Friend requests

On Face Book I have had some friend requests from people I haven't ever heard of. I looked at one of the profiles and saw that she is Face Book friends with two of my friends. So I asked each of my friends who she is. Neither of them had got any idea. She wrote a message to one of my friends. I am confused why she wants to be friends when she doesn't know us. Do you know all your Face Book friends? Why do you think that the lady wants to be friends with me and my other two friends when she doesn't know us?

That happens to me a lot too. some people recommend other people and they really don't know them either. Lots of people request friends for the game playing, it doesn't really matter if they really know you but it helps them in certain games to reach higher levels and more points or coins.

I know this to be true. A friend had given me an invite or something to some game they were playing, and next thing I know I'm getting requests from people I don't know. I look to see who we have in common as friends, when I see that it is just the people who play games - I ignore the friends request. I really am not being mean, I just don't think that I would have too much in common with them - especially since I don't even play the game my friends do......

I usually accept people I don't know then I ask them where they are and who they are, if I don't get a response that I am looking for then its the delete button lol, am quite careful who is on my facebook account and I will accept but then delete if needed

Isn't it a moment of pride when one is selected to be a person with the most friends. In my opinion, it could be because you are friends of the friend. Some people subscribed to the mentality that another's friend are also his/her friends. It is simply easy with facebook to link one to another.

I have a few friends that I have made via various forums that I may never have met so I tend to restrict what they can see on my profile just to be on the safe side - I never have any friends where I do not know where they are from at all or say not know how they became my friends although I do know of some who have doen exactly what you have said and added me because they know somebody I do, even though we don't know each other! That makes no sense to me as why would you want to be a friend of a person you have never communicated with before?

Hi Max, I too get those type of f'ship requests. Usually I will accept their friendship, and got connected to many wonderful people thus. Facebook's motto is to connect more and more people together. So I don't think it is good idea to neglect those. Most of my best friends were total strangers, say, a year ago! Yes, some of those friendship requests will be a 'marketing campaign'. Those can be neglected latter. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

I only personally know about half of my Facebook friends. I accept friend invitations from people all over the world that are interested in Raw Vegan Food as we run that type of business and Facebook can be a great business marketing and networking tool. I have a Raw Food group on Facebook and I think a lot of them request my friendship from there, or they search out people with the same interests as them to enhance their FB experience. So perhaps that is why she wants to be friends with you as she has seen that you share interests?

I have a number of friends on Facebook who i personally do not know, but because they are friends of my friends, when they send me friend requests i check on our mutual friends first then i accept. Some requests, i do not accept if i do not know the person or she/he is not a friend of any of my friends. For that lady who send you a friend request, maybe she just needs more friends to add and thinks that you will be great friends on there.

Hi Max, I probably shouldn't be responding to this post because I don't have a facebook account anyway. But I just wanna share that while I've been invited by friends to join facebook many times, I just can't find myself to get interested in it. All my friends already have facebook account, and it seems I'm one of the few left who haven't joined the wagon yet. As to your question, if you can see the person's profile and he/she seems harmless, it won't hurt to add another new friend.

Hi. I know all my friends in facebook and friendster. I never accepted those requested from unknown individuals as I don't know their motives for inviting me. Besides, I have personal information and pictures in my accounts which could be used by some unkind people for bad purposes.

well mazimax8 this always happens with all , some just want to be our friends and some are our enemies who want to spy on us by social networking sites , let me tell you my experience with a person , he was actually my enemy and he kept on sending me request , friend request and when i examined his profile deeply , i found that he is known to me , just wanted to spy on me so always beware from unknown request , always examine the profile deeply.

Stalker... LOL Maybe she's just friendly or it might be a coincidence. Speaking of facebook, I'm not really an FB addict so that explains why I only have one FB friend.

maximax8, As you can see here, this is the very problem about social networking sites and a lot of times these "strangers" are not brought in by ourselves but friends of ours. Friends who are careless and negligent with their online habits. I feel that you should warn your friends about their acceptance of friends into their sites as this is just very dangerous. The least they could do, is to take sometime finding out who the other party is. I do not know what this lady's reasons are but I'd just like to add that she may not be a lady for what you know. Take care.

Honestly I found many of my MyLot friends on there by friends we shared. I try to request and let them know that I am a mylotter and my name here but sometimes I forget.... but a friend told me that it can be annoying to guess so I have been more diligant in adding a note to my request. May be message the person and ask why she wants to be your friend.... maybe she's an idiot like me. *shrug*

I have friends that have added me on facebook that I don't know, too. I added one girl because she is a friend of my niece's and I didn't know her from Adam. This was when I was new to facebook but I just thought any friend of my niece's is a friend of mine. A guy added me here lately thinking I was the same Kathy Jones he went to high school with. I told him we could be friends, anyway. Is it possible this girl could have added you thinking you were somebody she knew but it turns out she doesn't? Kathy.

I'm only friends with people that I know on Facebook. Sometimes I have had people from high school friend me and it took me a while to realize who they were because they got married and changed their last name.
