Do you get up at different times in your family or the same times?

My husband gets up at 5:30AM and I get up at 6:00AM. We only have one bathroom with only one toilet, so it just makes sense for us to get up at different times. He gets up first because he works 25 miles away and I work 1, 8, or 10 miles away (depends on the school I sub for that day). He has to be there for quarter to 7 and I have to be at my job for quarter to 8. So do you get up at different times? Why? Do you get up at the same times? How do you manage it? We used to when we lived somewhere with 2 bathrooms. Thanks and take care.

My family members all get up at different times. My mom is always the first one up- on weekdays she gets up around 5 or 6, and on weekends 6 or 7. My sister is the second to wakeup on weekdays and usually the last on weekends. I'm in college and NOT a morning person- I take afternoon classes so I usually get up between 9 and 11 everyday.

My husband usually gets up anytime between 7.30am and 9am. If I'm working an early shift, I get up at 5.30 (or a bit earlier lately to allow for the icy roads and 'defrosting' the car); if I'm working a late its usually around 9am. On the days I dont work it could be anytime between 6am and 10am depending on what time I went to bed.

Hubby gets up at 3:15 a.m. (yuck) and I get up at 6:45 a.m. during the week. Every other weekend I am up at 6 a.m.! Lovely hours. But, even though we have 2 bathrooms he still uses the one adjacent to our bedroom. He uses the night light so not to wake me. I do manage to go back to sleep once he is out of bed.

3:15 is an odd time to wake up. That's like the middle of the night no matter what time of the year. He must be driving in the dark all year round. Yuk is right. He must be really motivated to get to work.

He was without a job for about a year. He is fortunate to be able to get a job with the economy so poor.

I usually wake my son up about 10 minutes after I wake up in the morning and my daughter about 10 minutes after I wake my son up. I usually get up around 7 during the week. On weekends I will sometimes sleep in and my daughter will hop up on my bed and play quietly for a little bit and let me sleep. Other times she will go wake up her big brother and they will play while I sleep in.

10 minutes apart sounds good. She must play very quietly and you must sleep fairly soundly. Thanks and take care.

Everyone in my house gets up at a different time because we all work different shifts, so it varies from very early in the morning until 8pm at night because my brother works third shift and has to be in for 11pm or 12am sometimes, depending on his schedule. I am usually up by 10am every day, it's sort of an internal clock I have inside me lol

Wow, everyone working a different shift. My husband and I did that for awhile, it was hard. Glad we're both days, for the most part, now. I do afternoons sometimes for cleaning.

In my family its just my husband and I and of course our dog and 3 cats. He gets up at around 5AM in order to let the dog out, feed them and get to work for 6AM. I on the other hand have to be in for 8AM and usually get up about 6:30 - 7 AM. The hardest part in this setup is I usually wake up when he gets up and then I try to fall back asleep for about another hour before I have to get up. Whether or not it really helps is yet to be determined. We have been on this schedule for over a year and I still dream of a life where I work for myself and don't have to tolerate such strange work/sleep schedules.

I hear you. We all wish we could work for ourselves. A few people at etsy.com have managed that. But not most of us. Thanks and take care

We get up at different times, most of the time. I am working a day shift and he works nights. On the days they do make him work days, I get up to help him get up. I usually get up around 5:30 if I need to get anything done anyway.

My wife usually works during the daytime, and I usually work from 3 PM to 11 PM. Usually she gets up well in advance of when I get up. Sometimes I work from 7 AM to 3 PM, which means we will both get up about the same time but I'll leave before she does, but then I will make supper for both of us. This works for both of us.

That's really nice of you. I love it when my husband cooks for me. He was doing that on the weekends, but the he got sick. Maybe he'll start doing that again when he feels better. Yes, we all tend to find things that work for us. Thank goodness.

That's good, but our old bladders have to go immediately upon rising. One of us would have to go outdoors. You must have good internal plumbing in your family. Take care and thanks.

Most of the time I am up first and then I get my husband up. As we have gotten a little older we both have started waking up earlier than we used to, even before the alarm goes off. Most of the time I am awake by 4:00 or 4:30 and if he is able to sleep that long I get my husband up at 6:00. I get coffee going and take it to him in bed to wake him up. If he should wake up first he will get the coffee going. I work at home so the only thing I have to do is make sure I am dressed in time to take our son to school but my husband has to leave by 7:00 to get to work by 7:30.

I have an orbiting body clock. From week to week I go from sleepoing at night to sleeping in the daytime and it cycles around and around like that. My dad is pretty regular but he stays uyp til like three in the moring sometimes, he takes a lot of naps.

I had that problem, orbitting body clock after I worked nights for awhile, but now I'm back to a regular schedule. It sounds like your Dad has to take naps in order to get all his sleep in. Does he watch lots of movies or something?

I get up about the same time as everyone else on most days. Other days, I get up a bit earlier. Sometimes I have to go to the bathroom and if its not too early, I just stay up. Do some work on the computer. I always hope to catch the bathroom first, because with one bathroom it can be hectic early in the morning.

I have two kids, wife and a brother-in-law in my family. My eldest son five years old have to go to school at 8:15 a.m. daily. My wife is always afraid to get up early therefore I used to get up by 5:30 a.m. and wife at 7:20. My son needs to to be woken up at 7:00 so that he is ready to school by 8:00. In way, all this routine in my family is a good thing and we both love this sort of life.

Okay, I'm a college student. Just have to put that as a disclosure. My wakeup schedule is sporadic! On average, though, I tend to like waking up at noon. I love my sleep and love getting at least 10 hours of it. At school, naturally, I had been waking up around 7AM to get ready for classes. However, I'm not saying I enjoyed that. My family on the other hand wake up fairly regularly (my dad earlier than my mom since he has work and travels often).

I read a study once that says that teens and early 20s, many people need more sleep. I grew up going to bed at 9 and up at 6. When I deviate from that, I can't seem to wake up. We're all different. That gives me 9 hours, if I got up at 7, that would give me 10. But now I don't sleep a lot of that time, my eyes seem to need all that time to rest, but a lot of the rest of my body doesn't. Thanks and take care. P. S. Hope you do great in school.

My husband wakes up Monday thru Friday at 5 a.m. and then wakes me up at 5:30 and then we start our day from there. On Saturdays I prefer sleeping in so I am never up usually before 9 while he still wakes up early. Then on Sunday he is up by 8 at latest while I usually get up around 8:30 to get ready for church, For us this is what tends to work the Best.

He wakes up even earlier than my husband. You wake up earlier than me. Each family had their own schedule that works well for them. I like sleeping in on the weekend, too. Mostly I get up whenever I get up. Thanks and take care.

Hi Krause Home: Yeah every family have their own way to plan their days depending on the things they need to do and what should matter is that everything works that way. It seems that your husband is very responsable because of his schedule life, that's very good. Thanks for your answer Krause Home. Hope you are having a nice day. Keep mylotting. Take good care of you. -Alvaro.

Hi writers edge: In my house we get up at different times. Now I am waking up at 6 am because I need to go to college, my little sister get ups at 5 am when she's in her high school because she needs to be there at 6 am and put everything righ. My fater get ups at 8 am to go to his work and my eldest brother gets up whenever he wanted in the morning because he doesn't have any responsabilities in the mornings. My mom get ups generally at 4 am to prepare our breakfast, she's so good with us. Well, I think that's it. Thanks for sharing with us how things work in your house. Hope you are having a nice day. Keep mylotting. Take good care of you. -Alvaro.
