it sounds funny but it happened to me a few times. i tried to call the attention of the security guard of anyone nearby to open the shutter for me. i have tried chanting or turning the lights on and off. there were mosquitoes biting all over. this happened because we worked over time and the workers disn't notice our presence or failed to check on the offices. last week it happened to my male colleague and he had no idea what to do aboout it. he ended jumping down to the ground floor from the second floor. LOL how about you? have you ever been locked up in a building by mistake? how long were you able to get out? what did you do to get out from that situation? please let me read your stories. thanks and enjoy mylotting!

mine's quite funny! it happened in our boarding school when i was in the fifth standard in the winter of 1996-97. i slept during an evening study period behind a pile of books. i used to sit in the last bench so our invigilator also didn't notice me. my friend woke me up after study but i was half-conscious and slept again. the guards also didn't notice me and locked me from outside. back in our dormitory my friends were getting worried as i didn't show up for dinner and it was already bed time. so they informed our warden. after searching other dormitories too, they came looking for me in our study room which was in a different building. i was still sleeping when they woke me up and didn't know that i'd been locked up and missing! i got some nice scoldings! i had dinner alone late in the night. our head warden, who's very strict and known for his punishments, asked me to meet him after dinner. i was sure i'd be punished so i decided to go only if he remembers and calls me again. fortunately, it seems he didn't and i didn't go as well! i vaguely remember getting up when still locked up and thinking it was load shedding(as the guards had turned the light off before locking), and that study hour was still going on and so i slept again!

funny indeed and thanks! being locked up in a study room with all the lights turned off must have been really scary if you woke up on your own. you're lucky to have friends who cared so much about you and searched for you. never mind the scolding because i bet you had a wonderful sleep! well it was winter so i understand. LOL you're lucky to get away from the head warden... how about after that incident. did he ever remember that you were supposed to meet him? sleep tight but not in study room again. LOL!

Cheiyen, I remember being detain in school for unfinished homework by my Chinese teacher and whilst doing her extra assigned homework I just fell asleep after completing well ahead of my detention hours. In the course of all this, my Chinese teacher actually forgot that she had detained me in the class and everyone went home except poor me - still asleep in my class. I woke up like somewhere around 9p.m. and you can imagine how a 10 year old me felt, alone in my school that house close to 1200 students. Feeling sad and hungry is just one of the things that motivates me. I just went to the canteen's vegetable rice stall and raided their cupboard stock of canned pork luncheon meat. After 2 cans of that, I just went back to my classroom and whilst I was on my way, the police showed up and I just broke out. I really cried my heart out there because I thought they were going to arrest me for taking the 2 cans of pork luncheon meat!!! You can imagine the relief when they said that they were here because my parents had called them because I did not return home. What a relief! Whew!! Don't ask me what happened to my teacher because I really did not know and from that day I was her favorite student. Well, that's my first and last experience of being locked up by mistake, I suppose. What do you think?

Cheiyen, Well, this Chinese teacher of mine could be forgetful at times, there were occasions where she would lock her car with the keys still inside it. I think you would have slept too as I have completed all her detention class homework and my other homework as well. Since, I am bored and alone, I suppose a nap would just be appropriate for that moment. FYI, I was 10 years old then. As for the canned pork luncheon meat, that stall incidentally is my favorite stall where I would get my meals during recess. They sell mixed curry vegetable rice and fried rice. So, I am quite familiar what they keep in their stock cupboard which the stall holder stores their canned meat, sauces, condiments and fresh eggs. I hope you have a great weekend too. Take care.

ni hao, skysucess! LOL your chinese teacher must have been off for a date so she forgot you, my friend! i'm eating my heart out that you guys were asleep when you were locked up or got some food and drinks to enjoy. =( LOL how old were you then during your first juvenile act of eating those canned pork luncheon. i love eating them, too. hahaha! i'm relieved as well that you were able to utilize your resourcefulness right there and was taken back home with full tummy. hehehehe! no further questions why you became the favorite student... she might not want missing cans of pork luncheon in the canteen cupboard again due to her forgetfulness. LOL have a nice weekend and thanks a lot!

not in a building, but in a room. yes, i was locked up for a couple of times. one happened when i was sleeping in a friend's house. their househelp and family members did not know that i was inside his room sleeping. my friend left the house early because of his work. so they locked up the door for two hours. when i woke up, i stayed in the kitchen and had a good hang-over killer breakfast with lots of juice and water.

No but I had the exact opposite. My daughter was rushed to hospital with the fear of loosing her unborn baby. She wanted her handbag from the car so I went to get it. Could not as it was early hours of the morning get back into the hospital as all but one door was locked. It took 2 hours to find that door and I was frantic to get to my daughter. It was a freezing cold night and I was in my indoor clothes! We laugh at it now but at the time ... My Grand daughter was born soon after I got in 10 weeks early but now you would not know it to see her.

It's actually quite the opposite, i was just around 5 years old and my brother was only 9 months old. We lived in an apartment and i was alone with my brother in a room, i suddenly went out and closed the door, my door handle was already broken and i closed the door tightly. The door was closed and my brother was still inside! he began to cry so loud that my mum suddenly came running, she was so worried, we tried everthing to get the door open, but every second my brother was Crying louder and louder. So we began to get help from the neighbours next door, the people tried everthing but nothing could work, one of the neighbours even tried opening the door with a credit card, sliding the card on the lock but that didnt work. My mum called my dad who came as fast as he could. Finally the neighbours opened the door handle with a screwdriver and my mother embraced my brother! it was a short lived joy..... for me because i got told off that day...

LOL you were lucky to have very helpful neighbors. don't trust the credit card coz it doesn't work all the time. thanks for sharing your story.

oh, wrong discussion! back to the topic... Well, never experience being locked in building, but lift, yes. I've been locked up in the lift because we don't know that the buttons are outside the lift. it's a newly intergrated lift, where all the level buttons are outside and you have to press it first before going in, but no one knows and we end up stepping into it, and being locked for 30minutes!

Yeah. Back in the day I worked in an office. I went into the backroom once to find some papers, and after I did I came back. The office was dark, and the doors were closed. The gate was also locked. It wasn't too big of a deal though. I called my boss, who had a key and was not far away, and came back to get me.

I have never ben locked up in a room by mistake, but my uncle and aunt had. Once my uncle and aunt got lcoked up in the bathroom. They couldn't open it. They shouted for help and their sons living in the same house came to help them, but even they couldn't open the door. Finally, they got the help of a carpenter to open the door. My uncle and aunt felt so embarassed to get locked up in the bathroom for more than two hours.

I used to work at Best Buy working back in the warehouse. One night I was pulling a late shift. While the last people leaving were checking out all of the stations to make sure the doors were locked, I stepped into the bathroom for a moment and missed the call to leave. They forgot I was there! I started on my way back to the warehouse to finish pricing some CDs for the next day. An hour had passed by before I looked at the clock and noticed that I should be going home. When I left the warehouse the store was dark and I realized that I had just been locked in, and now I've set off the alarms. I called my manager to explain the situation, and I was finally released from the grips of the store after nearly two hours of waiting.

it's a relief that you were able to call to manager. two hours of waiting while doing nothing is toooooooo long. it helps to keep the numbers of people who keep the keys or your superior so you'd be rescued from being locked up. so keep your phone charged and have credits. thanks a lot.

I do work overtime too, but thank God I've never been locked up in a building. I can't imagine how I'm going to pass the time there. It would be really scary. It's a good thing your co-worker was able to jump onto the ground floor. If he had been even only a floor higher he might not have managed it.

well i have never been in a situation like that but it is a bit similar. Some time ago someone had locked me up in a room on purpose and went out. well i cried but i eventually fell asleep and it was some hours afterward that the person returned and open the door.
