Do you change anything in the recipe from the box?

My mother make cake from the box. She also changes one of the ingredients. The cakes are great when she is done. All the people in the neighbor hood want her to bake them cake. I don't make cake often in my house. I would be the one to eat it all. I do know how to make it better now. How about you.. Happy new Year.

When I use a mix I pretty much stick to the directions although I notice that if I use just a pinch more oil my cakes are really moist, just a tiny smidgen more than on the directions. Otherwise I pretty much stick to the directions, although I am sure if someone likes nuts they could easily add the to the batter. But I don't mess with the box directions very much.

When I use boxed cake mix, I don't usually add exactly what the directions say. Sometimes I'll add a little less oil or cut out half the egg yolk to reduce fat, and the cake turns out fine. Or, if you want to make it fat-free you can replace the oil with applesauce- it works like a charm and the cake comes out super moist.
