i've been doing a bit of salsa and a bit of 70's dance,i've recorded them off the fitness channel on sky tv,but as i have no sense of rythmn, and i find them quite hard,i enjoyed the banghra dancing, but once i got past the warm up section,i could keep up,i looked like a demented jellyfish, flopping all over the lounge,,i need something easy, that's made for people that can't dance

Hello, Doormouse. I've just started belly dancing classes, and I'm finding it excellentexercise, and very easy to follow. All you need is a sense of rhythm, and the music will carry you along. It's the best exercise ever, according to several internet sources.

Try 'Belly Dancing for Beginners' by Dolphina. I attend local classes, but I've bought the DVD as a back up between classes. It's great fun.

I would say get a wii fit board and try doing the hoola hoop as that is very good as well as it helps you sleep. The other games that you can get for the wii fit board are great as well as they also make you sweat as well as helps with the sleep like the steps game that is good as well and you can always get your children to do it as well and friends as then it makes it more fun.As for the dance ones well it would be good if they done them so that the music was faster as well as the moves were quicker as that way sweat is great burning off the fat as well.

The clients where I work found that the dancing videos were hard to follow, and they mostly preferred walking videos for their work outs. For the same reason. They can follow different walking routines better than fancy dancing.

i can understand why your clients find the videos hard to follow, especially if they've got 2 left feet like me

A demented jellyfish? I don't have THAT much rhythm. And actually, I don't dance to get fit, I just walk and stretch. But I should really get into other things, use other muscles, etc.

I love getting fit by dancing!! I come from a figure skating background (as an adult) and that was my exercise . . . but I also cross trained by taking dance classes at a local community college. Any of these dances, if you work really hard, can be great exercise. I took ballet, jazz, ballroom dance, hip hop . . . and although it's not dance, yoga. Just to be around other people and having to do dance in front of everyone was enough to make me sweat - ha ha. I agree with someone above that watching videos of dance can be confusing . . . it's really cool to take a class and do it with an instructor who will correct you (and make you work)! Honestly, these days since I don't have much time, I will find my favorite songs on YouTube and dance free form to it. As long as you work up a sweat and get your heartbeat going, it's all good. Get your groove on, doormouse! Hee hee.

You're too funny! I'm sure it's not that bad! All the better to get some music on and do your own thing. You don't have to think of it as "dance". Do some modified aerobics and stretches to your favorite music! It'll be doormouse style!
