Anybody like Cable?

I love to watch cable in the evenings. There are certain channels I enjoy the most. I love the History Channel especially when they have docs on about Egyptology and ancient cities like Rome, Greece, Egypt, etc. Then I enjoy NatGeo(National Geographic). Lastnight there was a documentary on the brain and three men who were savonts(sp). Very interesting! Also the BIO channel is always having something on it like Ghost Hunters or the new Celebrity Ghost Stories. Fun stuff! And lastly the TCM and AMC is wonderful. Old movies with actors like Burt Lancaster in The Birdman of Alcatraz or Barbara Stanwyck in Double Indemnity. I do enjoy a good vintage movie. I remember back in the late 70's when I worked at the telephone company and there was this one young guy that always came to work looking like death warmed over. I set by him one day and asked him what was up. He said he stayed up all night watching cable. It was new in the area then. What are your favorite channels and programs?

No cable for us. We have Dish. In our area Cable is expensive as well as unreliable. Come with living in the middle of no where I guess.

Well I have never had an issue with my Dish in the 6 years I have had it. My cable would go out all the time and then they would charge me to fix it! I know in urban areas there is less trouble with cables as there are cables underground every where. Here it is not the case and the neighborhood we are in now has no cables at all, if we want to get it we have to pay a $500 fee to put them in, $500 so that they can give me an over priced service.

I did like cable until we could not afford to transfer the service to our house as it is not cable ready and I am a stay at home mom. I do miss several of the channels but we have made do w/o it for nearly 9yrs and as long as there is free broadcast tv we will not switch back.... too expensive.

Hey celtic! I love to watch cable too! In fact, I mostly watch cable shows in the evening especially after 10PM! It's all cable after that always! I just love the shows you can find on cable! I watch Chelsea Handler at 11:00PM on Channel 51 (think that's E!) and then some Showbiz stuff and sometimes I watch channel 59 which has Nancy Grace and Joy Behar! I also loved the HGTV Channel which has been taken off because they are fighting with cable right now and I am so pissed because I love that channel! I love those decorating shows and house hunters and all that! I really don't watch much tv until the late evening! I am online here until at least 10PM or so!

Hi. I love cable, too! When we got our cable before I did nothing but watch all day. The cable in your country may have some channels that we don't have here, and vice versa. But to tell you, I particularly like MTV, HBO, Star Movies, Lifestyle Network (I like Giada's cooking show), NatGeo, and Discovery Channel. We didn't have Animal Planet included in the type of subscription we had, though I really wanted to watch that. Currently we have no cable subscription. I just surf all day, I don't have anything more to watch at local TV.

Most of my very favorite shows are on the cable channels. I watch all the repeats of Cold Case and Without a Trace on TNT, the house hunting shows, My First Place and Property Virgins on HGTV and several of the cooking channel shows too. I like the crime solving shows on Tru TV and watch Nancy Grace and Jane Velez Mitchell for the current crimes. There are very few "must watch" programs for me on the regular channels, but I do like Big Bang Theory and The Good Wife.

I had cable (in Scotland) until a couple of years ago, when I had trouble with customer services who totally messed up what I was able to see, so cancelled it and went over to freeview (which unfortunately didn't get some of the channels like history, nature or documentaries) . I've just reluctantly taken out a Sky subscription, because my local tv company STV decided to opt out of taking network programmes that people actually wanted to watch, and I could get these programmes from Sky. I now get some programmes in High Definition which looks much better.

I really like cable because I enjoy the wide variety of choice it gives you above standard TV. Living in the UK, we have different channels to you guys across the pond, but some channels often provide international programmes. My current favourite is Dexter, I'm really digging it atm Usually if there is nothing on that I am not interested in (very rarely), I just flick over to the film channels and see whats on. Yes the films often repeat themselves a lot, but there is a good range of very top-quality films

Yes, I like cable. Even though most of the movies are re-run all over again, I would prefer it over the regular shows locally. I've always watch the NGC, Animal Planet and Discovery Channel. Myth Buster and Survivor man is mostly my favorite one. Natures and animals shows too.

I love watching cable television and spend several hours each day doing just that. I like some of the same things as you when it comes to my favorite channels. I LOVE the History Channel and watch it almost everyday, especially when it has to do with American or World History. I also like the National Geographic channel but don't watch it that much, unless I know that there will be something on that I like. In addition to those, I watch a lot of news shows and sports. Another channel that I have become addicted to is the Home and Garden channel. My wife and I watch it daily; our favorite show on there is House Hunters. It's addicting.

in the era of cable channel we witness many good things that give momentum to our day to day experiences..but there are many negative effects on our social life also, one, the news channels present news as cheap commodities for cheap popularity and maximizing profit,,there is some nasty competition among themselves also in the sphere of breaking news,,so we should watch the news channels as facts presenting medium not in a modified manner rather in a realistic one..second,,some people are addicted of watching some specific serials through which the channels try to kill the valuable time of viewers and to carry forward the profit oriented commercial campaigns,,so we should watch serials as time pass or for gaining some valuable things, and stay away from addictive nature... in my case i like to watch Discovery channel, National Geography, Animal Planet,,as these channels are very much useful in the directions of acquiring general knowledge as well as entertainment...

yes i do like cable...sometimes, there ARE days when it feels like im going through 800 channels of nothing, but it's not often. it just happens once in awhile. i like having tv land, the channel dedicated to all the old shows, and i like the lifetime movies, but they can make you so sad sometimes and i like being able to have free music channels! it's nice to have when i want to exercise at home.
