Last night I saw a very moving film, "Extraordinary Measures". I got tickets to an advanced screening of "Extraordinary Measures", starring Brendan Fraser and Harrison Ford for January 14, 2010! This movie is based on the true story of John Crowley, a father of three small children, two of which have a genetic disorder known as Pompe Disease. Harrison Ford plays the role of Dr. Robert Stonehill, a researcher who is trying to create an enzyme which will help to treat patients with Pompe disease, helping to alleviate their symptoms and lead a longer, less symptomatic life. Crowley's (Brendan Fraser's character) wife Aileen is played by acrtress Keri Russell. Crowley, a biotech executive is just starting to see his career blossom when his children are diagnosed with Pompe Disease. He researches the disease and sets about finding Dr. Robert (Bob) Stonehill who is is a research scientist. The 2 become partners and with Crowley's help of finding financial backing Dr. Stonehill sets out to bring into reality the making of a drug to help treat Pompe Disease. There are so many dramatic moments in this movie and many moments and events that brought tears to my eyes. As a mother watching this movie I felt the pain these parents were going through with their children's suffering. I was very touched by this story. I seriously expect to see several Academy Award nominations for this movie, especially from Harrison Ford and from Brendan Fraser. They proved how great of actors they truly are with their stellar perfomances in their roles. I definitely recommend seeing this movie, it is well worth the price of the ticket! This was a great movie and I am truly happy that I got the opportunity to see it in theaters. On top of this the tickets were free! I got them from an email offer that was sent to me. We requested them and were lucky enough to get tickets for two! Since last year, my husband and I have been lucky enough to see "Wolverine", "This Is It", "The Stepfather", "2012", "Old Dogs", and now "Extraordinary Measures". I am so happy to be able to go to the movies for free!! With these freebies I am able to enjoy movies on the big screen without spending a dime and in these tough economic times it is a way to have a free date night with my husband! Have a great day and happy myLotting!!

I wasn't sure how this movie was going to turn out, but I think I may see it if it's that good. I love inspirational stories, but it's going to be hard for any movie to outdo The Blind Side.

You are so lucky to be able to see this movie I have seen previews trailers of it on television for awhile and both are great actors and I had no doubt it would be a great movie..it is awesome to get free tickets! Thanks for the heads up about the movie and letting us know it is just as good as the trailer shows...cause some movies seems they show the best in the trailers of the movie and we get sorely disappointed when it doesn't prove to be what we expected. So many thanks..

It really is a good movie and one that truly is not a waste of money to see in theaters. I really do think that the performances are Oscar worthy. Thanks for your comment and have a nice day!!

"Extraordinary Measures" is one of several new movies I'd really like to see. Its got a good cast and the story sounds very interesting and very moving. Thanks for the recommendation! I find myself a lot more likely to follow the advice of an "ordinary viewer" than that of a professional movie critic since I often have no clue what the critics are looking for in a film. Sure, sometimes they're right but sometimes they're totally wrong, at least as far as I 'm concerned. PLEASE share with me how you scored all those free tickets! I'd go to the movies far more often if they didn't cost so darned much...lol! Annie

I found the site by doing a search for advanced screening on Yahoo. It took a while from the time I signed up to when I started receiving them. But the majority came from my newspaper subscription. It is a benefit that comes with my subscription. Thanks for your comment and have a great day!!

I rented Extraordinary Measures from the library and it is an amazing film. I normally don't like those cure types of films because I feel like its not realistic or representative for the lived lives that disabled people make of themselves but in this case the disease wasn't cured by magical potion it was just managed and they were portrayed as regular people with flaws who just got on with life as it was presented to them.

From the commercials it looked to me like it would be a lame movie. I'm glad to know it isn't.

I like both of these two actors too. I know how hard it can be if you don't have a babysitter, but you are right. There is always the DVD. That or else cable television. Thanks for your comment and have a great day!!

This one is on my list of new movies I want to see. I read an interview with Harrison Ford about it, It was quite the process they went through getting this one made, he said they had to figure out how to fit what actually was years in reality to a 2 hour condensed version for the movie..sounds like they pulled it off.
