There has just been incident again about 45 minutes away from where I live, it happened close to my Friends house A Woman was taking her Dog for a walk, when this Car came racing up the Street, he lost control of the Car and hit the Woman and her Dog, both where Dead on impact, the Driver was as drunk as could be, he could not even stand straight, this really scares me, that People never think of the Consequences, or they think, this won't happen to me, I am in control, but it does happen, so why not think before doing this getting in the Car drunk, racing up quiet roads or any roads for that matter whether drunk or sober, it happens Where I live the Main Road is narrow so are the pavements, the other Day a lady with a Pushchair was on the really narrow part of the Pavement, I could not believe the car racing past her and so close to the curb, the poor woman was shaken which anyone would have been So why are there Idiots like that out there, over the Years so many Deaths have been caused by this stupidity, Children Adults and Animals are getting killed because we have those Idiots out there I am a Driver and in my mind I never want to be responsible for hurting someone never mind kill someone because I am being an idiot, why can't all Drivers feel that way, instead of causing hurt and Death

There is nothing worse than a drunk. They think they know everything, can do anything & they can't do anything right. It is a sad thing that they get out & kill people & half the time do not pay for it as they should. I have "no patience" w/a drunk. All they can do is bring heartache to everyone they touch.

Gabs, there is no answer why, and you and I both know it. I am sorry that there seems to be such a rash of carelessness in your area.

I know Linda and I have been driving around town and some times I wish I was a cop. specialy when they are weaving all over the road we slow down and dont get close as they are a accident waiting to happen grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I'm so sorry to hear about this lady and her dog. My condolences go out to their family and friends. Also, I am in fear for this other lady. There are no side walks where I live and people come flying down this road all of the time. Many people walk up and down here for exercise and they take their dogs. I have yelled at many drivers that are spending down through here, telling them to slow it down! I'm sure they could care less about the way they are driving until they hurt or kill someone. Then they may wonder, How could this be? Then they will probably blame the other person for being on the side of the road! It is very sad.

Yes Moondancer it is sad, it is the same here in the Village they just do not care and sometimes that scares me as the Pavements here are so narrow

Many of the roads here are very narrow. At times two automobiles can hardly pass each other. Many other streets do not allow two cars to pass on the same street. But people fly down these roads no matter how narrow. No matter how many children or homes are down them. They run down people, the children, and animals. I had one of my little ones hit. Both hips were out of joint and other problems. He had to have surgery and took months to heal. He has left me now. I feel bad for people and animals that are the result of other people's recklessness.

Oh gabs! This is such a terrible story and I know that it happens all the time! I hope this baastard was charged with Vehicular Manslaughter! That is what this crime would be called in the USA! I am so upset to hear that this woman and her dog were killed! I hope they put this azzhole in prison for life! That's what they do in the USA! It is murder! You can't get away with a DUI here! I don't know why people who are drunk think they can drive! They are not ok and have no right to get behind the wheel of a car! A car is a deadly machine when someone is drunk and people will never learn! I just am so glad that it wasn't you and sweet Gissi! Love, Leslie

I know gabs; it is appalling how these idiots get behind the wheel of a car drunk with no concern for their own or other people’s lives. Let me share with you little Grace Moorby’s story. Here is the link to a piece I wrote about her and her encounter with a drunk driver, [b]NOT A REFERRAL LINK:[/b: http://reflectionsunderthebodhitree.blogspot.com/2008/06/consequence-of-drink-driving.html I pray that people get some real control over their lives and quit drinking to excess and be irresponsible. My heart goes out to the poor woman who was killed with her dog and her family...

I agree with you 100 percent on this subject. Having a license to drive is a privilege and if it can not be taken seriously then that persons license needs to be taken away from him or her. If an individual does have a problem drinking and driving then they should always park their vehicle at home and give their keys to a responsible party. Drinking and driving is not worth it and how would you want to spend the rest of your life living with mistakes that should have never been made.

Hi Ronita Well a lot of Drivers do not think that way till it is to late and I just do not understand why they can not use their common sense in the first Place

well .. accidents do happen . but you got to observe one thing thats the age of the driver . you blood really like to do some freaky things around when they are drunk. its their surroundings which make them do like that . so we shuld be careful and watchout for such things . do take care

That is no excuse and I will not call it an accident as it would not have happened if the Driver had not been drunk The age does not matter, the minute you get behind a wheel you do not drink or you do not get behind the Wheels, it is common Sense and People young old need to get a grip of that Thank ralf for your Response

Hi Gabs, I find it difficult to understand people who continue to drink and drive. When a person has been drinking, the car he is driving is a weapon and if he kills someone it should be treated as murder. Blessings.

Hi Gabs, I don't know why they do that as well, why people want to get into a car and drive when they are clearly drunk, its a pity they don't kill themselves before killing anyone else first Hugs. Tamara xxxxx

gabs , when a person get drunk, their 'ego' is so high n mighty, at the same time they do not believe they have 'lost their senses' ~ i am saying this because i am married to one of those idiots, seen him return home bleeding after fights, seen him return home after accidents // Uggh ... dont worry in other situations, he is never the crazy bad drunk, wife beating husband ... he only comes home driving,

I also dont know why there is such kind of people who doesnt care for the lives of many. As long as they did what they want, they never mind the result of it. Here in our country, driving while drunk is really forbidden but still many people did this thing and the effect, many victims of hit and run.

you know that was an accident, many people go to bar and drink, when they drunk the think to got to go home using their car . so it that case that was an accident it is not an intentional incedent , so maybe the driver driving so fast and lose control of his car so that happened.

In my country, not only a drunk driver can drive like that. Many drivers of transportation public are crazy. They drive like they were in a circuit. I think they have a dream to be F1 driver, but they can't make their dream come true, so they do that on the street. I always feel like i ride a roller coaster, each time I use transportation public here. Fortunately, i never take a bus with crazy driver and hit people in the street. Until now, i can get down from the bus safely, even when i'm in the bus I always pray a lot, because of the crazy driver.

You know Gabs, these people always feel they can get away with it, and it "won't happen to me" type attitudes. But it does, and they hurt or kill so many people, with no concept of what the consequences are going to be. They think they are untouchable, and the laws are not strict enough yet. Even here in the US we need more stricter laws on this to be enforced. These poor families are left with nothing but grief for the rest of their lives because someone just decided not to care that day. It's really sad.

Yes Kash I agree I just wish that there could be a law enforced to Landlords of Pubs not to serve if they have cars, I know it is not just Pubs they drink at but it would be a start
