Do you like to respond to OLD discussions?

Hey, mates! I'm sitting at home... outside there is -20 C*... kinda cold, isn't? So I'm wondering - do you respond to old discussions when you want to share opinion, or you just skip them because you're sure that no one will check your response? Personally I don't look at the discussions date, sometimes I can find much more interesting discussions made before than todays hot topics... So? What's your meaning? Sorry for my bad english, hoping for your activity! Have a great day!

I am averse to responding to old discussions for reasons not known to me. There could be good discussions out there. Sometimes one does not find recent discussions of interest. I must try to change my thinking and go for old discussions specially those which are not marked with the BR tag

Same with you, I respond to old discussions especially those without a best response. In that way, there is a chance to get that award when the user who started the discussion is still active. Getting a best response can also help to earn that's why users are putting their effort on their posts. The reason why there are few interesting discussions recently posted is because most of them are already posted a long time ago, there are some topics that could be similar to older ones, it could be unintentionally done because the user forgot to use the search box when posting a discussion.

Hey! Oh, I did never thinked about BR in old discussions, actually it's great way to get it. But anyway Best Response isn't for me most important, for me it's important to post good responses.

I'm pretty new to this, and have been trying to find stuff I can really get into. Yesterday, after I posted a thread about Nas and Damien Marley's new album coming out soon, a discussion about who won the battle between Nas and Jay-Z came up, and I HAD to respond. I was like "YES! Finally something I can really get into!" - I typed a huge response, really deep into it, 'cause I take my hip-hop seriously, and after posting this huge set of paragraphs... I read through the thread a little more and realize it's 2 years old lol Oh well, maybe someone else will find it interesting and the discussion will start again. Hip-hop battles usually neverhave a decisive winner, and the argument over sides continues on forever. I'll probably always respond to stuff I like, not just new stuff.

Well I have just returned after being away from the site for a few years now, but since I never pay attention to the date the discussion was started I'm sure that I respond to discussions that are lying dormant. How great it is to bring a great discussion back to life. As for some of the other comments made about not getting rated for the discussion or getting a response, it really shouldn't matter to much unless the person is concerned about getting paid for there response. I think that they still receive something, maybe not as much since not rated, but we will never know, lol.

I don't mind responding to old discussions. Abruzzi.:-) As a matter of fact, it doesn't bother me if it is a discussion posted ages ago that I happened to stumble upon. The only thing that prompts me to respond is my interest in the topic and nothing else. There are latest discussion that I ignore because they don't interest me. Sometimes, I am digging for old discussions in my friend's list.LOL Have a great day, as well.:-)

I do respond to topics without looking at the dates - it is not that only the new topics or hot topics interest me-I dont think date is necessary if that topic interests you

The first thing that I do after log in is to scan the latest discussions and choose interesting topics to respond. When I'm finished with that and still have spare time, I also read through old discussions and respond even though my response may never be checked. It doesn't matter whether my response will be read or not, I only care about whether I express myself fully.

hello again my friend! thanks for liking my avatar... well i agree with you that there are really lots of interesting topics from old discussions, and actually from those old discussions, i was able to know more about some of my friends... maybe some didn't respond, coz maybe they are busy, or they just have nothing to say...hehe or just don't like to comment back...haha i am used to that coz some really are skippers, well we can't blame them for it is not really their or our obligation to comment back to all responses that we got... but so far, most of those old discussions that i have responded, usually the poster still comment back...specially if they are still active here and i am really happy receiving response from the poster of those old discussions...

Hello there! What a cold temperature on your place. Well, I dig up on older discussions when no new topics are around. I respond on those old discussions that are interesting and I try to answer those without responses that stayed for a long time. I agree that there are many interesting discussions can be found as you search on the older pages. I want to be a part of the interesting discussion that is posted a long time ago so I participate on them by sharing something I know about a particular topic. When I add a new interest group, I usually do that so I can see the discussions posted there as the particular interest is added recently and haven't posted much on it. Have a nice day!

Yes, I will respond to old discussions, if I find them interesting, as it doesn't matter how old they are, as I know I will get paid for responding even if the discussion starter is no longer in mylot. I have responded to some that were several years old. I never anticipated finding any that old, but like I said, as long as it is interesting enough to respond to, then I will respond. Actually, I think a lot of the older discussions are more interesting than the new ones, as the older ones were well thought out, where as the new ones aren't as thought out as they should be, and that is why some of them don't get all that many responses, if any at all. All the old ones I have responded to, have had oodles of responses. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

hi abruzzi10! Yes, I do response to old discussions if I find them interesting. I really don't mind if the topic was created more than a month ago, as long as it got my interest I'm cool with it.

Hi there. Yes. I like to respond to old discussions. When there is no one new discussions which can be interesting for me I use the search box to find any interesting discussions and I post in this discussions even if they are started months or years ago.

I usually don't look ate the discussion date, too, but when I see after I posted that it is months or years old, I get angry at myself, because I know that noone is going to read it. I think that there are a lot of interesting topics that are older than couple of months and I usually discover them when I want to create a topic and I first use the search to see if there is a similar discussion. And when there is one started a year ago, I am a bit confused. SHould I answer it? Or it is better to start a new one to see what are everybodies thinking? So that is going through my mind when I see an OLD discussion.

Every now and then, especially if it's still listed as the first discussion in one of the interest. If someone resonds, great, if noone responds, no harm done :-)

Yes I do. For me discussion does make sense not the date it was started. Sometimes, I have also responded to discussion for which user has already denoted best responses. For me that makes more sense. And that is why I don't have more number of responses but I feel more happy to see more reputation rating. Yes.

If I happen to come across some of them but I find it takes to long to keep on flipping through the pages of endless discussion topics through here. I usually just go from today's top to my interests to new to recent to friends started and then to hot. And then keep doing that until I can't find anything good to respond too anymore. It generally helps me too earn at least a little bit every day.

Sometimes I do, but most of the time I just skip them. If the discussion is posted by someone who looks still active, then I'm more likely to reply to it since my reply will be more likely to be read. If the topic is posted by someone with a post count of 1, meaning they haven't posted anything else since then, I'll be less likely to reply (though I sometimes still do it because new users might end up finding the topic when searching for their favourite subjects). Maybe you've noticed, but some old topics have replies spanning months apart, especially topics in interests that aren't very popular on myLot. I'm guessing people feel that posting a new discussion wouldn't get them many replies, so they may as well post in an old topic, since other users can find it the same way they did.

I still do because I find it fun and I want to give my opinion and sometimes old discussions seem very interesting so I go for it.I'm sure that mostly everyone still does this.

At first I was hesitant because answering to old discussions seems to be walking to an empty room. Everyone had participated and there is no one there anymore. But based on feedback by the veterans here about responding to old discussions, I learned that no discussion would be too old to participate. And so I started participating to old discussions. What is nice is some of the discussion starters still comment back to their responses.

I agree with you that no discussion here in Mylot should not be closed 'forever'. There are always new members who come along and discover these old discussions. Their input might give a fresh perspective and might contribute something better or blindsided. Besides, a blast form the past isn't exactly a bad thing, it gives a good walk down memory lane.
