Do you prefer a prepaid plan or monthly plan?

This is what I learn from the past experience. My sister and I both have a family plan, and we pay it on a monthly basis. We both have free phones and we have to sign 2 years contract. Sometimes, I guess that I accidentally push a wrong button, or while I was browsing the phone features, I press on something I shouldn't press, they charged me for the fee, while I didn't use it. Although I questioned them while I saw the unknown fee shown on my statement, that just too much hassle for me. On the other hand, my friends have Boost Mobile, another one has Metro PCs. Both of them have prepaid, and you won't have to worry about those unknown charging fees. And you won't have to worry about credit check or sign - up contracts. So, which one would you prefer? Prepaid or monthly?

A contract is kind of a pain, and very restricting, but I like them better than having prepaid phones. You actually seem to get better deals on contract plans, from my experience. For a while I had Virgin Mobile and they had been charging me 18 cents PER MINUTE I used. So a 5 minute phone call costed me a buck. Now with T-Mobile I'm paying $40 a month for 500 minutes PLUS free weekends and free calls to people on the same service provider. I like it much better.

Well, I have T-mobile too. The phone they gave me has some many unnecessary features, such as game or internet, or music download. If my 2 year old nephew took it for play, and accidentally press on those buttons, it might cost me again. So, I would prefer the prepaid plan.

i think i had the same experience with that you've mentioned... I used to have a monthly plan and it really has a lot of unknown charges, apart from mistakenly entering calls etc.... so i changed and chose a prepaid phone

We have always used a prepaid tracfone. Actually we have two of them. We paid about $20 each for these phones with very few features. We only use them for calling, not messages, games, text, etc. I got a doubler card and my minutes average 9cents per minute or less, because I also find bonus codes online. I know some people who have Boost, and mostly it is good, except some places it has poor reception. If my tracfones ever wear out, we might go with a Boost plan. I definitely like prepaid phones. That lets me control my phone bill.

Since I have never used prepaid, I would say, monthly. Sure it is a hassle to have a contract, but if you have a cell phone company that cares about its people, then you should have no problem. I was at first with T-Mobile, but I changed 2 years ago, as I didn't like the fact that I was always getting dropped calls, not to mention that most of the time I had no service inside buildings, and that got way to frustrating. I don't have that with Verizon, so that is why I like them. Their fees are high, but I do get good service, and that is what I am looking for. I also think that Verizon has good phones as well, and I will be upgrading later this year. A contract is a pain like one user said, but at least I am being taken care of, and that is the most important thing to me. Take care, and happy mylotting.

I've been using prepaid ever since and never have i thought of switching to the post paid or monthly plans. I am a student and i am actually relying on my allowance for mobile phone's expenses. Yes there are many cheap plans being offered here in the Philippines but I think that I will be able to manage my expenses better if i am on prepaid.

I had sprint and t moble and now I have a prepaid plan. There are no surprises on this or those goofy surcharges and exsize taxes. What you see is what you get if they say 30 dollars thats what you will pay. I paid extra for texting on T Moble then when I got my bill I saw a big charge for texting. They thought they needed to charge me 20 cents because I texted out of the country. the prepaid charges a flat rate now.

I am using a prepaid plan and not a post paid plan. It gives me more peace of mind knowing i would not have to pay every month. it is a lot of saving on my part since i only uses my cellphone when it is needed and not all the time i text like most teenagers do. They are addicted to it and every minutes which is beyond their control so if they are addicted it is best for them to avail of the post paid plan since if they prefer prepaid sometimes the cost is excessive when computed.

I would prefer to have a prepaid plan since I don't make that many calls on my cell phone. I guess if you have a business or lots of people to call, then it would be more beneficial to have a monthly service contract. Its best to lock your cell phone so you don't accidentally phone someone and get charged by the cell phone company.

hi kingparker! I must admit that prepaid plan is more reliable in case of emergency situations. Like for instance, you are stuck in the middle of nowhere and need some help you can instantly call your friend/parents without worrying if you don't have any load. (haha! that happened to me a couple of times) There is also freebies for postpaid plan like in my sister's case, she got a new phone and it happens every 2 years. But the downfall of having postpaid plan is you can't control your call (time/minutes of call) and you may excessively use it. Which means, "surprise"...haha! I mean you'll be in shock of your monthly billing statement. I'm currently using prepaid because I've got plenty of bills going on and I wanted to control my expenses. I actually have three phones and I make sure that one of them has 1 month of load. hihi! Happy Lotting!

i prefer the prepaid plan for my own custom. i deem prepaid plan is the better choice in contemporary consumption climate than the monthly plan. it is owe to several reasons.the biggest one is i do not think my income for my daily job is stable. it means i am possible to lose the source of money so that i am no capable to complete the monthly plan.

I prefer prepaid plan. I have many prepaid offers in my network which suits my usage. I dont have to worry about unknown chargings too. Still now, I have no idea of changing it to monthly plan.

If you think monthly plan costs you less, think one more time. Why they can't offer you a cheap monthly plan? When you opt for a monthly plan, some extra costs occur: 1) They need to send you monthly invoice, 2) They require more people in billing department as customers will be contacting regarding the invoice problems, 3) They need to run behind customers who don't pay bills on time. There are several other costs associated and that is why they can't offer you a cheaper monthly plan. If you will check at micro level, you will surely find a prepaid plan much cheaper.

I have one prepaid and one monthly plan connection.I use both of them.Prepaid is for my personal use and monthly plan cell is for office use.Monthly plan is of no use now a days.Prepaids are having less tarrifs and more offers are there in prepaid connection.I suggest to use prepaid connection networks instead of monthly plans.

I used to love using a prepaid plan since I am always in a budget for using my mobile. Now that I have work and usually use my mobile to chat with friends or text them, I am currently using a monthly plan already. So far I am enjoying it since the only thing I need to do is just pay for it monthly and I can enjoy the free minutes without having to get load ever so often.

I prefer to use prepaid plan. Monthly plan has contract and many companies are charging fees to their customers due to violations of such rules and regulations of the contract. For example, your monthly payment. The notice of payment sometimes will reach to your home late, meaning the date you receive the notice for payment for the month is beyond the date what the notice stated for your payment. Even if customers are very willing to pay and no intention to delay such payments, the company will still charge you for that.

I have a post-paid phone. I pay a monthly fee. However, I think you may be mixing up pre-paid with non-contract. There is a slight diferance. Pre-paid is pay-as-you-go. Meaning you pay for the airtime as you use it and there is no monthly fee. a post-paid plan is a plan that has a monthly bill with a set limit. It usually doesn't change regardless of what you do. Unless, you of course you go over your asigned alotment. However thease can come with, or without a contract. What you have is a contracted plan. I have a post-paid contracted plan. I know exactly what I'm paying every month and to what. FOr example, I know my bill will be slightly higher because I sent George, the other line on my phone, a picture text. I don't have text messaging included on his line (because he doesn't use it) but I do have to pay for the text I sent because he wanted a picture I'd taken uploaded to his phone. So I did that. for him. Personally I like having a monthly statment, because it gives me more control of how my minutes and such are utlized.

I prefer prepaid plan because you can control yourself from buying loads and there are no other charge that will just pop up on your monthly bills.
