How to get traffic and members for my forum

What is your forum about, maybe I can join if it's something interesting..

What is more importatnt is that how much interest you yourself have in your forum or new diccussion. Of course, you should be visiting all the other and different online contents on the net. You must need to leave behind trail by adding comments, choosing hyperlinks and messaging or mailing.

Are you a member of other forums or social networking sites? It is often possible to add a link to your own website, and if you are active on other sites, people might get interested in your profile and see your link to your own forum. Another option the category called "I need help" (or something similar) that you will find on some forums. Create a discussion in that category and ask for help with your new forum. I did that when I was looking for members for my forum a few years ago, and I actually found some members that way. If you can afford it you could offer people some money if they sign up and write a certain number of posts. I know that some people have done that in order to get new members and discussions.
