just venting a little here soo,
I feel so awful that I keep having to go to the hospital, but I guess I cant help it. We are now sending like five dollars every now and then to keep them from sending my bill to a collection agency. Last night we ended up at the hospital because of extreme pains in my right side. I had another kidney stone... it still hasn't passed yet. So they found this out by doing a ct scan, which is going to cost me a fortune! They gave me some pain meds to last through the night, and gave me a prescription for pain and nausea because I was hurting so bad I got sick. I wish there was someone who would pay my hospital bills!!
I just realized that im in debt by several hundred dollars and not by credit cards but by hospital bills!?! geez!

we too are up to our ears in hospital and Dr. charges. My husbands boss changed our insurance with out telling his employees ( apparently it had been on his to do list for 3 months). So this pregnancy that we thought would cost us around $400 in co pays will cost over $2400 when all is said and done. A bit of a shock that was. Not to mention complications started early and just the blood work (no longer cover because it is diagnostic) racked up $1100 alone. I do not believe in socialized health care but I do believe there should be limits to how much labs, hospitals and doctors can charge. It cannot cost $1100 to run blood through a couple machines and read the results. Not to mention the lab charged a $15 bill for sterile non-latex coverings, in other words $15 for a band aid!

Ohh goodness... Im sorry to hear about that. I cant believe they charge us so much for stupid stuff, when we cant even help that we have to have this stuff! I definitely know they could charge less for most things, but they choose to make as much extra money as possible. They gave me a prescription for 30 narcotic pain pills for something he predicted would be gone and done with with-in 24 hours! why? because he gets paid for every pill he writes a prescription for! ridiculous!

All under the guise of making up lost money because of illegals having to be served but not paying. As well as their "losses" from poor people like us who cannot pay right away.

Hello,
I think this is one of the hardest problem of poor people/citizen in a country that doesn't have any good medical/health benefits for their citizens.
Here in our country...if you are poor...you will surely die becoz, you can't afford the high bills of private hospitals.
The government hospital can't give good services...ok,you can be confined and admitted by government hospitals, but, you are still the one providing your own medicines...so,if you don't have money to buy the medicines...you wait for any aid from other organizations that could donate you with free medications.
I wish this health problem, esp with hospital bills will be resolved soon here in our country, many people were dying due to lack of good health services.
I also wish, you can get through your illness.
Have a nice day always

Things like this make me so glad I live in the UK. Our National Health Service has plenty of faults as people are very quick to point out - but, in the last 2 years I have had 2 MRI scans, 3 ultrasounds, 2 biopsies, 2 operations and NO bills for any of them. It costs me about £100 a year for prescription meds at the moment but that's all I pay for.
I hope you will be well soon and that you'll find a way to get rid of the debt. It seems so wrong that the people who get sick most often then have to work harder to get themselves well again. Take care.

wow! Our hospitals here throw in extra stupid charges too. I don't believe that our health services should be how they are at all! I wish they would a huge change to this. Thanks for your response and wishes.

For this purpose, I am very glad that I live in India. Although the medical bills are costly here but credits must goto many charity hospitals which offer treatments for free of cost and some people are really getting benefitted out of this. MRI scan in my country costs around $300 for complete body scanning which is somewhat cheaper in comparison to toehr countries.Yes, even in my country the hospital bills are growing as every day passes by but it also has to be taken into account that the amount we spend for medicines are far lesser than the amount being spent by countries like US, UK for medical purposes.

I suggest that you can buy some medical insurance in the future so that a part of the cost will be covered by the insurance if you get so high bills.

check with your hospital's billing dept. Most hospitals have a fund to help people who can not afford to pay their bill. I don't know as they pay the whole thing but they may. I know they help people in your situation. Talk to them. I hope they are able to help you out.

hi ambitiouslyleiah I am so sorry I know that kidney stones
are dreadfully painfull. Do you have health insurance, or are you
like so many others unable to pay the high costs? see why we need nationalized health care in the US? it is not socialism at all but just helping our people here to adequate health care for all.I hope you can get some financial help. I will send my prayers for your complete recovery and hope other mylotters will also, and we may as well pray for national health care too while we are at it. good luck Good bless.

For me I have health insurance from the state which I am greatful for. You might want to check out and see if you quailfy for it. You can make a decent amount of money and still get it. Also I would ask the hosptial where you are going if they have a program for people without health insuarnce. Some do and they might cover like the hosptial bill for you but not services or meds. I hope this helps and good luck with passing the stones as well.

i unfortunately do not qualify for medicaid. By fiance makes too much money. I was just talking to him about how its hard to get the help we need because he makes too much money, and we struggle to get everything paid but we do, we just dont have money left over for anything else. So if we have an emergency we struggle very much to pay for it. I guess that life though.

I had a friend who was violently ill and went to the hospital with no insurance. He waited and waited for a doctor to finally see him, which actually never happened. Eventually, it was a nurse that told he was well enough, and that he should just go home. He was CHARGED for this. He was charged for waiting and never seeing a doctor. He fought with the hospital, refusing to pay, and they eventually just canceled the charge. It took a while though!
