tHE OLD BROAD IS HAVING A PITY PARTY TODAY. i'M SORRY & DON'T USUALLY ACT LIKE THIS.It all started last night when i watched a special on ELVIS THAT WAS ON TV FOR HIS BIRTHDAY YESTERDAY. U will have to understand that the day he dies was one of the saddest days of my life. That may sound silly yo y'all but it was like my youth had dies & it was for sure already gone. I was a major fan. It just seems like it has brought up so many sad memories for me. I will get better, maybe if i would quit listening to these cd's it would help. aren't i being ridiculous???

hi! i do understand you.. being a fan of a person really grabs a big part of your life specially if you really idolize him. but drop it. it will not help you at all.. many things are more important today. so get up and fix it.

You know...sometimes you need to do that so you get those feelings out...I know what you mean about Elvis....I even did the trek to Graceland etc....I still have a video of his last concert in Hawaii...it was so sad the way it ended...but today I am sure is better! At least I hope you are having a better day!

I have had days when I was just sad, usually from too much stress. On the other hand, it is legitimate that you should be sad about Elvis and what he represented in your life. It just shows you how human you are, that his music and life touched your life.

I'm sorry your are missing your teen idol. I was broken up after John Lennon was murdered, but I will probably be worse when Paul McCartney or David McCallum die. Yeah, listening to his music isn't helping - I hope you quit!

I know how you feel. Sometimes when I listen to old songs I get emotional too over other things and in your case, it's the segment on the late Elvis special which evoked certain emotions in you. I'm sure you will be fine after a good cry, try ... it helps sometimes. Sometimes, there's just no reason for our sudden emotions. Whenever I go through a bad mood phase, I'll be alright after a few days.

I don't think you're being ridiculous at all. I'm sure a lot of people have felt the same way you have. I was a big fan of his when I was younger but as I got older, there were so many others that I learned to like better. Like so many others, though, I appreciate him more now that he is gone. I listen to his songs and watch his movies more now. As a matter of fact, I saw "Flaming Star" on the western channel the other night. That was one of my favorite Elvis movies. I hope you are feeling better now. Kathy.

No, you are not being ridiculous---i'm having a bad day with tear too. Elvis was the king of rock and roll and an great part of lives in those days. Losing him so tragically tore our hearts out and left us feeling cheated at the very least. I do understand.

No, you are not being ridiculous! I get to feeling this way sometimes too. It happens when I watch an old movie or TV show. I see how young the ppl were and how I know that many of them are no longer alive and I get to feeling sad. Elvis was from my Dad's era and so I don't necessarily feel that way when I think about him, but I can understand why you would feel that way.

hi antiquelady, Yeah, i understand what you feel and although I have born during his time I do know about him through reading his biography and other wonderful stories of his musical career. He is one of a kind and his style is still unmatched even today. No one could ever replace the legend for sure his memory would always remain never forgotten. Well, don;t ever quit listening to his song as through his song he comes alive..I do have cd of his christmas album and have like it best especially the song dedicated for all mother entitled" Mama liked the Roses", they are very emotional and full of meaning.Have a nice day!.

Thanks for your response. I like to hear of a young person that can appreciate things that went on before their time. My parents always listened to music when i was growing up. I still hear songs that remind me of them. Happy sunday to u.

No, you're not being ridiculous. You're being human. It seems to me that most of us over 60 have some sad days when something reminds us that our youth is gone. You actually did better than I did. I saw that there was going to be a special on Elvis to commemorate his birthday and I couldn't bring myself to watch it. I knew it would make me sad. He was also a big part of my growing up years.
