I just started a blog. What can i do to make it more visible? Where can i learn how to submit it to the search engines? In general, where are places i can go to let people know about my blog and get some traffic?

When your blog is new, you have to put in extra effort.
Try to update daily, at least 400 words. I generally aim for 800 to 1,200 words, with keyword density of 3% to 7%.
For example, when I write about "Christmas shopping", it must occur at least 30 to 70 times in a 1,000 words post.
After publishing the blog post, ping the article, use pingler and autopinger to ping each and every post.
Join forums, such as Digitalpoints and other forums, so that you can put the url of your blog in the signature. Most of us network through this method, and add comments on each other's blog post.
