a special gift

We received a very special gift from my sister in law. It showed a good deal of thought on her part but on top of that allowed us to preform an act of kindness. We have Llamas and they are not a common object of art objects. My Sis found some hand painted gift cards and a Christmas decoration from Peru both which showed Llamas and very well done. The act of kindness was the fact that the artist's label with her phone number was on the cards. Hubby called her first thing this morning to thank her for her art work and the woman was so touched she cried. She sells a lot of cards but rarely does anyone thank her like he did. So that is why this gift is so special.

Hi pat~ That sounds like such a wonderfully thoughful gift. I don't think that I blame the artist for crying! I'm quite sure that she never gets personal phone calls that often and I think that was so sweet of your Hubby to call her! Almost as sweet and thoughtful as it was of your Sister to give you the beautiful cards to begin with! You know I also think that your Llamas are very special for some reason and I think that is so wonderful to have those special cards! I don't know why I am also so drawn to the Llamas as I have told you, but I find them one of the most beautiful and fascinating animals! Hugs, Opal/Leslie

We have found Llamas special animal people, they are very smart for herd animals, and if treated well become very nice pets. We keep ours where we can see the herds from the front windows so that we can see and enjoy the interaction within the herds. We have two herds because male and females are kept separate. Thanks your for your response.

It was such a simple thing to do and started his day, her day and my day in such a good way. I guess when he said being kind was very important it wasn't just words. If I were a monkey I'd be swinging on the tree. Yepee!!

This is a very good illustration of how attitudes spread. Whether positive or negative, there is a great deal of power in what we say and do.

What a wonderful thing for your husband to do! So many people put their heart and spirit into their work and very few are thanked for their efforts. I'm sure his words meant a lot more than the money she made on the items. What a thoughtful man you have!

Hi, savypat. That is very sweet to hear! I can tell that she is very talented. And her work goes unnoticed. But not for long. There was someone that God had in mind to make her smile. And it was you all. To see her almost in tears is enough to know that she was very touched by your husband's kindest words. See, this is what Christmas should be about. Making someone smile and feel good inside their hearts. Happy Holidays!

If we enjoy the fruits of their works we should all encourage and thank our artists. Thanks

Aren't those small little things such a big gift in our lives. I am glad that your day was brightened and that in turn you brightened someone else's day. Those good feelings just multiply all the way around.

I think I have found my goal for 2010, I plan to notice and with purpose spread goodwill as far as I can all year. So now I know I have Hubby to help keep me on tract. I tend to be shy and need a little shove once in a while. Thanks for your response.

I agree that your phone call was probably a special gift to this person. People who do this type of work are seldom (if ever) recognized for the work they do, and it was probably really nice for someone to actually tell her how much they liked or appreciated her art work...

That was a great gift. I would be very touched if someone took the time to appreciate my artisitic side that way. I think that art is often very personal and when someone apreciates it as being personal it can make us feel like it was actually as important to them as to the artist that done it.
