I been to a place with a hibachi grill where you put all the ingredients you want on a plate and then you bring the plat to the hibachi grill and the guys cook it right there for you in front of you. We alos went to a very nice restaurant where they cooked your food at your table side for you. If I was a chef I don't think I would like to be watched while I cook. It annoys me when my kids come in tot he kitchen while I am cooking dinner unless they are helping.

I have only been to a couple of them and it has been so long. And if I were a chef I defenetily wouldn;t want anyone watching me either unless I was a pro at it. L.O.L. About he kids I don't blame you there either.

i have been to a place like that, but its not a restaurant...it is a snackhauz..our small snack hauz...^^, we cook meriendas for our customer, and they can see us cooking..but i'm not a chef.. our family just know how to cook...from parents to us their children... but now where moving our kitchen, there, customer can't see us..we transferred our kitchen because the dining area is small, when we cook, the atmosphere gets hot, all of us sweat including customers....we like being watched while cooking, customers gain trust because they can see us while cooking...

One of my all-time favorite places to eat is called Gojo's Japanese Steakhouse in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. It's popularity comes from the fact that your dining table is shared with other patrons. Up to 10 people sit around a hot grill (which is the only bothersome part). You place your order with the waitress and then a chef will come to your grill table and cook your selections in front of you. It's an amazing experience because these guys really know what they're doing! They bring all the components to the table with them and confirm your order before beginning. There's lots of very cool knife action, flames and kidding around. The chef will generally pick somebody and get them to sit with their mouth open while he'll skillfully "flip" pieces of chicken or shrimp or whatever right into their mouths! It really is an incredibly entertaining experience. Once he's (I've never encountered a female chef there) done, the grill gets turned off and the temperature cools off pretty quickly. You have to have reservations though and sometimes they're booked up to a month in advance! I highly recommend it to anybody finding themselves in the area! If I were a chef, I'd have no problem cooking in front of my customers. They'd get to see what I was doing so they'd know their food was prepared properly.
