I am watching the Haiti telethon. They are singing 'Lean on Me' right now. How very poignant that song is. I have read in other discussions people going on about how and why are we sending 100 million dollars to these Haitian people. Why? Because we are a body of people who, when it is all said and done, care about our fellow man! We may not show it on a day-to-day basis in our own country but when it comes to something like this we stand tall and we give what we can.
Call on me brother when you need a hand.........I'll help you carry on.........!!
YES!! I am so emotional right now I just can't tell you. I don't care much for our GOVERNMENT but I stand by the people of this country always. We have always given what we could, did what we could, and even if it is money "we don't have" it goes anyway.
My heart goes out to each and every medical person and health liason that is over there saving lives and bringing medical care to those poor people.
I stand by this country of people and I am proud of what they are forever able to pull out of their hearts to do and be there for countries and people who other wise would have NOTHING. The US has always done this with a charitable heart and if there is one good thing I can find in all the mess our country has become it is that they ALWAYS HELP!!
So my question to you is this: What is your thought on our country and sending 100 million dollars to help? To me I think you send it regardless. And what are your thoughts on the situation in Haiti?

I Don't know about america so much. But i know America destroy lot of country. Iraq, Afganishtan and so on. They don't have any right to do this. And i don't know why they always do interfere to other country's matter. Why? America is very rich country if they want they can help lot of poor country what we all expect. Sometime they do. They help other country. And sometime they destroy one whole country. Kill lot of innocent people. why???????? WHY??????????????
I feel proud that i am not any american!!!!!!!!!

Maybe instead of making the ignorant and uninformed accusations that you've been making, you should do some research online and get yourself more informed. The U.S. was attacked by terrorists...did you somehow miss that?...and we have every right to seek out and destroy those who continue to send these gutless people to many parts of the world so that they can blow themselves up and kill/harm others. Countries that give safe haven to these groups were warned. Believe as you like though. I am also proud that you are not an American.

Ya, we have had behavioral problems with my grandson so life has been such fun lately. I understand your fatigue. Sickness is the pits, especially with kids. It was a nice telethon. Great preformances. I am curious to see how much money they raised. How folks are well at your house now.

My grandkids both have a problem with swallowing meds. Maybe that is her problem as well. I tell them to put alittle water in your mounth first and then slip the pills in and more water. Seems to work for them. Glad she is doing better.

I think it's a drop in the bucket and I hope other countries help. I hope the telethon does a lot for them, too. They will probably need billions.
I also hope our government does something soon before we all end up street people.

hi americans
thank you ~~ i am not a citizen of america but i have seen all the contribution of the americans to the world and i salute to u ..
yes ! for some people they may consider that americans are interfearing in other nations development or politics ~~ i am sorry i do not know the real issues that happens or happened there as we only depend on the news telecasted on televisions on the incidents
But ~ again i stress ... americans have spent their own money and some or most of it are contributed by their "tax paying" citizens to help other people in other nations .. food provided and medical benefits
I would also like to salute .. parents of american youth lost in wars to save other people of other countries in order to assist those in that country ..
Americans have adopted many children of the world who needs support due to turmoils during war or other disasters like tsunami and the recent Haiti disaster ..
Americans !! Thank You
this is sincere from me and my husband
cheers

yes we are a great country. but some countries hate us for no apparent reason. even some we've helped. i feel for these Haitian people and glad some of the rich and famous will step up and help. but if i won the lottery, i believe charity begins at home and i would be helping a lot of the homeless and food banks here. you may not believe it but there are plenty that should be getting help from the rich here also.

They predict that the telethon probably made about 100 million for Haiti and alot of came about because of rich people. I think charity does begin at home. I do what I can right here. Can't reach out much.
