Do you have a driver's license?

I am almost 40 years old and I still dont have my driver's license. The reason being is that I was pregnant with my daughter when I first applied at 17. She was born premature, 29 weeks. She had a ton of medical problems. So by the time I came to have the time to do it, it just didnt seem that important. Finally I have the time. My husband bought me a car. All I have to do is get my license. And I can give you a ride where ever you need. I will be so happy when I dont ever have to depend on people who dont show up.Happy Driving friend! dl

I have had mine since I was 16 so have been driving for 42 years.....I don't know how I would have ever gotten along without one as I am single and it would have been tough raising the kids without transportation.....but I know alot of others that don't have theirs either. Good luck on getting your license!

Jill, I know what you mean! I was a single parent for years and it would've be real hard to get around. At one time, I lived in a city that didn't have a good public transportation services. My sister on the other hand, doesn't have a driver's license and she doesn't need one, either. She is almost 30 and she is nuts! If she had a license then she'll take off to Maine or something. When she gets something in her head, she does it! Either that she'll run someone over or hurt herself from not paying attention!

Where I live, they encourage people to get a driver's license. There was no bus system and the one we have now is just for people to go to the Drs or get groceries. The taxis cost $20 one way back then ($30 now from the country to the city). My parents weren't happy to keep driving me around. But I didn't join any sports or anything where they would need to. I went to college and used the college bus to get around the city and walked to my classes (even the ones a mile away). But one summer, I had to get a job, so they had me go to Driving school and get my license. At 19, I got my first license. I didn't want to because before the age of 21, your family could loose everything if sued because you had an accident if it was your fault. I also didn't want to because if my Dad was drunk, I would have to go get him. Sure enough, wasn't even two days that went by and I had to drive my Mom to get my Dad's truck because he was drunk. There is a lot of responsibility when you learn to dirve a car.

Yeah, My Mom did the same thing, that's how I knew that if I got my license, I would be stuck doing that. Yes, something that should be a proud moment. . .. Exactly. I thought I was the only kid in the world. . .. I could have used Mylot when I was young.

You know writer, I truly believe that people are brought together for a reason. As I was reading your response, I remembered how my mom would drive me to go in the bar and get my dad. Similar hah? Its sad that our parents take what should've been a proud or happy moment and make one of regret. I live in Eastern Mass and believe it or not our bus system sucks. It is only for our immediate town. I dont know how I have lasted this long. Thanks so much for sharing. I hope to here from you soon. dl

Hi Dloveli, I got my driver's license when i was applying for work in the US. It's one of the requirements. So, my first was an international driver's license. I enrolled in driving school and for two weeks i learned how to drive and was able to secure a license. my first ever passenger is my youngest son.

Hi Dloveli,I do not have my driver's license right now and I planned to have one by next year. My fiance always kids me that I am too small to drive the car. I think there is no laws to limit the figure while we have the license test, right? Just hope that I am able to meet you someday if I am still lining up in the bus stop.LOL. Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

I dont have many friends because I am the type of person if you say you're gonna do something do it. I hate broken promises. You know how many people have said "Oh Ill pick you up. Any time you need a ride just call." Yeah right. But I promise you Sasa, I cross my heart hope to die stick a BUS PASS in my eye, that if you need a ride I will give you one. I dont know where you live so it may take several days to get there but I will come. lol Have a Happy Bus Ride. Try not to push and shove. LOL I hate that when people push me. I want to push them right back. like they have to push to get on because the bus is gonna leave with out them. DUH people the bus waits for all. I would love to talk to you again. Hi Dloveli, I accept you as my friend just now. I am a Chinese and It seems that it is a long way from united state to China if you would like to drive. I think the distance will be shorter if we have the helicopter to travel. If I have won the lottery in million, I will consider to buy one. I need to travel to my hometown every week from Dongguan to Foshan, people is not patient to line up in a quene. I am very polite and don't like to push and shovel either. I just wait at the bus stop, see the bus stop and leave, and people get on and off. It is really a headache to wait for the bus then.

I got my drivers license when I was 17. I couldn't imagine not having a drivers license. It would mean such a loss of independence for me. I'm glad to hear you're going to be getting your drivers license soon. I think you'll really enjoy the freedom and independence it gives you to go places, even if it's just to go pay bills or grocery shopping.

Hi dloveli. Yep, I have my driver's license. I got mine at 17. So, I've had it for a little while now. LOL I know how you feel. I don't like depending on others for a ride at all. I prefer to drive myself. And even though I have to share a vehicle with my husband at the moment it beats having to wait for a ride from anyone else. So, what kind of car did you get? Is it an automatic or a stick? Have fun with your car! Drive safe! Good luck!

Oh, a Camry! I like that year too. I wouldn't have wanted to learn how to drive with as stick either. Though I'm kind of tempted to now as I've been driving so long. I think that I could actually get the hang of it, if I had the opportunity. LOL No way. I couldn't imagine doing that. I just wait until he gets home instead. LOL Thanks for the offer. But I think I'll have to pass. Unless of course you'd be willing to drive all way to Ca, that is? LOL

Hi Roseo! Everybody always asks me how I managed with out my license for so long. It has been a NIGHTMARE! People offering you rides when they feel like it not when you need it. Having to give them tons of gas money that I really didnt have. To be honest I walk alot. I have been let down so many times waiting for people to show up and they dont. Me getting my license is the best thing ever. No matter if it took me 20 years. lol Thanks Happy MyLotting dl

hello dloveli, yes having a driving license has helped me very much in times of need...Like taking the kids to school or to the doctor, for shopping ,picking up guests from the airport or railway station etc....not only that driving is something which I really enjoy doing....When I am not in the best of moods, sitting at the wheels of my car boosts me up and helps me to overcome any anger or grief....

Funny but I only got mine last year. The reason behind it is because my parents lost my original copy of my birth certificate and there was not sign of it with the government as well. Thus, I had to apply for a new one and it took me around 6 years before I can get it. So there, I only got it last year but happy about it.

Or maybe your real parents were spies so there can be no record of your birth. lol I have tooo much of an imagination dont I? Just trying to giving you an interesting story to talk about. Congrats on your license.Make sure you keep the birth certificate close. Make a few copies. Happy MyLotting dl

I got my driver's license as early as I possibly could. The main reason that I did this was because my mother was a single parent and my siblings and myself were all very involved in extra curricular activities and one person wasn't nearly enough of a taxi for three children. Now that I am older I don't drive as often as I used to because I babysit two extra children during the day and I don't want to go through the rigamarole of loading all three kids into a car seat to go out during the day.

Hiya dloveli, Happy driving to you what a wonderful story about your daughter she has plenty of fighting spirit wow. A little Spanish girl survived at just 25 weeks too and today she is a famous singer in Spain and she lets people know it too but that is the way to be sometimes. Hope you pass your Test I have a Driving License but only one of us can drive the Car at a time and with this crisis it´s my Husband who uses the Car for work so I take a backseat in this one. Keep a cool head on your driving test day the driving Instructor spoke to me very slowly and I thought why is she talking like that she thought I did´nt know how to speak Spanish it turned out I found that out after lol that was making me more nervous I really had to keep my Head together.

thanks lovinangels! It is truly amazing that premies are surviving at 25 weeks. In my area they wont even bring you to the labor and delivery. They dont even look at the baby as viable. Which I think is wrong.I am afraid that I will get nervous. I hope I wont. I am pretty confident. I have driven before. I just dont like to back up or 3 point turns. You have to be able to complete these tasks before you can get a driver's license in my area. Thanks for sharing your story. At least I know that I am not the only one who is getting nervous. dl

Yes mam I have my driver's license. When I was 16 years old I made it. In India it is not legal to give driver's license before the age of 18, but I bribed one of the officer in the motor's vehicles office and made my license. I used to drive my father's car from the age of 16.

yes, i have a driving license as it is really compulsory thing which one should have while you drive. I got it as i reached age which is required to get a license so i can drive freely in my country. I have seen people who don't make license or not even learn driving till very late age but i am not among them. My mom don't have driving license yet and she don't know how to drive even.

It is a good thing to have a driver's license I do agree. However sometimes in life things come before what we want. I had to make a choice and I have never once regretted it. The only regret was that if I had a license earlier in life I would have been able to take my daughter to the doctors more quickly and conveniently. The buses were okay. Now She is well and I am free to pursue my wants. Thanks for responding and Happy MyLotting dl

Good for you sister! I am 47 years old and have been driving but does not have a license yet! My husband will not allow me to drive anyway, but I used to drive and own my car. Well, that was about 6 years ago when I had my "wild days" before; I was fearless. But now, after a life changing experience, I realize how accountable I am for my actions. I am glad I did not get into any trouble, driving without license, or was able to ran away from any repercussion. So I pretty believe that it's not too late yet; just a matter of doing it. Maybe, I will take priority to get one as I am so excited to go back to driving!!!

i think it is important to have a driving license. here in my place, indonesia, people who have vehicle should have it. if not, they will get punishment such as pay some money or forced to create a driving license. sometimes, policemen will be along the road side to inspect who have driving license and who doesn't. so, it is very important to have it..
