What do you think about the gesture Gautam Gambhir showed after the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka? He was adjudged man of the Match but he wanted Young Virat Kohli to have it as it wasthe maiden century for the young right handed batsmen in the seniors competition. Virat Kohli was the captain of the under 19 team that won the world cup. I think Gautam Gambhir has shown a lot of mATURITY AND FORESIGHT WITH HIS ACTION NOT ONLY ON THE FIELD BUT ALSO OFF THE FIELD. A young talent like Viraat will get and addistional boost when a senior player like Gambhir who is in his prime form says that Viraat should be the Man of the Match. And considering that Viraat is not a regular in the playing eleven this would mean a lot to him. What is your opinion?

Hi Poona_m, though the gesture appealed to me, it can be interpreted as smugness because it is not for him to judge. There is a jury that decides on some factors. They might find it difficult to digest that something is being done against their judgment. What Gauti could have done is told everybody that his hopes were kept alive by Kohli and what actually transpired between the two there on the field is something that the jury could hardly know. Since it was Kohli's enthusiasm, and confidence rubbing on him, rather than his own, from his angle it was Kohli who deserved it. And after expressing something like that, had he given it, the applause would be more resounding. But I guess, so much of thinking in such a short time is not possible. I only hope he has not stepped on toes of any juror's ego.

This is a very nice gesture coming up from a batsman who is in his prime form and leaving all his greed and competition behind him, he called for Virat Kohli to be adjudged as the Man of the Match award winner which displayed his maturity as a player who is a team man and doesn't let go any talent unnoticed by. Gautam gambhir is surely being the role model for younger players since he has been consistently performing for Team India at all the levels and whenever and wherever needed!!

Gautam showed a very nice gesture! Actually, Virat played good too but Gautam stayed till the end and won the match so the award was given to him. But Gautam was graceful enough to accept Virat's part in the victory and so he thought of giving it as a gift to Virat for scoring first century in ODI. I think, this kind of relationship wills strengthen Team India a lot. It will encourage young players and also help in developing a bond between seniors and upcoming players. Gautam is one player who never looks like under pressure. His calm demeanor is a big asset and once he settles down he can win the match for India. He plays more consistent cricket. Happy Mylotting!

Hi, You was correct my friend. Gauti and virat played their part in fourth ODI. Maybe there will be a confusion for man of the match award. Virat played his part like an dravid and he should be appreciated for his young talent. Gambhir really a match winning batsman not only in this match and also in many matches, he had done his part very nicely. Those kind of senior player will encourage all the new players, so that they will have enthuthiasm in playing.
