This discussion is for sarahruthbeth22 who is a big fan of the Washington Capitals. Sorry I had to pull the trigger on this one. I was glad that the caps have made Ovie the captain. It is about time. I think the responsibility would help curb the edge at which he plays sometimes. That is not to say that I would like him to change his play. His antics on and off the ice is what makes me a bit of a fan. And I hope that the caps win the cup soon, as I would like a real rivalry between him and Sid the Kid. Of course, let my canucks win first! They even won tonight on his debut as captain! Do you think he would be a good captain? Wadyatink?

Congrats to Ovenchicken. Even though I poke fun at him I do find great enjoyment sometimes watching him breakaway down the ice through a lot of traffic and score! Just not when he does that to my favorite teams! He is a great hockey player and he does deserve the "C". I think he has shown leadership and has carried his team for years. I know Sarah is HAPPY!! :)

Would the C on his crest mean chicken? For oven-chicken? I think it's great for him. He hasn't burn Luongo and the canucks yet in recent memory, so his antics is still fine by me. He is a one-man-highlight-reel, and I am a fan.

I thought of Sarah when I heard this too. I could hear her hoot of pride for her caps and Ovie. Maybe it will make him take a second look at some of his antics..if nothing else, I bet it pissed sid the cry baby kid off!!

Sid has still one up on Ovie, as he has already won the cup. But that was payback for Ovie winning rookie of the year. Because of the lock out, instead of Ovie winning one year, and then Sid the following year, they had to go head to head. Whatever happens, it is still great marketing for the NHL between this two!

and we all know that the NHL is all about the marketing. Ovie will get his turn with the cup..Sid probably won't shake his hand either..Ovie gets my vote over sid every time. He's never had alot of luck against the wings either, this will be his year, if things keep going the way they have for us of late.

Thanks Bounce. Believe it or not , I hadn't heard the good news.Ovie was already a leader on the ice . now he can be off the ice too. Plus he can Legally talk to the refs! I think the C won't make him change his play not one bit.I would love to see Ovie hoist the cup. I just hope they don't have to beat the wings to do it, lol. but then again I did see the wings sweep the caps in the final. payback could be nice to see. Thanks for staring this post. Basketball and football take over the sports news here in the D.C. area. i hadn't heard about Ovie.

That's All everyone is talking about. I am happy about Shanahan and disappointed with Arenas but the Ovie story is important too.I should be used to hockey being non existent in the sportscast but I'm not.

Hi bounce, naturally Alexander the Great was Great as he was Greek. I haven't got a clue what he'd doing in your discussion though which appears to be written in sports language which is a foreign one to me, along with techno speak.

Hi thea. Unfortunately, the Alexander we're talking about here is not Greek, but is in fact Russian. He is a superstar in ice hockey and plies his trade here in north america, that is the NHL. Sports and techno to you, politics and religion to me, I think.
