My perfict job would be one I saw a description of one time. These women owned 100 acres. They foraged for food. Whatever they found great amounts of, they picked a percentage of it and sold it to a restaurant. The restaurant would feature a wild, local food item made with what they brought in. Wondering through the woods with baskets, bags, etc. The peace and tranquilty, oh what fun I would have. The next best job would be the one where these people got a grant, there were three of them, to try to eat all locally, the rules were for them to eat food produced within a 100 miles of where they live with and I think 3 trade items. They were paid to do that for a certain amount of time, I think it was a year. Each had a different diet and were surprised at the foods they could find. Riding around, finding farmers' markets, road side stands, and looking for farmers to buy stuff from to put the food up for winter. So what would be your perfict job? What aspects of it appeal to you?

That sounds nice. I would love an editorial job. One where I am reading shorts for a site or one where I am the tester for a good candy like truffles or something. I think a tester would be a great job. Ofcourse I would only work for the best candy company. One I like and when they come out with a new flavor I would test it.

That sounds like a great job, I'd be double wide in not time (candy sampling one). Editorial job is one I could do, but with deadlines and everything, I don't think I would enjoy it.

Ya, that one would depend on several things.

The perfect job for me now would be one where I can sit and also talk with customers. Not interested in working in a call center or sales over the phone. This may sound "old" but I could really like being a Walmart greeter but can't stand in one spot that long because of my aching back. I also have the skills to work in any office but don't want to deal with some of the caddy comments that fling around an office. Right now I am working from home and helping our kids with their baby girl. It's been fun and very rewarding.

All very interesting jobs. I worked for a company once that placed me in stores to give out samples. It was a blast however they sent me to the wrong store twice, I didn't get paid and went home. This was after loading my car with a table, etc. The standing was awful but it was a really fun job. If I could do this with a reliable company and be able to sit, I would do it again in a heartbeat. The fun stories I was told or running into people I hadn't seen in years was fun. Working the weekends was not so much fun.

Yeah, I wish the economy hadn't tanked. I loved my dog and cat food selling job. I loved listening to people tell stories about their animals.

Either one of those would suit me. I would love to be totally self sufficient, although that's not possible in this world any more. My ideal job would be to live off the grid, grow my own food, make my own clothes, heat and cook with wood, etc., and then write about it when I wanted to, and get paid well for it! But realistically, I have the best job I could imagine. I write and I moderate a forum. If I could just get a place in the country again, I'd be all set.

At my age, I don't know if I could do all that, but I'd love to at least try gathering my own food. Sounds like you have a wonderful job. I hope you're able to get a place in the country again. Thanks and take care

I like my current job, but I think that my perfect job would be a bit more "Walden". I would be a writer and a hermit for a while.

Yes, there certainly is a reason for that phrase. Have you read any of the etsy.com colums? They have some good ideas for starting a shop with them. You might not be able to live comfortably, but maybe get a little bit of seed money. One never knows. Thanks for your response and take care.

My perfect job would be what my current dream is. I want to own a sportbike shop, that customizes sportbikes, both visual and performance... But also that teaches customers how to work on their own bikes, how to ride... etc etc.

That sounds pretty cool. I need to learn how to fix bikes. I bet lots of people need to learn skills like that.

I have always wanted to have my own little shop. Somewhere I could sell items I have made, or possibly cooked up, etc. and show off some of my talents. Maybe I would even Self-Publish a book or two and try to sell it there as well. For me to be able to work one on one making a little extra money from a personal basis and being in control of what I can charge, etc. is the Best feeling anyone can ever have as well.
