Hi, everybody, It is a question about relationship between people, especially strangers. When you walk in street or in a supermarket, or when you wait in or outside elevators, do you feel like saying hello to strangers you come across.

Hi alexfeile318! Saying hello is a good form of greeting. I think it would depend on the tradition or culture of a country. In my country, we bow, it is a form of politeness and courtesy. We find it awkward to greet people we dont know by saying "hello," instead we just slighly bow. But not too often, not on the streets, just on the offices, or elevators. Happy mylotting!

Not really I tend to ignore most strangers when I'm walking on the street. But if someone were to say high to me on the street I would say hi back to them since It's rude not to say hi back to someone who said hi to you first. But I usally dont say hi to people walking on the street.

When I was a kid, it was very common to say "hello" to people you encountered. Over time, it's become less and less. People are so afraid of strangers and nobody wants to talk to strangers, even if it it IS just to say "hello". Sad that society has gotten to that point, but it is what it is. Personally, if I'm walking along and I happen to make eye contact with someone, I'll always say something. Could be "good morning" or "how ya doin'". It depends on the setting and the mood that I'm in. lol. We have to make eye contact though or I generally don't say anything.

I almost always say hullo..or at leat smile and awknowledge the existance of the other person if i am say, walking down the sidewalk and meet someone going the other way. If i am in a store, i usually reserve it for people with whom i make some sort of contact...eye contact when rounding a corner etc. If i were to stop and say hullo to everyone in a busy market place it would make my shopping trip last hours!! But i do think that saying hullo to someone is important....i hate it when i walk by someone, REALLY close by someone, and they don't even act like i exisit, and i don't want to make others feel that way too. I know you are there, and i am a polite person, so i say hello...or at least smile and nod.

I don't really say anything at all; I simply nod my head, if that! It's not that I'm a mean person, I just don't want to give any creep ideas! That would be a little much, really! If they seem nice, and we're in line together, then I might start a conversation. Might!

Ever heard of the universal language of saying hello? I don't say hello but I do smile when I meet some strangers. Thats what I learned when I was back in Asia. Today I still smile when I meet strangers here in the United States.

I will never say hello to a stranger. If a stranger say hello to me i will feel upset and wonder why he/she does that. So i don't want to upset others ans never speak to a stranger. Have a nice day.
