Admin for a Day: Profiles!

I would like it if I could see not just how many comments I posted,but how many discussions I've started. Maybe my average discussion rating per day.

I am perfectly happy with my myLot profile What I would like is that somehow those money-making Lotters (the ones that want to promote the sites that they use) would realise that they can use their profile in the same way they would use a blog made on another platform. They can add all their banners and THEN promote their link to their profile killing many birds with one stone. They would gain referrals both to myLot AND to the sites that they are promoting on it. I do exactly that and I know that it works. I feel that myLot should give more emphasis to this somewhere and that maybe once users realise this then they might stop promoting in the discussion area and start promoting to a larger audience passively while participating in the discussions here. I hope that makes sense and if anyone needs further explanations I am willing to offer guidance

The only thing I've seen about profiles is when you go to someone, they may say "no act ivies" when you KNOW they have been active (i.e. they have responded to a discussion of your own...)

status message capabilities would be nice, so that people will not only know we're on mylot, but we'll be able to tell our mood, or say how long we'll be online, or say where we'll be concentrating on the site.

In the profile area I would like to see all of my total number of discussions that I have created at myLot. If I could see that, I can tell how many I have created.

As I've said, I'm extremely non-techie, but I think it's too hard to change things in the profile. I couldn't figure out what I was doing incorrectly when I attempted, e.g., to change the colors on my page. The colors went places I didn't expect, or just refused to change at all. Perhaps MyLot could post tutorials--little interactive videos, perhaps? Something--to help us fumble-fingered types? A sort of "Refiguring Your Profile for Dummies?" Thanks, Alice! Maggiepie

Here are some good things I would like to see done with the profile, if possible. Thank you! -- The ability to add/remove pictures and video on the profile page. -- The ability to see how many discussions & replies were made by the user. -- The ability to use an app such as with iPhone or instant messenger (Yahoo, MSN, Trillian) to see what's going on with my profile.

That would be fine. As I told you earlier I am novice on computers.I dont care about my profile, others profile all I am now is open things that I would like to discuss with and discuss things with them. If I dont like the topic I just ignore. By the way are you related to crash seems we havent heard from him.

alice I hate to sound like a computer dummy but I cannot for the life of me change that dopeylittle man for a better avatar. I hit preferences but still cannot get any choice I make to take? I am sure the others have had no trouble but I would love to know how to do this so I can do it for myself without asking my poor son to do it for me. I have been here for some two years and people ask me how come I still have the new user avatar, I tell them I did not know how to change it,but nobody offered to show me how.

I also wondering why the participation of the member was not accurate when i visited their profile . It was only displayed that they were not active for 60 days but in some way i received a messages came from my friend in mylot. Can you make a change for the activation of our days?

Alice- I always find it interesting how when anything is posted by an administrator here on Mylot there are always "Don't talk about these issues". What is the point of posting when you know full well those are the issues with Mylot? I don't like the fact that I cannot alter the html coding in my own profile without a hassle. I would like it to be more user friendly, in short. Anora

I like the fact that you can put custom colors on the profiles, but I wish there were some way to be able to put a layout like you'd find on MySpace or other social sites. I'm not sure that it's feasible at this time, but one can wish, right?

ill take number 5, i think adult contents are actually not blocked because if it is being blocked by the site, viewers should not be able to view the content..

I use a screen reader, and a lot of the profile features are not accessible, or are difficult to use. The primary one I am talking about, however, is the sorties. It is a little difficult to add, remove, and edit the sorties with a screen reader. One suggestion I have on this, and you can take it or leave it, is to have a different way to edit them. For those users who can use it as is, with the whole drag and drop and all that stuff, leave that implemented, as I am sure many users like it. However, for screen reader users something that could be done to make it easier is possibly to have checkboxes for what sorties you want, and you check them and then have a combo box next to that where if you select a sortie, you can select where it is on the page. For example, top left, top right, top center, center left, center, center right, bottom left, bottom right, bottom center, or possibly have above friends, below friends, yadda yadda. Maybe make a combination of these two. So, if you want the discussions you started sortie to appear in the top cneter of your profile, you can select that. If you want friends to be below interests, you can select that too. This would make it so that those of us who use screen readers, or even users that have poor eye sight in general, or for that matter people who don't like the drag and drop, to have another way of editing their profile. It would also allow everyone, including the blind to have an idea where their things are. This way, they can set up their profile in a way that might be appealing to their sighted peers as well. It doesn't have to be done exactly this way, but something similar would be preferable, and make the site more usable for everyone. I hope you'll have one of these discussions on interests, cuz I have one for that too, but MUCH simpler!

If possible, I'd like an option whereby the profile can be made private and only friends can view. Sometimes we may not want outsiders not to see our detailed activities. If not, some sorties can be locked like discussions I've replied or something or started..that sort of thing.

You can add a "My Videos" section perhaps...

I would like to see people's profiles deleted who haven't been on for months and their membership canceled! I know of one person who has been on Mylot since the begining and has only responsed to 35 discussions! Those people show they are to busy or aren't true Mylotters! Most of my friend list has ened it up that way and I don't like it! I have deleted so many people who have not been on for monthds,nonths,months and months get deleted! I want to have friends who around! Not here on day and gone the next!

I would love to see the 'total' number of the discussions I started like some of the users mentioned. It would be nice if I could see a 'summary' of my activities like how many responses I have posted in discussions by other members and how many responses I have made in the discussions that I have started. I also would love to be able to see which discussions I have created or responded to that got deleted. I am not sure whether they can be done or not, but I hope the admin will look into these suggestions. Thanks in advance, Alice!

Hi Alice. I sent a message thought it went to ADMIN. but it was never answered, 3-4 months ago. Any I wanted to change my password, something I do atleast twice I do with all my accounts, but when I tried and went into accounts I checked change password entered the old one, then the new one, then there is another box for the new password but could not paste it in although I could paste it into the new box? So of course it would not change but I wanted to know how can I change it.

There should be a section that shows "Discussions and responses that have violated the Guidelines and hence deleted" No matter how many times one reads the FRAQs and Guidelines it is experience that makes one perfect and one is bound to sometimes break rules no matter how studious or diligent a myLotter here, may be.
