Will you collect a small amount of loan?

There are instances when people get to borrow from us a very small amount of money. Sometimes an inconsiderable amount. If ever, will you still collect? For example, while in the store with a friend and he/she pays for her purchases and let's say he/she lacks few cents to pay for her bill. So what you did was to hand him/her few cents to complete the transaction. Suppose, he/she would tell you that he/she will pay you later or tomorrow. Will you still remind him/her later or tomorrow about it? Or would you just forget about it, anyway, it's just but a small amount...

I think if it is a really small amount especially under a dollar I think it would be petty to ask for it back. I am sure that if I was out with a friend and a little short they would help me out in exchange there is no reason to ask for such a small amount of money back. I was once dating a guy and I had just gotten a promotion and I said that I would take him out to dinner. I paid for the dinner but I was about a dollar shy on the tip I did have a couple of bucks in my car though, but he gave me a dollar. The first thing he did when we got to the car was ask me for the stinking dollar back. Granted I had just dropped $50.00 for dinner at a nicer place than he had ever taken me. I found that very unattractive, I gave him the dollar and drove him home in silence. When he said, "What no kiss?" I said, I don't think so. He was cheap and petty and that was the last straw.

loan money - I'm ashame to collect loan money.
Personally, i am ashame to collect any loans big or small amount.I would not rather care but i think when you owe somebody and if you are really willing to pay theres no need to collect. You will just hand it by yourself.I always do that whenever i had loans.I don't want to be collected so i always keep my promise to pay if i can't on the day that i promised i would give her/him a call to tell that i need to change the day of my payment for some reason.I have known people that don't really care to pay their debts after they were saved from the money they loaned from me.I would really understand if i can see that they can't pay because they were tight of money but the thing was you saw them buying new car and shop here and there. It's sad that i did helped them when they needed me but they never thought of paying me back.Anyway, that was long ago i just can't forget them. But i don't have any regrets lending my hand to them.I am very blessed and happy with my life.

Whenever something like that happens to me, I just let it be. There are times that my colleagues would just repay me the next day or would even apologize after recalling that they owe me that amount and didn't immediately payed it back. I really don't try to remind them about it. First of all, I'm not good at reminding people about something that they owe me, I just want them to realize it by themselve and then let them do what is right. Next, doing that, reminding them about such an amount that they owe me, seems a bit too unethical. Good thing at work, they would immediately pay me back or would within a span of time that they promised that they would indeed return what they borrowed. (^_^ )

Wow! I am sure a lot of people would love borrowing from you as you would be kind enough not to remind them of their obligations. Just kiddin'!

Well, that was the same thing when I was still studying in my University. My classmates would just pay me back whenever they can and I would always trust them on that. I guess, that's the kind of set up that I am really comfortable with when lending money. I always get to see them so I don't have to worry about them forgetting something like money they borrowed. If it were something like we wouldn't be seeing each other for a long span of time, there is that risk that they would indeed forget about it.. Of course, there are exemptions like those that I have known for a long time, I could really spare them a big amount and really get it back after a long time as well (^_^ )

i can understand what you are trying point out here. i myself also do not collect small loand like that. some people who unintentionally forgot things like this, small loan. i do not ask for them to pay me, and if they will pay, then it's good. but one thing i can't understand, i cannot just forget that they owe me that. even if it's just a small amount, it should be paid. one thing though, they can't borrow from me the next time.

If it is just for a few cents, ill just forget about it, because there are also instances that i borrow small amounts from my friends but they don't let me pay anymore. But if it is a hundred and up maybe ill remind him or her specially if it is a hard earned money.

I wouldn't really bother. My friends and I lend each other small amounts - coins for the parking meter, a few cents to get exact change, that sort of thing - all the time and the idea is that in the end it will all even out.

Hey dolce! It would depend on who it was and how much money was being loaned! If it was someone that I was a very close friend to and they had done favors for me in the past then I probably wouldn't ask for the money back at all!
