have you got a penpal you have written to for a long time?

When I was at school long before the internet one way to learn about other countries was to have a penpal.
When I was 12 I had several penpals but admit I lost touch with a couple over the years.
In our late teens we met but not since although I expect we will one day.
I still write to two in Sweden though and now we are all Grandparents and yes show off our Grandchildren!
I wonder if you could do this with internet pals?

When I was a teenager I had many penpals from around the world. It was before the internet and at that time we sent eachother handwritten letters via snail snail. I have always been interested in other countries and cultures, and I thought that it was very interesting to learn more about the countries where my penpals lived. It was also a way to practice my English and my German, and I also enjoyed that, because I love languages. Some of my penpals and I exchanged letters for several years, and my longest friendship lasted 11 years. I even got the chance to meet some of my penpals

Yes, there was a time when people became friends through letters and now internet has taken over this part of our life. I do have a friend for about 3 years now. She lives in NY. I met her on hi5 and since then we have been best friends. We never saw each other physically, but it seems like we are good at understanding what is better for each other. That is why, I advice her and she advices me. We talk for hours on the phone about many things. Otherwise, we would keep emailing each other. And today because of her I have met the ultimate man of my life. She pushed me to him and that is why me and him are in relationship. I will always stay thankful to her.

I haven't had a penpal for years. Twice in school we were given penpals. in like second grade we got one from the united states. Mine I think was from minnesota. she and i didn't keep in touch long. Then in like 7th or 8th grade we were given a penpal from france. He only wrote me like twice. i've looked at sites online that say about penpals but so far i haven't done it. I think it might be fun to give it a try again.
