Your problem area?

I've been losing weight since the end of October, I'm down about 60 lbs now, but still have around 50 more pounds to go. One of the first things I noticed getting thinner was my face, then my husband noticed my rear end was shrinking. My legs also started getting smaller quickly, I could tell by how loose my pants were fitting in the butt and leg areas. I'm also seeing more of an hour glass figure in my waist that had never been there before. But the one area that doesn't seem to be shrinking as quickly is my tummy! It's definitly gotten a bit smaller, but it seems to be the last area of my body that's losing fat. It gets depressing sometimes, when I look in the mirror and still see my big gut. I try to tell myself that soon it will get to a point where there's not enough fat anywhere else, so my body will have no choice but to burn the fat in the tummy area! I notice some women have seemingly flat tummy's, but a lot of fat in the butt and thigh area, while others have normal sized rears but big guts (like me). Then there are those that just put on fat all over, and lose it all over as well. So what is your problem area? What part of your body seems to be the last to start losing fat?

Problem area..well can we change that to problem areas? I lose weight in my boobs first, then my face then feet then waist then butt...but my legs it seems are the last place I lose weight and I have big legs/thighs..I hate it..I can lose 20 inches in my waist but still have my big legs..smaller a small bit..but they are always a sore thumb with me...Seems the more I work on my legs the slower they lose there...

I used to ride a bike and walk all the time, but not lately although I still love riding. my mom has a apple shaped body and has little legs with the heavier top..while I am more hour-glass or pear shaped..I am the only one with the big legs in my family so it must have come from my dad's side(never met him or his family) So it could be genetics..

hi you pear shaped people are more lucky, its us apples that have to watch out, and I should have a long time back as we are the ones who get diabetes much easier. My legs will get skinnier and look funnywith my apple body when I start losing weight. he he.

My legs are big only because they're muscular. I've always been a walker, my whole life, I can walk all day, and that made me gain some major muscle in my legs. But I think genetics plays a role in it as well. I mean with all the walking I've always done, you'd wonder how on Earth I could have been overweight my whole life too.

It goes on the stomach and boobs first and comes off there last. In fact, the last time I lost a lot of weight, most of it never did come off the boobs. The stomach was a little bit more cooperative.

Well now it does tend to lead to back strain, you know. Also when you get older, they do tend to go south. Ever hear of "chest in drawers disease?"

Oh no I don't have to wait until I'm older. I'm a size D and have had 5 kids (4 of which I nursed, creating a DD size at the time). Yeah, I know all about the whole tucking them into your pants thing... lol! But with a good, supportive bra, nobody would ever know.

I don't know if I'd complain too much about fat piling up on the boobs...

My stomach is definitely one of my problem areas too. And the tops of my thighs for some reason don't seem to be getting any smaller. Way to go on the weight loss! i kind of stalled in mine over christmas. I keep hovering around my 10% loss goal but haven't been able to hit it yet. You are definitely my hero being able to lose that all and take care of 5 kids!

oh cats thats lovely as so many gyms around here have no place for the kiddies, and that seems to me to be really important.

It's actually easy for me. Well, not the watching what I eat, but I just love going to the gym everyday. It's like my "me" time. I have all that time to just think about things, or I read some gossip magazines or things like that, without getting interrupted by the kids. They're off in the free day care which they absolutely love too!

I put weight on pretty evenly all over. When I do lose weight my stomach shrinks funny and sometimes I think it looks worse than when I was heavier. My face is where I notice my weight loss first when I have it. I have not lost any weight lately if anything I have gained weight.

The holidays tend to do that to a lot of people. I couldn't imagine having to make all the toffee you do... because I'm a taste tester when I make sweets... that's why I haven't baked any cookies since I began this diet!

Wow congratulations on your weight loss! How did you do it if you don't mind me asking? I have been trying to loose some weight and my weight goes up and down but Ihave lost ten pounds but it took a little over a week. My problem area is the same as you I don't know if it is in the same place but it is like when I sit down I have a pouch in my belly. It is like the sit-ups I do are not working?

Doing sit ups will not burn fat, you have to do cardio work outs for that.

Mine is also my belly, but I think my neck is getting fatter. It seems not as sleek as it was 20 years ago... that could be age... I've heard that bellies need to be detoxed due to fat just spackled inside our insides. I'm looking into this. I've set a goal to loose 25 lbs in 2010. I'm journaling in a discussion I have running, so if anyone knows about this detoxing the belly, please find me and post it on my discussion so others that have this might read it too! I am SOO Proud of you for loosing 60 POUNDS!! WOW!! That's amazing! You can do it! Keep going!! Bear

hi both of you do beware of that detox stuff as some of my friends went that way and got dreadfully sick, its just not worth it believe me.

That detoxing thing sounds like a scam. I never buy into cr@p like that. The only way to lose weight is by getting plenty of exercise and eating right and drinking water, and of course having plenty of patience.

My stomach, most definitely! It's kind of dispensed everywhere, so at least it isn't localized to just one spot, but my stomach is the worst of all. And no matter how hard I work out it seems to always stick around. Good luck with losing that last bit of weight! Keep up the good work! Happy mylotting!

In my case its exactly opposite. I mean exactly opposite. I have put on around lbs from October. Well, its very proud moment for me as I was underweight. I used called with different adjectives for my thin and slim body. But now people have stopped as I have gained weight. I am happy that I am not overweight and I am keeping very close look at my BMI (Body Mass Index) to be on safer side. Now the hardest part is to keep it there and not over my body with fat. Only one thing I miss is my favorite cloths, which I can't wear not as my waist is increased by few inchs for better.

Congratulations on all of your weight loss that is awesome. I am naturally big in the rear it is hereditary my mom is really thin but still has a big butt not huge but a little big. Even when I was really thin I had the Jalo butt. I was always thin in the waist though. Up until the last few years where I had gained weight, but I have lost 14 pounds so far and my waist is going away again. It will take more for my rear end to shrink. My jeans are really loose now though so that makes me pretty happy. I have about 15 maybe 20 more pounds to go and I will be very happy.

My tummy is my problem area too - like you when I do try to lose weight I see it coming off from my little 'pouch' as I call it but, I really notice it on the top of my arms and on my double chin mostly!! Keep up the good work as it sounds like you are doing really well!
• United States
7 Jan 10
Yes, my double chin is gone too! I first noticed the weight loss in my cheeks, but then after a few weeks went by my husband noticed my chin had gotten smaller and the double chin is gone. I guess that is what is most important, because it's your face that everyone stares at all the time... not your belly.

Even after four children I always lost it in my stomach first. I exercised until up to about 50 and never had a big gut- but I have one now. Am trying to cut down on food portions and walk a bit more but I do hate my gut so very much. Haven't lost anything yet but then I only started a few days agoI'm making small changes like I still had an egg sandwich for breakfast but no butter on the bread -just a smear of ketchup and the egg was boiled not fried. Had a banana mid morning and a coffee and at lunchtime had a cup of ramen soup. Noting until dinner tonight and then I will cut down on portions and eat a piece of fruit before bed if I am hungry. I am just trying so hard to cut down. But I cannot go to sleep if I am hungry. Keep at it, you are marvellous.

You're so lucky never having to worry about your gut until now. I've always had mine, even when I was a kid, and part of me is afraid it won't go away no matter how thin I get. Your new diet sounds pretty good... except I'd worry about the amount of sodium in that ramen soup. I'd work on finding a replacement for that... everything else sounds fine. Even the eggs, yes they have a lot of fat and cholesterol, but it's breakfast and that's okay, and they have loads of protein and other great vitamins and minerals. (Although eating just the egg whites would be even better! Although the yolk is my favorite part)

First off--I wan to know how you are doing it?? And secondly--WAY TO GO!!! I have just started to diet and I am going to try to work out on my new Wii. Do you have a stressful job? I have heard that we women have problems with belly fat because of some of the stress in our lives. My first place to lose weight is in my boobs and that is the last place I WANT to lose it! OH well. Happy Mylotting!!

I'm doing it the good old fashioned way, eating better, drinking water, and going to the gym everyday. Getting in at least an hour of cardio then doing about half an hour of weights. I don't feel satisfied with my work out until I'm drenched in sweat! I do have a stressful job actually. I'm a stay at home mom of 5... does it get any more stressful than that? But I've always had the belly issue actually, even long before I ever had kids. I think it's just my genetics. I know what you mean about the boobs, I was worried about that too. I've always been a D cup, and it looked to me like they were shrinking. I knew I needed a new bra because it doesn't fit around the chest anymore, so I went and tried some on, thinking I'd dropped to a C. Thankfully the C's were way too small! It fit around the chest just fine, but the C cup did not work. I'm still a D... which is good because I'm still overweight and my boobs are perfect proportion to my body right now. Any smaller and I'd look flat.

Hi Katsmeow1213, That lovely wonderful mid section seems to be the problem child for us all. I also notice my weight lose (and gain) in my face first then it moves to the legs butt and arms, but the tummy area haha. I can do crunches all day and night I think sometimes and still have the same results. Congrats on the weight lose that is extremely good in just a few months. I need to lose 30-40 lbs.and I want it gone before August. (getting married in Oct) So I am working at it. The cold weather and snow doesn't help here since I cant get out right now. I know it will be okay as long as I can lose a few now and once spring gets here and I can get outside to walk and go biking it will be a whole new game. So I'll keep eating right and staying as active as I can.

I haven't gotten on a serious diet though I would like to. I think though that the stomach is the last thing that a woman starts losing weight in, I'm not sure why though. I think the few lbs. I have lost has been in other areas of my body then my tummy. I'd love to lose a few lbs there, maybe 15 or so. I'd like to atleast fit into a medium, but as it is I am an extra large in shirts.

As for me, I am a pear shaped body, so my problem areas are all three in the lower part of my body. I have my rear end, my gut and my thighs. But, in losing the weight that I've lost, I also tend to get the most frustrated about my belly. That is the thing that I can constantly see and thus it is the part of my body that bothers me the most. I try to do a lot of crunches to help with my core and all the rest of my core looks pretty good except for my belly. I really can't wait for the day that I am not fat anymore and I know that I am going to do it. I wish that I was able to go to the gym every day to work out, but I can't so I do what I can at home and I am eating healthier and that seems to be working out well for me.
