Do you do medical checkup annually?

I only did medical checkup when I was required to do so, because I am really afraid of taking the blood test. But, it's advisable to do it every year, so that we are aware of our health condition and also can prevent some diseases. I was discussing this topic with my colleague today, and she told me she does not dare to do medical checkup as she is afraid to know if she has any health problem. As for myself, I always prefer to know if my health is not in good condition, so that I can take any actions to make it better. As I'm growing older, I think I should go for medical checkup yearly. How about you? Do you do medical checkup every year? Do you prefer to hide the health problem from yourself, or do you prefer to know it earlier?

Hello kaka135 me too earlier use to keep on postponding the medical checkup, but got trapped by some serious stomach problems. There after am doing regular full checkup of mine health and body atleast twice in a year to avoid any unhealthy situation. Its better to follow prevention than cure, as was been under medication for nearly two years for some stomach problems.Even now am used to the checkups and not longer need to be afraid of it, actually it feels good after the checkup is done.Anyways keep it up with your health conditions, keep on checking its worth it, Happy mylotting.

Hi there, thanks for your response. Yeah, it's always better to check our health condition, then we know what we should take care of. Hope your stomach problem has gone. ^_^

I don't go to the doc so much for preventative stuff as I go because I'm having a problem - I've actually not been since September - and that's really good for me! I've been so much healthier since I retired!

this is interesting because i know someone who is like this as well! she'd rather not do a full medical check up because it might turn up some bad news. that totally doesn't make sense to me, cos with all medical situations, it's always better to know early than late, because early intervention could save your life. for instance in the case of boob cancer, they are always urging yearly mammograms so that they can detect small lumps which are much more likely to be benign than large ones. For diabetes as well, it is often less serious when detected early and treatment can be applied before it gets worse. So I'd rather go for a comprehensive check annually. My company subsidises that, so I usually sign up for it.

Hello my friend kaka135 Ji, AS a retired soldier's wife, I am very much aware and much experienced with these annual medical check up. In forces it is done at regularly. People can never skip, else they will not be allowed to proceed on leave. Apart from that in case any particular area has any symtonms of any type of special diseases, a protective vaccination and innaculation has to be taken. I think, it is right for everyone to get medically examoned annually. I also feel all Ladies must get themselves properly checked after age 40 yrs with Gynic to take some additional Calcium, which plays important roll and for children . every year Dentist must check up. Since five yrs I have been doing my at least eight types of blood tests as I suffer with RA/HTN/DM2/UTI. May God bless You and have a great time.

I never did annual medical checkups. Then when I was 55 I got insurance at work that paid for the annual checkup. I went to a doctor and found out that I had emphysema, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I had probably had these conditions for years but had always thought that I was very healthy. What a shock! I went from not taking any prescribed medicine to taking about five and having to track several conditions as daily tests of my blood sugar.

Hi kaka! I go to the doctors a few times a year! I am on certain medications so I need to be checked every four months with a blood test. I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol so I have to get checked out accordingly. I am not happy to go to the doctor either and am afraid, but it is important to go! And it is really important for women to go to get Mammograms and gynecological exams once a year, especially as they get older!

I get checkups among checkups many times a year because of my disabilities but I would suggest anyone to get annual checkups.... It is worth the cost that your insurance does not pay just to know you are healthy or catch something early.

There are people who are afraid to undergo medical check because of what the diagnosis might be. But i personally don't blame these type of people. they just have to understand that prevention is better than the cure. So the early people understand this concept the better. Because why be afraid? we all die any way.

I do not go to medical check up every year. But ,when you go for a check up, you should consult a Good Doctor. In one of the cases, one of my friend went for a annual check there immediately, he was to get operated for heart ailment. In some cases after seeing the result they are psychologically effected. In my case , once I went for a medical checkup at that point of time Sugar was little up but the Doctor advised me to bring it to control without medicine. Now I am hale and healthy. If I have started taking medicine certainly, I would have faced lot of problem. It is good to go for medical checkup and keep oneself psychologically stronger.

I don't! I am like your friend - I don't want to know what is wrong with me. I mean I go in there and they always find something. I don't want to give my head the idea there is something wrong with my body. I mean mind or matter. I usually good to see the doctor when I have pain I can no longer deal with. I do not advise my method. It is truly best to see your doctor at least annually. I simply don't like doctors, needles and things.

Our company bring us to do medical checkup annually.I feel a little nerves when i get the report from the hospital.I know people why they don't want to go to hospital for medical checkup, they are afraid to know the result, for them , no result is good result. I will not do medical checkup if our company not bring us to, but if i find i'm not comfortable, i will go to see the doctor.

Hi Kaka, I visit a doctor when I am seriously ill otherwise I don’t like to go to the doctor. I don’t afraid of blood test and last month I have gone through one and the result was good. I think annual medical check up is good; it will help us to know about our health status. If there is some problem with diabetic, blood pressure etc those people should go through their regular check up for better health.

I think the same holds true for alot of people. I have an ongoing health situation so I see my doctor more than annually. I probably see my doctor about 4-5 times a year just because I have to have med checks and so forth. There are certain tests that both males and females should have after certain ages so I do that as well.

I usually have medical checkup. twice a year, because of our company's policy. But it is free, it is good cause you can prevent whatever health problem you may have. Prevention is better than cure. And you can also know your health and fitness status. I believe that we must be aware of our health status. Another saying again, health is wealth. :-)
