my other Shopping and about five minutes later the couple came down and put my Shopping back in it´s place. They did offer me no apology or anything they just dumped it there. They were just trying to see if they could rob it without anyone noticing it but I did. Anyway I was so relieved to get my Shopping back whichever way. As I was going through a very bad financial time. I was in tears I can tell you half of a whole weekend´s shopping. Might seem like nothing to anyone else but to me it was all I had. Yes now I am even more careful with my things and shopping like that. I don´t give anyone a chance to "lift" my shopping if I can help it. I know how that Family must have felt. Hope they are okay now and it won´t ever happen to them again.

Its so sad to hear things like this. This sorta thing happens every year. In our area it seems to me you hear of at least one incident of gifts stolen out of a car at mall every Christmas. We had a similar situation about 10 years ago where someone proke in our home and stole all the presents out from under the Christmas tree. It wasnt anything worth what your talking about 2,500 but it was about $600 which was all the money we had to shop with that year. Yes i think the emotional part of it by far is more damaging than the price of the presents.

Unfortunately, you see a lot of this happening this time of the year. I know this happened to a friend of my dad's. The nice thing was that everyone at my dad's work had gone out and bought gift cards so their co-worker could go out and re buy everything. I think it was nice to see that everyone was willing to help out. This shows the true meaning of Christmas.

Agreed. I think you should all be careful but even when were are - the crappy people in the world come and make our lives miserable. So, here is to all the crappy people in the world go pick on yourself and leave the rest of us alone, what did those people do to you to desire their christmas being a crappy one. No, some less than nice people just wanted to share their misery at someone elses expense. I didn't here about this on the news but I am sure that this happened to more than one group of people over the holiday. So, I'm here to say this makes me mad, really mad! Golden Rule - Do on to others as they would do unto you! and you know what I wouldn't do crappy things even to my enemies. Geez, I hope they catch the people that ruined this couples christmas and to others out there that had their christmas stolen from them.

This is a terrible story and I feel so bad for this family. I'm very careful with my packaging when I'm shopping. Usually I go to one store come out put everything in the trunk and its home I go. If I have to go to another store I don't ever have anything in the front to make someone try to break in to the car to steal it. Everything goes into the trunk of the car.

That is a terrible thing and a sad thing that happened to them! How can some people so terrible to stoop that low? I will never understand what makes people like that! I feel sorry for the people that happened to! If I were rich I would give them money just to make my day and theirs! But I am not rich so all I can do for them is pray for them! O.N.G. I think I am going to cry!

I try to be careful with my belongings. If I am going to be in someplace for a long time I will put the things I brought in the truck of my car. I figure if they can not see it I will be safer not to say they could not decide to open the truck some how and take the things.

That was so sad. If I were in their shoes, I would have cried so hard. $2500 is a lot of money. It is so sad that the effort of getting to the mall which is crowded with last minute shoppers, choosing gifts for loved ones all ended up to nothing.

That was horrible! However, the world is full of mean people, so it's common sense not to put all your gifts where they're clearly visible. That doesn't make what happend to them less bad, but I never recommend anyone to leave expensive looking things on your car in a visible way because that's very prone to be stolen.
