***Do You Top It Off?***

I've seen so many people do this and it makes me chuckle. When you are filling up your car or truck with gas, do you top it off to an even number?
Say you were getting gas and the pump stopped at $19.94.......would you top it off to an even $20.00? Why do you do that? If it habit? Do you just like even numbers? Do you want to just squeeze out those last few drops?, haha.
It doesn't matter to me, I just leave it where it is and be on my way, but I've seen so many people do this and I'm very curious as to what makes you to do this? Did you ever notice other people doing this?

I do this. I also round up my checks to even dollars at other stores. It is easier to deal with even numbers, that is all.

I can understand that if you're doing that in your checkbook. I guess I don't care what comes in on my credit card statement, doesn't seem to matter if it's even or odd numbers. That's interesting what you said in the above response about what the credit card companies are doing now....very interesting.

Oh, I know! My dad does that. In fact, thinking back, I've also seen my sister and mom do it too. I don't do that. I've always wondered what the point was. Perhaps if they are paying in cash it would be easier for them, but my parents sister, and myself always use a credit or debit card. And they always round it to the nearest number.1 person likes this

I know, I saw my daughter do this yesterday and she paid with a debit card, haha. I asked her why, and she said, I dunno, just like it to be an even number, lol! Isn't that funny? I can understand it if it's change, but a credit or debit card?, haha.

There are even credit and debit cards now that will automatically do that and put the change in savings to start earning interest. I put the change in a change jar, and then I have it to give to special projects, and I never miss it.

GG, I never heard of credit cards doing this. Very interesting to get a little extra change coming in. Man, I gotta get a life, haha.

Isn't it so funny? I probably would do that too if I paid with cash. I pay with my credit card, so I really don't care if the amount is even or uneven numbers, haha, but I saw my daughter do this with her debit card. She really has no idea why she does it, hahaha! We must be programmed somehow to think even numbers are better.

I never make the number even. I don't care about the number, just how much gasoline I can put in my car. But if you pay with cash, pump will automatically top it to the end...

Yes, if you're buying a certain amount of gas, it will stop automatically. When it's on my credit card, I don't care what the amount is either, all I know is I got some gas so I'm good to go, lol!

I was basically talking about credit card or debit card purchases for gas, and forgot to mention that at the top. I guess if I paid with cash, I would top it off too, just to make it easier to keep track of.

my husband always fills the cars with gas, but I know he does this too. I think he does it so he's working with even bills and doesn't have to deal with change in his pocket if possible. It's a quirk.

Now that makes sense, I never thought of that because I pay with a credit card. Duh to me, haha.
