What do you write?

All of you people out there interested in writing, what do you write? Do you like to write articles? Do you like to write poetry? Or are you a novel writer? If so, what types of novels do you write? Do you write short stories or do you stick to longer pieces? As for me, I write novels. I've recently started writing short stories in an attempt to get some writing credentials and get published. For the most part I write fantasy because that's my favorite genre, but I do have a few "mutant children" as I like to call them. So what kind of writer are you?

I write, I write ... what do I write? To be honest, mostly I respond to discussions on MyLot. Sometimes I think I ought to go out there and just ... write; but actually I only seem to write when I have someone I can respond to. Yes, I have written articles (some day I am going to go through my responses here and rework them into blogs and articles and stuff that might earn me money). I think that I am good at explaining things. I spent the last five years of my working (no, 'employed') life as a teacher (something I swore I would never be!). I did enjoy - and was told that I was good at it - explaining computers to people who were perfectly capable of understanding them but were scared of them. I also think that I have a gift for writing 'readably' ... sometimes. I can vary from the downright conversational to the unbearably pompous. (What am I today?) Yes, I CAN write (by which I mean that I can write stuff that people want to read ... and do it with reasonable grammar, spelling and punctuation, too!) but the question is why do I only do it here on MyLot for a few cents, when I could, with only a slight change of discipline, do it elsewhere and earn rather more? That is, really, the struggle I have been having with myself these last five, ten, fifteen, twenty ... fifty years. Ask me a question and I will give you an honest, pretty well researched, well composed and thoughtful answer (at least, if it's written - I will say relatively little in conversation ... people very often deliver their own solutions if you listen), but tell me to write 500 words on anything I fancy and I am like "What? Me? ... Where? When? ... No way!"

I tend to write articles and poetry as well as working on an idea for a novel. I had got out of the habit of writing, but thanks to Mylot I have the writing bug again and plan to start writing some more articles very soon.

I don't have the courage to call myself as a writer yet lol. Since childhood, my dream is to become a fantasy novelist. I have started to write a novel back in 2007, but it's not finished until now lol. I also like writing articles and I am a member in an online article writing website. My articles are mainly how-tos and because I like eating, I write about health benefit of food.

when I was in high school I used to write poems since I wasn't that confident in writing stories...but just 2 years ago I started writing mostly short stories until the present. The genre I write is romantic-comedy with a streak of drama. Since I like to stir the emotions of my readers.

My first and foremost interest is in blogging. I'd do it almost every other day or I try my best to update posts everyday in my blogs. If not, once in awhile, but I never delete them. It's fun to blog for fun. The stress is not there at all, as compared to an article writing. Article writings give out a sense of satisfaction as well, but the novelty is not the same as blogging, for me. But the friends in a site where we write for revenue sharing and stuff like that; they are very supportive as compared to blogging, which is pretty much stats that you can see visitors coming to read and whenever they leave comments. Therefore, in a nutshell, I'd say I love blogging and answering discussions in mylot. The others come in next after that.

I also like writing, but I don't have many articles so far. basically I write in English about my travel experience. i want to record my life, as well as to post them on internet so I can make some money. so far I do have a few decentable writing website that pay me very well. I wish I can have more time to write, but sometimes small things take my time and I can't write. I think peace is more important for a writer do their job.

I do a lot of writing, mostly articles online but I also make mini websites and write two blogs, so all of my writing is done online. I have written quite a few articles about a lot of subjects but I'd say most of them are about how to make money online. I also have a few of my own websites, but once built, it doesn't involve a lot of continual writing. I've always thought about writing a novel but have never really tried it. Most of my writing is non-fiction or "how to". I don't know if I'm creative enough to come up with good fiction. I intend to try it sometime though. I like the idea of starting out with short stories. I wish you luck in getting published and I hope it leads to much success and at least one big novel!

Nowadays I write mostly articles, but in the past I would write poetry often, and before that short stories. Even if I lose the inspiration to write fiction I don`t want to stop writting so meanwhile writting articles is a way for not to forget how to write

I mostly enjoy writing lyrics for songs I write. I also compose the music for these songs. I wrote my first actual song when I was 13 and played it with my band at the time. It felt amazing to sing it in front of all these people, all older kids at the local high school (some of my bandmates were older and attended this school) and they all came up to us afterward and told us that it was good. I was very pleased and haven't stopped writing songs ever since.

Writing - Writing is an art but one needs a lot of concentration
I write poetry but of late that has been put on the back burner - thanks to myLot I have great interest in writing and just yesterday I wrote a small article for Bukisa which has been accepted. Hope to take this art seriously.
